The offer is to be the new face of a hot new brand that is on the rise on Frontier, so I'm thinking about it. I don't really want to be tied to one brand. But, this brand has me a little excited. Actually, I meant that she wanted Alto around for emotional support in case her hopes of finding survivors were crushed, not as security. He is the only one, other than Grace, that knows exactly how much Galaxy means to her. And he is probably the only one to know about the conflicted feelings she has for the place. There's a lot of emotion tied up to Galaxy since she hates it for what it is to her, but it is also her only link to any semblance of a personal history so she can't help but love it as well. With it gone, it is as if she is floating adrift in the vast and lonely universe. She went to Gallia IV to see if she could regain her connection to Galaxy, but she was very much aware that she would likely not find anything. Alto coming made her feel less alone. It's too bad that he was as oblivious as ever and didn't listen when she thanked him.

I have had all these feelings in all things Macross except for 7 and II... Anyways, my passion was reawakened in December when I saw a raw named Macross Frontier on Tokyotosho so I grabbed and watched it. Well I can tell you that I hadn't felt such a vibe since the first season of the new Battlestar Galactica. Shakes came and went throughout my countless rewatchings. Tears came when I found out I would have to watch *4* months to see the next episode. Well, now that the series is seemingly half over, I can say that I still get the same emotions except I now fall into a depression after watching each episode and reaches its nadir around Tuesday Pacific Standard Time. There is also the great depression of knowing the Frontier will end relatively soon.

I just checked it out and it's basically the same as always. She talks about how people have asked her to talk about her recording sessions in one. In another she was bitten by a flea or something, and this flea was attracted to green moving things. That's right, not only does she have green dog ears, but she has the fleas to go with them . In the latest one she talks about how she doesn't have time to read lately because of work. She specifically says that she's not talking about novels, but manga. She's been following an online comic, but Ozma gets mad when she reads for too long so she's been secreting reading it at night. Also the title character was her first love. All in all, Ranka's blog is pretty much as uninteresting as always.

