About the Macross Chronicles
drifand replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I use about 2~3 ad pages at the bottom of my 3 binders as a 'cushion' for the preciousssss SPECIAL PAGES. -
Nice model-ish detailing... although I still prefer the more toy-like CM's sculpt. Still feel the WHAM's biggest problem is the 'old-fashioned' rubber/PVC shrouds.

Hmm... that's not right. The stickers shouldn't be 'bound' to the binders. >( -

Woah... thanks for the heads up guys! 'Luckily' I've only bought 3 so far... phew! Now I'll wait for the binder reissue to see how many numbers the sticker sheet carries. If it's only up to '3'... then that means I'll only buy one of the 'new' binders and wait for the next reissue. -

Saw the blurb for the binder number stickers on the back of Issue 10! Can anyone translate the 'instructions'? Also curious as to the 'nonsensical lettering' for 2 of the stickers... -
Green is the Mospeada 'Brown' :-)

Wolfx, check out Naka-dashi's report: http://naka-dashi.org/index.php/2008/11/we...fanclubs-night/ OFFICIAL PIXXXXXXXX!!!! May'n looks freakin' fantastic with her 'Sheryl' earring. I believe the front-row shot caught the both of us plus GGemini's forehead, haha! Oh man, still haven't come down from the concert high...

Haha, yes the audience body language is quite restrained isn't it? But I believe this again boils down to cultural differences. Truth be told, during performances of 'quiet' songs like Diamond Crevasse and Yosei, Japanese audiences would maintain silence to let the pure emotion wash across the venue. Read some hardcore fan reports that the back-portion of the AFA audience was actually too noisy during those 2 songs

Yo, check out this translation effort... no babbling :-) http://bonkurasu.animeblogger.net/?p=268#more-268

The manager, that's the guy next to her at the 'autograph' table, right? Not the woman handing out the 'permission tags' at the head of the queue? When she saw I was clutching 2 of May'n's CDs and a magazine she said quite sternly, "No signing of items." Man, she's got Grace O'Connor beat. Anyway, I don't blame May'n at all. She is what, 19? She sang her heart out for the fans and THAT is the most precious thing. After the concert I re-listened to all her tracks again and picked up on more things that I liked about her singing, like how she pronounces 'Date' without the usual 'dei-to'... and the beautiful ending chorus for Yosei. I'm definitely game for a full concert in 2009. :-)

Fantastic capture! But I'd venture to say the high point was Northern Cross... the shouting participation was 'easier' and really added to the urgency of the performance. All the 'MOTTEKE!!!' for the closing number would be a close second. Sigh... the memories. Hey, AFA organizers: You shoulda made an instant DVD and sold it right after the show! You'd be rich(er)!!!

Group shot was with GGemini's and a couple other's digicams... Anyway, May'n put on a really great show, she really picked up on some of the 'Sheryl Nome' stage presence with her poses and high-kicking. And Diamond Crevasse really could break your heart seeing how much emotion she put into the song. But... the pre-signed autograph thingy was a real low. These traditional-minded artist management companies are stuck in the last century! How do you think May'n got such a huge reception in Singapore without the power of the Internet, BT and Youtube? Hmm? "No photography or recording please, by May'n's personal request." Right. NOT. Coversely, Mizuki Ichirou, aka 'Aniki' to the fans, really reached out with an hour-long performance + encore and wasn't shy about photography etc. Here's a seasoned pro who has learned to build success upon a new reality. Kudos. Anyway... just a few more pix to share. The Macross Frontier cosplayers were really good, but it was my loss to have missed out on the better Michel players. Kira kira! Me and GGemini on the left :-)

Nice! Wish you could be here for May'n tonight... Did that sound wrong? XD Anyway, managed to meet up with Wolfx, GGemini and a few others fans who travelled down from Malaysia for drinks after Mizuki Ichirou's fantastic performance. Never expected to yell out "MAZINGAAAAAA ZEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" so much! Other first day highlights for me: - Meeting Koji Morimoto in the flesh and getting his autograph. He was using only white markers at first but I lent him my black marker to sketch when he decided to draw on a white page instead... - Squeezing past Bandai's tight restrictions for Ohkawara's autograph session. Or at least my pal did, and managed to get my Votoms mini-poster signed. Heard he was happy to see something that wasn't just GUNDAM being appreciated. - Spotting this lovely 'Yosei': Will be returning in the afternoon for the cosplay parade and the MAY'N EVENT tonight!

Cocked-hip poses are all the rage anyway... let's wait for the real thing before restarting the hate-fest. -
Which Macross Frontier song is your favourite?
drifand replied to taksraven's topic in Movies and TV Series
Yeah, had to re-vote... aaaaaannnnnd LION is back on top. Nameaate mo RAION wa tsuyoi!!! -
Well, if not all are from Kanno, then we might get a better idea of May'n's own style... I'm sure she wouldn't want to be pigeon-holed as an anime-songstress for life.

Precisely. Those !@#$ slackers! I didn't even know about the other concert until 2 days ago... I mean those who registered for the 2-day pass gave their emails, right? Not that difficult to put them on a mailing list and inform everyone as schedules firm up. Duh. And look at the 'Toys Exclusives' page: Anyone spot the 'autograph with K Ohkawara' offer? Yes? Well, it's sold out at Takashimaya. And they didn't update the info. >( Anyway, back on track: How about after the concert? More like supper, ya? Xin Wang cafe is 24-hours... and there are plenty of eateries at Marina Square in case the queues are long.

New macross saga based movie (Robotech Genesis)
drifand replied to kamikaze_kamujin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Fan-works most definitely do not always equate to crap. I still recall the excitement in SW fandom when those high quality fan-made films came out years ago: http://www.theforce.net/fanfilms/ -
Just the usual Qs, I guess: - What's her favorite Frontier song? - Is she recording new material for the upcoming movie? (It's a secret, she said. i.e. 'Yes') - Does she have plans for a full album besides the 'May'n Street' mini-album Psst... Try not to repeat questions already asked here http://www.afa08.com/mayn_interview.htm

OK, let's make it dinner on Sat night. Tentatively 7pm depending on actual timings for talks etc (the organizers are really slack for not publishing proper schedules)... My number is 96986095. See you there!

The script writer probably katakanized 'Michael' as 'Miku-Ha-eru' and Alto's VA did the rest. Just spell him as Michael and call him Michel.
