  1. Fort Max just posted this Toysdaily scan on TBDX: http://www.toyskingdom.com.hk/forum/viewth...;extra=page%3D1 ZOMG!!! Diecast AV-0 Peacemaker?!! A kind soul has mirrored the scan here: http://toyboxdx.com/phorum/read.php?1,1696...9705#msg-169705
  2. Just finished a review of the limited release KV-98 PICKEL-KUN soft-vinyl figure on ToyboxDX... have a look if you like these simple but satisfying toys :-) http://toyboxdx.com/brog/?p=544
  3. Watched DH4.0 with a friend to blow off steam... it was a good flick but not fantastic. I DID wish the ending wasn't so predictable, though i.e.
  4. Late to the discussion, but does anyone think that the new-look Joker is perhaps, maybe, inspired by the psychotic gangster played by Tadanobu Asano in the cult film Ichi the Killer? If Heath Ledger plays Joker anything near as crazy as Tadanobu did, I'd be a happy camper! :-)
  5. Wisdom comes with experience... especially for those who live with a toy budget!
  6. The very pricey CM's Corp diecast Patlabors came with battery included. The contacts were insulated by a plastic strip which you removed to 'activate'. IIRC Bandai's SOC T28 and Black OX also came with batteries included for their light-up features. Takara's MP-01 Convoy definitely came with watch cells for its matrix. Even my crappy Zoids Bio-raptor included a watch cell for its lights and sounds. However, my SPEC Layzner, SOC Base and self-transforming D-17 do not include the common AAAs they require to work. I think the rule of thumb is: Nobody gripes much when a toy that uses 'cheap' AA or AAA batteries comes without them, but pricier collectibles that use 'special' cells should always have them included.
  7. I've had no problems with my trio yet, but then again, I handled real carefully from the start because they were so expensive. 1. General QC Has been pretty good except for one reported case of an obviously scuffed/damaged paint job that slipped thru the factory. Haven't read any cases of missing parts or non-working LEDS so far. 2. Backpack cover A few owners have reported accidentally breaking the backpack cover when accessing the battery and slot-lever for raising/lowering the pilot seat. Exercise care. 3. Cloth shrouds As you play and pose the toy, the cloth shrouds may work their way out of the housings, but you can push them back quite easily. 4. Loose shield Some have said the heavy diecast shield may tend to fall off. Check yours for loose fit (mine are really tight) and if necessary, thicken the peg or use blutac/double-side adhesive tape to secure it. 5. Collar antenna The only really fragile part IMO. It doesn't attach firmly and is easily knocked off. I didn't hestate to glue it in place but of course, that means if I drop or mishandle the toy the antenna may snap off instead. 6. Optional chest patrol lights These tiny pieces of plastic let you choose whether to have the lights up OR closed down flush. If you choose to have them closed, haha! You may find it next to impossible prying them out in the future. For now, all my Ingrams have the lights popped out. 7. Paint chipping These ARE expensive PAINTED diecast toys! You need to be careful when posing them to avoid chipping the beautiful paint job. The most obvious areas to look out for: The front & top of the knee guards; Edges of the feet; Tops of the hip guards and waist armor. If it sounds like it's hard to enjoy this toy, it isn't; I really love them and simply want to be able to show them off in great condition for many years from now. :-)
  8. I'm not a 'long time fan' of NIN but rather one who took a long time to grow to like the body of work. The oldest 3 will always be the most intense in terms of content and intent, produced when Trent was raw, naive (maybe) and young. I enjoyed With Teeth but along with Year Zero, I feel the songs are too topical and lack the timeless appeal of the older material. There are still a couple of potential classics like Beside You In Time and Right Where It Belongs from WT that have that same emotional quality of the best from The Fragile. YZ, I feel, still hasn't got anything that can stand apart from the slightly corny 'concept story'. And one more thing, meh_cd, you should try to get hold of 'Still' (Halo 17), the 'acoustic' performance of several classics plus a couple of new tracks. I got mine as part of the AATCHB live concert DVD set. Absolutely brilliant if you enjoyed the best bits from The Fragile.
  9. Ack! looks like the last round of update pix didn't survive the server migration. Any chance of a re-up? It's been fantastic following this work in progress!
  10. 'Ka-CHING!' ?
  11. Mmm... shades of nu-Starbuck in Cylon Raider! Good job.
  12. It's looks great! Can't wait to see it in the local shops!
  13. FAWK indeed. At least the bundled '19 doesn't seem to shoot itself in the legs anymore when flying. That much you can smile about!
  14. I refrained from buying a single 1/48 yet gave in to the beautifully CADified VF-0S, only to get bitten with a broken arm. So Yamatoed it is.
  15. Oh yeah... it's been a while since I rewatched those OVA2 episodes :-)
  16. I'd say, PROBABLY one of the box figures. None of the Ingrams came with any large pilot figures either. So who's gonna spring for BOTH winged and underwater versions of Griffon? The winged version definitely looks cooler, but it was the underwater version that finished the fight with Noa's No. 1 and Kanuka's No. 3, after thrashing Ohta's No. 2 – who had made a sacrificial blocking move to give Noa time to escape and recharge her Ingram's batteries.
  17. Sounds good. I'll bring a bottle of Testors and a fine brush with me the next time I shop for a Yammie Valk.
  18. I share your pain! And this is exactly what I meant when I said "CAD is not a cure-all for bad design". The parts may be Computer-Assisted-Design, but it still takes a Human-With-A-Brain to realise something's too thin to support the stresses on it. As it is, the pricey VF-0S I sent my bro is still crippled in one arm because there's no way of getting 3rd party replacements in Australia.
  19. Well, a bunch of good friends wanted to watch *something* last Friday and it fell upon either FF or O13. They picked FF mostly because of Ms Alba, and I simply told them to go ahead without me. Not even good company can compensate for a bad waste of time... and it turns out they didn't enjoy it either. Besides, naturallly dark-haired Alba as a BLONDE?! Makes me think ALL kinds of strange things...
  20. I hated, hated, hated the lame-o Popy Chogokin Reideen when I was a kid... with all the cool 'realistic' and high-tec designs of the 80s, Reideen's antiquated looks really grated on my sense of coolness. Didn't help that I never got to watch the show either... So my chogo reideen was used as a punching bag by all my other robot toys... The 'good guys' from Dougram, Sorvack, Macross and Orguss all had a good time ambushing and blasting Reideen to bits. His only pal was another hated design: the Clover DX Zambot(!) A recent post on TBDX put things into a new perspective: If you squint your eyes, you might notice that Reideen is in fact the great grandfather of Z-Gundam! Hide-the-head, hide the arms, fall over and scoot the legs up. Yup... It's still a fugly design!
  21. They CHEATED with a jump cut...
  22. Blasphemy!!! jkjkjkjk
  23. Yes. But seriously: I think Kawamori was hired to design the 'robot' as the personafication of the DUALIS car concept, which is based vaguely on the idea of a powersuit. I'm guessing the market-speak for the concept would throw around ideas of how strong the chassis is, how it wraps around the driver and becomes an extension of his mobility etc...
  24. I'll tell you what's (not) surprising: He's played down his less than brilliant efforts for the crapshoot game OMEGA BOOST. Heh. edit: I thought he left out OB totally but it still got a 1 line text mention, no pix.
  25. The suit is pretty nice but it has almost no visual correlation with the vehicle. IMHO, the car could have been styled with more curves, or attempted to look more like those groovy concept cars that 'never' get made.