2008-07-14 Title: Petite whatever... Food, environmental conditions, There are many different types of alergies, right? Lately, I have come to understand that I have a "petite" alergy. Understand? "Petite." Petite tomatoes, petite cosmetic surgery, petite lunches, petite poodles... Why "petite"? Why "a little"? Why not just go the allllll the way!!!? I can love finely detailed beautiful things, but I guess I should stop here with the negative thoughts. Still, I can't accept things that are made "petite." I've seen quite a few Ranka fans who seem to love her character design and she is obviously designed to appeal to a certain segment of anime watchers so I don't think you should try to use this as a point in your favor. You try to make it seem as if Sheryl's appearance is my sole reason for liking her as a character when it isn't. I said that what piqued my interest in her was seeing her character design. This was before I had seen even the first episode so there was no way I could have known what she was like. Plus, being interested in a character does not necessarily mean that I would have actually liked her character. What actually made me like her as a character was when she pulled herself together to appear before the press when she was obviously feeling pretty shitty. It was that show of determination that gave me a hint of what a strong person she would turn out to be. Your claim that Sheryl does not resemble Misa because Sheryl hasn't had a previous love is a pretty tenuous. Being similar does not mean she is a carbon copy of Misa. By similarity I mean that she gives the impression of being very strong willed career woman who is quite out of her territory when it comes to personal relationships. So you don't like Sheryl's sexual persona and prefer the moe-stars that seem to seep out of every one of Ranka's? Come on, they each cater to different segments of the Macross world as well as the TV watching audience. Calling Sheryl silly without giving Ranka the same treatment isn't all that fair. As I said earlier, when people speak of similarities between characters, they don't necessarily mean that the two characters are caught in identical situations, but that they share many of the same qualities as a character. I am not sure where you are trying to go with this. You commented that Sheryl was not so independent because she wouldn't be able to survive on her own without Grace and faulted her for having other people do things for her. Of course we know what the reason for the outfit was for, it was to give Alto Hopes and Dreams tm . What do you mean she was playing a "double-game"? Ranka wasn't part of the equation because the present wasn't for her, it was for Alto. It was his birthday and Sheryl wanted to give him a thoughtful present, just as she was very thoughtful when she gave Ranka her present. And we know that he could not refuse because it was something that he actually wanted. She was so excited about giving him something that he really desired that she actually forced herself to go back out despite feeling like crap at the time. Had he not wanted it, he might have gone to see his father instead. She was glad that he came with her because she was unsure of what she would find on Gallia IV regarding the rumored Galaxy survivors. Plus she wasn't feeling very good thanks to her helpful manager. 2008-07-10 Title: School Swimsuit. Up until now I have never had to buy something because it was required before so this is fun. Would this be called "school teaching materials"? Yesterday, I got a swimsuit. In layman's terms, a school swimsuit. What a fresh design! More specifically, a swimsuit that covers the waist can be nothing but a direct challenge to a young woman. If she doesn't have the right look it will immediately show. (I don't know what スットーン means so if anyone would like to offer some help, I'd be awfully grateful) I tried on some of the available school swimsuits, but none of them fit so I had one custom made. You say this even though you do the same thing in idealizing Ranka. Sheryl is far from perfect and most of her fans can readily admit this. It is just that her pluses far outweigh her minuses in our books. Come on, while Misa wasn't quite so inexperienced with personal relationships as Sheryl is, she was just as awkward when she was confronted by her feelings for Hikaru. I'm not actually sure what you are trying to say when you use "natural" so I can't really touch on that. Please, don't exaggerate. While Sheryl doesn't have very much experience taking care of mundane things like laundry by herself, it is obvious that she is pretty intelligent. Living on your own doesn't have much of a learning curve. And be fair, no one with a career like Sheryl's going to be able to take care of everything themselves, but she knows how to delegate responsibility of certain aspects of her career to others. I take it you're implying that Sheryl maliciously offered that present to Alto so that she could sabotage her? (If I'm wrong just let me know.) I don't think that that was Sheryl's intention when she gave the present , as I'm pretty sure Ranka didn't enter into the equation at all when Sheryl thought up that present. Sheryl was thinking about Alto when she decided to give him that present and her excitement when she actually tells him about supports that. She was happy because she thought of something that he would really enjoy. Well, Sheryl wants to be with Alto because he offers her something that she's never had before, a real friend. The thing is though, she doesn't cling to him for support the way that Ranka seems to do, she just wants to spend time with him. Do you really believe that she actively seeks to interfere with Ranka's time with Alto? As I said before, I don't think that Ranka enters into her plans when it comes to Alto, well, until episode 12 that is. Alto told her flat out that he wasn't dating Ranka and specifically said that he didn't have a girlfriend. That's plenty good enough excuse for her to try and get more time with someone that treats her like she's just Sheryl instead of Sheryl Nome. I don't think she overrates herself. She has very high expectations of "Sheryl Nome" and does what it takes to force herself to live up to the expectations of that role.

While Sheryl's HOTNESS is certainly what piqued my interest in the beginning of the show, it is not my sole reason for liking her so much. Her strength and independence are her most attractive qualities. She is human so the hits that she take affect her, but she pulls herself back up to do what is necessary. She does not wait for things to come to her, but instead puts the effort to try and reach her goals through her own power. There is an edge to her personality that makes her seem very adult which probably comes from growing up without any close relations and that maturity is also very appealing. Anyways, while looks are what usually catches a person's interest at first, they can be taken only so far before people being to lose interest.

Well one thing that comes out in the interview is that Frontier was supposed to have a triangle like Plus' i.e. 2 guys and a girl. Sheryl wasn't originally supposed to be a love interest, but the guy who did the script composition didn't think it would be interesting or very attractive so got Kawamori to change it. Sheryl was originally only supposed to be someone that Ranka admired, but they ended up doing a DYRL Minmei vs. TV series Minmei thing. I for one am glad that this happened.

2008-07-04 Title: I feel lethargic... What does it mean to be busy? There are people who's favorite saying is "I'm busy," right? And of course there are people who ask "Have you been busy lately?" What is with that? Why are they asking such a thing? If someone answers that they are not busy, do these people secretly think, "Serves you right," or something? Do they feel the person that sends people off to their "busy" days is admirable? These types of people have something wrong with their points of references. Even if someone has only a minor amount of work each day, the question of whether they are "busy" or "not busy" depends on how they feel, their time management abilities, and their ability to deal with situations. Even for a conversation with other people, this is one of the silly subjects. "I'm busy." Really... That's why I won't let them know. Whether Sheryl Nome is busy or not busy, that is. My answer is to smile and say, "Do not worthy, it is the same as always." But if it is the "same as always" all the time, I end up not being able to hear what my body is telling me.
