1. I know about the Typohon - thats where the irony is; the EF2000 name "Typhoon" was chosen because it supposedly had to be a word which was inoffensive to all the development partner nations, and was chosen because its common to all of them but has suitably neutral foreign (Japanese) origins. Unfortunately, it seems someone forgot Germany was one of the member nations. Or perhaps we Brits are just really, really good at Poker faces in meetings... As for another Sptifire - well, "One of a kind is always special... "
2. As well as being suitable for Royal Navy service via the Sea Fury as well. Er... heres a thought - would the name potentially affect a possible Japanese purchase? The name "Lightning" might stir a few memories (though it doesn't seem to have affected the Typhoon, a name which with no apparent sense of irony - or history - was chosen not to be offensive to all the development nations... )
3. So far, the response has generally been "I had a toy like that once... " or "I knew someone who had a toy like that - is it Transformers?"
4. Excellent work and a nice piece of lateral thinking ("So, everyone uses the Top Gun soundtrack in Macross videos - so lets take that a bit further... ")
5. The Raptors in Jurassic Park should have been the size of chickens, and were in the book. However, shortly after filming was completed (according to Bob Bakker, anyway), a type of raptor was discovered which was roughly the "movie" size.
6. Just seen at Microman Forever that a Ingram is planned for September. One can only hope that a Griffon is planned too!
7. I think "legs" usually refers to range/endurance, not speed, when talking about aircraft. 414411 I know; but honour demanded some defence to be offered.
8. Sort of makes sense I guess, at least from an international point of view. As for legless - I bet English Electrics little speed demon could still show its younger namesake a thing or two when it comes to going really fast...
9. I suspected as much, but I thought I'd let you know the broadcast date as there are many means of... uh... "obtaining"... things in this modern age now...
10. A F-18 taking off from grass - now, that I'd like to see... Welcome to Macross World, coolhandluke!
11. The episode should be broadcast on UK BBC1 at 19:00 GMT this Saturday (8th July). I don't actually know the episode title myself, but if you go to a website like Outpost Gallifrey they should have the info there.
12. Sorry for the tardy reply - only just seen this. I got the cabinet at a "Homebase" store in the UK, don't know if you might be able to get the exact model in the US. I will warn you, theres a slight gap in the doors, so dust still gets in. And the glass backing does make it hard to get a photo without adding yourself to the collection!
13. There was a clue in the last trailer, so it wasn't a complete surprise for me, but still...
14. Was it good? What happens? Don't tell me he regenerates ... again?!?! 413191 I can't tell you. It would spoil the surprise.
15. Viewers in the UK were treated to the trailer for the final episode of Season 2 yesterday. Holy freaking mother of all things... er... holy. Hold on to your hats, people...!
16. Penalties. Always bloody penalties.
17. I have a suggestion for the Milia doll packaging (the real product, not the, er, "fantasy" version... ) "Will expand when unwrapped".
18. Oh yes, I have been schooled by my two friends in that regard. I suppose it also helps that the entrie world calls it football except the North America. Being Canadian, I did call it soccer just to differentiate from American Football. But I'm feeling much better now 410959 I'm suddenly reminded of Pulp Fiction... "You know what they call football in the US?" Just don't ever ask me to explain the concept of off-side, 'cos I can't! As to England playing well at the moment... er, theres a bit of a difference of opinion in the homeland at present...
19. I live in the UK, which I think makes me contractually obliged to like football (and it is football, not this "soccer" malarkey! ), but I've never really been a big sports fan. My family, however are quite nuts about it. Theres currently some spoof ads on UK TV at the moment from Budweiser, spoofing the American approach to sport and imagining what might happen if US-style sponsorship came to the UK. Moving Arsenal to Yorkshire just because theres already too many teams in London is just one of the ads jokes (although a slightly obscure comedy show called The Mary Whitehouse Experience did much the same thing a few years ago, only somewhat more bitingly... )
20. Give me Milia without her wedding gown and... ...er, yes. Well.
21. "We just got the -19 fixed!" "Ohhh, I've been waiting for you - my pretty girl... " "Higher! Faster!" Er, a thought: YF-21 almost seems like a future no-brainer, but maybe... VF-11? Edit: okay, lets not get ahead of ourselves... great news just for the YF-19!
22. Will it matter? They're fighting the next war in Cyberspace, apparently!
23. I gues sit would depend what you were trying to do. The Harrier already has a proven close-combat record from the Falklands, though its often forgetten their opponents were operating at a long distance from their bases and weren't carrying long-range AA missiles. All of the above would probably be able to use the option to get out of Dodge at supersonic speed (not sure about the Voodoo, though), and the F-106 and F-4 could engage at long range. In a close combat fight, the F-104, F-106 and F-104 would probably be Harrier toast if they fail to keep their speed up.
