Saw the renewal VF-25F going for $399 on eBay! Seriously???? Wait a few months, you will be able to get a renewal VF-25F with superstrike parts and shipped for much less than that.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
ron5864 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I believe there are 5 to 6 Black Lagoon OVAs. They are about 3 minutes each, but are very hilarious and twisted. -
I just finished watching Aquarion less than a day ago. It looks like the designs and action sequences from Aquarion were put into Macross Frontier. So this Aquarion EVOL could give us a glimpse into the next Macross series in terms of mecha designs.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0

The last episodes of Aquarion were full of Macross Frontier style action (missile spam, VF-25 type gunpods, Alto versus Brera type fight). To top it off, the Aquarion units transformed from fighter to gerwalk to battroid mode. I was expecting Apollo(who sounds like Alto) to yell "RANKAAAAA!" instead of "Silvia!". -

Exactly! Everytime the three Vector units merge, all the pilots look like they are experiencing the climatic "Ohhhhhhh!" phase. Silvia seems to enjoy it more than the rest. I did not know Kawamori designed the Aquarion. Now it makes sense. The Vectors look a bit too much like the VF-19. And when the Vectors combined into the Aquarion, it looks like an armored VF-25. -

I just started watching Aquarion and it is a little confusing. This is like an Evangelion/Vandread hybrid show. Using giant mecha to fight angels? Is it me or does the Aquarion head designs remind anyone of the VF-25 designs? -

Birdy the Mighty(1995) and Birdy the Mighty:Decode(2008/2009) are both excellent. You can't go wrong when the story is about a hot looking inter-galatic federal investigator chasing down bad guys on Earth. -
I wonder what color schemes Yamato will make for VF-4. Skull Leader for sure. But how about Max and Miria edition? Even a Macross 30th Anniversary special? Maybe I am getting too far down the production line here...

Just when I thought I found enough money for the reissued 1/60 VF-25S, this new VF-4 pops up. I really want this VF-4. But I want the VF-25S as well. Not enough funds for both. DARN IT!

Don't watch Ghost Hunt unless you really like haunted stories. I know this is an anime, but it was really scary at some of the haunting parts. It has some comedy mixed in to lighten things up. But I lost many nights of peaceful worry-free sleep because of this show. Chaos HEAd is excellent, but be prepared to get mind f*d. Your brain will turn into a pile of twisted spaghetti and explode into a pink mist. -

I just finished Sekirei and Sekirei:Pure Engagement. Even with the extreme amount of fan service and female characters with future lower back pain problems, I would still recommend it. The story revolves around 108 genetically modified girls who must find a male/female partner to pair up and fight against other groups in a cruel game set up by a large corporation for entertainment purposes. The main male character is kind of a loser at first after failing the college entrance exam two years in a row. Once he pairs up with a few girls, that when his character changes and the story gets interesting. Each girl has a different power and fighting style with their full potential released after finding a partner. The battles can get cruel and bloody with some getting killed. But there are comedy moments since 8 of girls and 1 guy live under the same roof. So you know what I mean. In a way, this is similar to the other anime Freezing, with genetically enhanced girls needing to partner up with a male student to form a fighting team. One of the main girls(Tsukuimi) in Sekerei looks exactly like Satellizer in Freezing. -
It's been a while but I think those are the Tamiya 1/48 scale flight crew set. There were several version from Tamiya.

I have a few Macross items(VF-1, VF-25, SDF-1, Regult, Glaug, all destroids, Q-Rau(Miria, Klan and Pixie)) in different scales. But the most cherished item is still the 1/48 VF-1J. I guess the opening Macross SDF credit scene, when Hikaru is about to take off from Prometheus, got burnt into my mind. That's why I have two of them. One in fighter mode and the other in full armor.

Ok...there are a few sci-fi animes that I really recommend as a must see; like Macross, Ghost in the Shell, Eureka 7 and Evangelion. But after watching Heroic Age, I would say this is at the top of the heap. It has the best elements from Macross Frontier, Gundam 00, Mospeada, Eureka 7, Star Trek and Stargate mixed into one really awesome anime. The story revolves around humans from different parts of the galaxy trying to fight off attacking alien tribes and their attempt to recapture Earth from alien control, hence Mospeada-like story. The main characters travel to various locations in the Argonaut (like the SDF-1), to solve a puzzle left by some ancient race. At the same time Princess Dhianeila tries to stop the on going war by attempting communicate with the other races so to understand each other, like Setsuna using Gundam 00's GN particle to connect the humanity conscious. And of course, AGE, the hero of the story is the young man that can change into a giant organic fighting weapon, like an EVA unit in Evangelion. In short, awesome story, awesome battles, and awesome ending. The only thing not awesome are the Princess' two idotic brothers, scheming like Leon in Macross Frontier. Wish this series can continue. Again, highly recommend...Heroic Age. -

Just finished Demonbane. This is a good series, but the mecha (CG) animation parts seem not to combine too well with cell animation portions, like how it was in Vandread. But the story is decent, if a little rushed with some gaps left unexplained. I am still watching Soul Eaters. So far, this is really really entertaining, like all the stupid stuff that Black Star and Soul come up with. Death the Kid has some serious Obsessive Compulsive Disorder issues (OCD) to deal with. Also, just started Heroic Age. That old space fortress wreckage on the plant surface in Episode 1 is like the Macross SDF after crashing onto the Pacific island. The battle mecha the humans use seems like the battloid mode of the Mospeada Legioss AFC-01, especially the blue one. Yes, I am taking on winter break with a full anime schedule. -

After watching Karau:Phantom Memories, I have to recommend it. The story takes place in the year 2100. It is about a corrupted government unit chasing after Karau and her younger twin sister, Christmas who both have supernatural abilities. The setting changes a lot from the Moon base, the large urban cityscape, and to the Swiss countryside. There are some cool looking mecha that the GPO government forces uses. It is a good cat-and-mouse chase type of show with a heart. I like how the characters evolved over the course of the show that gives them depth. Ok...continuing with Gundam AGE and Soul Eaters. -
I just started watching this Gundam series during this winter break. Is it me or does White Wolf seem like a reincarnation of Patrick Colasour from Gundam 00?

Oh man.....Too bad I blew my Christmas $$ on a new mountain bike and had no spare reserve left for the new VF-25S. Well least the bike has the same SMS Skull Leader color scheme.

Currently watching Zombie Loan. While the concept of the story is interesting, the action seems a bit light so far. Nothing intense. It has that dark comedy element to it....like Black Cat. -
The Toyota GT 86 and Subie BRZ look fairly decent, even in base form. It should draw in customers looking for a Honda Civic Si, S2000 and Hyundai Genesis 2.0T or Veloster. But Subaru will more than likely make a turbo version someday. That's the one most will be interested in.

Just finished Princess Resurrection. A decent good show and entertaining. The setup is similar to another show They Are My Noble Masters. Poor Hiro gets tossed around a lot by the other girls in the show. At least his sister and Sherwood-hime really cares for him. -
That's a really good custom defender Miriya!
