Some photos of the next, next Who special have been released; I think fans of a certain third season two-parter are going to be somewhat pleased...! Edit: this is a pretty big spoiler, so on reflection I think I'd better add don't follow the link unless you want to spoil a surprise!

This should have been bloody obvious to me, but that "Hotelicopter" thing I posted a link to was an early April Fools. Grr...
-
Gunbuster 2 is by the same director and has a little bit of the feel of FLCL.
-
Hotelicopter to start "aerial cruises": http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/30/hotelic...hrough-the-air/ "S.O.S! Mr. Tracy, the Western World is calling... "

I'm almost tempted to say "2-3-5" here... (Europeans, as a rule, tend to be footballing nations... )

So I guess the reply to the classic line "The best place for canards is on someones elses aeroplane!" is "Now you see 'em... "

Watership Now?

Its sort of but not quite a kung-fu laser palm. I laughed like a loon when I saw that episode - "YES! Giant robots in Doctor Who! My life is complete!". [1] [1] Okay, because I just know someone will mention "The Robot" - not for the first time.

According to Wikipedia, he was born in Scotland. Like David Tennant, that probably makes him multi-accented. He has dual UK/US citizenship. You might recall the season 2 episode with Queen Victoria, Tennants Scottish accent was his actual native accent (just as Patrick Stewarts native Yorkshire burr can be heard in the dub of Steamboy)... I've got no problem personally with a younger Doctor Who. And no problem with more females, either.

I just hope they don't get any contracts in the UK soon, because they'd have no option but to pick Morris Dancing... [1] [1] Not a guy called Morris who dances. Traditional folk dance. Involves pigs bladders. On a stick. Look, just read Terry Pratchetts Lords and Ladies, okay?

Theres a joke going round at the moment that, with a possible new companion being younger even than the new Doctor, the next regeneration will be a foetus.

Some Russian warplanes - not sure about the SU-24 - use "Eskeem", an automatic ejection system that dumps the pilot out if certain flight parameters are exceeded. Without the pilots consent... Next-gen stealth bomber: didn't that just get cancelled? Edit: David: What? The?!

M.S. Era 0099. Its sort of done in a "photobook" style, as if the pictures were war photos taken during the One Year War.
-
Uh... the P26 Peashooter? (to give you an idea of how far back thats going, the "P" is from when fighter aeroplanes were "Pursuits"...! ).
-
Turn-A Gundam is going to enter the discussion at some point, perhaps unfairly.
-
Bound Doc, or whatever the hell they call it these days, from Gundam Zeta.
-
Yep, along with quite a few other things; famously, many of the transforming fighter aircraft in Macross are named after real-world aircraft.
-
Thats fine, just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same thing! "FAST" packs are the "original" name for CFTs, they were originally intended to mount fuel, sensors and weapons (though its never been clear to me if the sensors were supposed to be inside the packs or on mounts on the outside; AFAIK all CFT-equipped aircraft only have fuel inside - well, until the "Silent Eagle", anyway!).
-
Sorry, Griffin? Do you mean Gripen? (I presume its the Swedish word for the same thing, though... ) I also assume you're referring to Boeings "Sonic Cruiser", which IIRC was killed off by fuel costs and airline disinterest (the spoilsports, I want to fly faster! ). Also, I've just remembered where I've seen a fighter firing a missile from a FAST pack before - seems Boeing also has some Macross Plus fans on the payroll too...
-
Going by a couple of related articles, it would be fitted with an AESA radar and a digital flight control system, though I doubt it would have the "all-round" sensor capability of the F-22. Supercruise...? Mmm... guess it would depend on the engines, but I'm no expert...
-
Okay, which Boeing staff member is a Patlabor fan then? The F-35 will have the same problem with hanging things on the wings. I could see an upgraded F-15 being an attractive option for those international customers in the market for fighter upgrades; I suspect this thing isn't just aimed at potential F-35 customers but Rafale/Typhoon/Gripen customers as well. Still, neat as it is (why the V-tail, though? Stealth?), doesn't mean it'll get taken up - remember the F-20 and F-18L...?

Has he changed his C.V. to read "Professional Voice Actor" yet?

Mobile Suit Gundam 30th Anniversary
F-ZeroOne replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I first got into Gundam from reading magazine articles, mecha-themed RPGs and seeing model kits in my nearest comics shop, but it was years before I actually got to see any. That meant my "internal" idea of Gundam was a bit different to the reality. I mean, Char - who knew he was such a b*****d, eh?
