Awww, I like the Varuta and Protodevlin. Here's hoping there is some truth to those posts about other mods either getting past the race limit or there being no race limit at all...

That's right guys. The fine People At AeonGenesis have released their 'beta' patch for SRWAG on PS1. There are a couple of pretranslated ROM images available on bit-torrent sites with one that is working completely(The others due to corruption have no voices or CG cinema sound.). It includes the DYRL and Plus units and pilots. Fokker is especially fun to listen to. Be warned though that this is a sequel to SRWA and we are still waiting for a full release on that one, so spoiler alert and all that jazz.

Count me in for the Macross 7 fold effect. It was the quick but flashy which is great for a game effect.

*returns from the void* Hmmm... it has been about three years since I visited last and the SDF-1 is still awaiting completion. Any big names from the mod have time to chime in with a status report?
-
Curse my southwestern location! Seriously though, would it be possible to get the SDF-1 poster through paypal or moneyorder? I have some valks but I don't have any poster/pictures yet.

You think skinning starship meshes is hard? Try painting them. All those diferent slightly shaded panels will ruin your wrist.

I did not need that image... But back on topic, shows like Macross and Gundam that have a good number of spin-offs tend to branch off in different storytelling directions with each incarnation. Take G, X, and SEED for example in the Gundam franchise. One was silly and never tried to be anything else while another went for a good long drama. And the third one just went and killed half the main cast and cast humanity in the darkest light I have seen in a while. It's the same with Macross SDF pioneered the franchise and most of the basic themes, while DYRL? refined it. Plus was one big Valkyrie fest and 7 was a light-hearted show that emphasised the power of feelings and culture. Bottom line, even though they are in the same franchise/universe/what-have-you the different Macross spin-offs were really designed to tell their own story with the Macross universe as the backdrop. Each one wasn't meant to be held to the original or even a previous sequel that some tend to hold up as a holy grail. That's my oppinion at any rate.

*sigh* Please, let it go Agent One.

Why is it neccesary to compare M7 to the other M titles? It should be judged based on it's own marets and what concept the directer/writer was shooting for. In this case despite the noted lack of high money animation for the the mecha and cap ships Kawomori hit right on the mark he was aiming for. If some people don't like what he was trying to do with this installment of Macross than fine, but don't scream at every person who hasn't seen it that it sucks. Let them watch and decide that for themselves. As for characters everybody will have their favs. Mine is obvious. And everybody will have their least favs(Mylane just sucked, and they really didn't need to add a female vocal to Hummingbird anyway). Oppinion is everything.

I so missed that wall scroll when it was at a local anime store. I'll be kicking myself for the rest of my life for that one.

Having a capital ship with hands may seem strange at first(I refuse to get into this worthless 'I hate M7' crap running around), but if you think about it having maniuplator arms gives you the ultimate advantage in close quarters. A creative bridge crew could make those hands deadly weapons, and that's without using big ol' explosives at too short a range(Remember the whole flying debries thing so ignored by most anime/sci-fi?). It also came in handy when the Battle 7 had to brace itself against the City 7 and halt it's decaying orbit into a star, especially since the outer hull of City 7 has all those wierd and admitedly abstract angles and whatnot. Being able to manipulate objects on a grand scale like that in a galaxy full of big ass ships gives the Macross class battle sections an overall advantage in a number of situations. Oh, and it looks really damn cool(I happen to think battle sections look really good but please excuse this unworthy M7 fan )

.... umm, WOW. That's the kind of computer magic moders like me only dream about.

My monitor is a 19 incher.

As much as I'd love to use a higher resolution, I have to share this pc with someone who can't read any text when we crank the res. up.
-
I don't suppose you could make one in 800x600?
-
Oooh, is that Starscream? He's one my three favorite Transformers. Though I guess it could be Skywarp or Thundercracker. Can never tell without color.
-
Does anybody have closeup pics of the Minmei Guard decals for the VF-1? I have a friend who might want to get them for his kit, but he wants to see it first.
-
Nevermind, I found the guy. Good wallpapers by the way Firefox. I downloaded most of em' and set them to rotate every day with webshots.
-
My PC bit the big one last weekend and is only now up again, and I lost a lot of 800x600 wallpapers from a really good artist here who has a lot of wallpaper(Mostly VF-1s and a little photoshop work with models). If someone could point me to this guy's website I would much appreciate it.

Metal Gear Solid 2 to DYRL would be my pick. But then, I'm a rabbid MGS fan.
-
Where's the MAXL? I'm so looking forward to a color version of that.
-
WOW. I've always liked the VF2, and those pics just make me like it more.

Robotech and HG license debates
Basara Nekki replied to Roy Focker's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I've read the translations and what it seams to say(I'm no lawyer) is that TP/HG own the rights to the original animation series and the rights to maybe make dirivatives like toys from it. Everything I've read in that document on the character, mecha, and other designs within the series implies that BW/SN own the designs. What I can't understand is why BW hasn't attempted to set up shop yet in the US to see how HG reacts like they did with Sunwards. -
Robotech and HG license debates
Basara Nekki replied to Roy Focker's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
In everything I've seen so far I can pretty much confirm that TP/HG has the rights to the animation SDF Macross and maybe rights to produce their own merchandise from that animation. But the court rulings also say that BW/SN have claim to the designs, characters, and story. But this is all said and done without knowledge of HG's legendary super contract with TP. Geez, you figure if this contract/memo or what-have-you were so great that HG would have revealed it long ago and stole the derivative macross animations for use in some new Roboyuck venture....
