  1. Thank you And as far as the FP thrusters, it was shown that way in the TV series on several occasions as well as in various artwork (the picture of the VF-1J on the main page has red thrusters) and model kits. I only painted the inside of TV fast-pack thrusters as well as the Missile tips. I didn't do it to the DYRL valks a few small screens:
  2. I used gundam markers and Pro-Modellers weathering wash
  3. Finally got around to finishing these
  4. I got my 2 boxes of set 2 and I'm still shy 3 for a complete set: YF-21 VF-25 Tornado pack VF-1A Angel Birds If anyone wants to sell any of these please let me know Thanks!
  5. I grabbed 2 boxes of Set 2 on HLJ's Black Friday sale. They are currently on their way with the rest of my order. I would have gotten Set 1 also, but they were out. I'm looking forward to checking them out. I'm still not happy with Bandai for making it impossible to get a complete set of basic Valkyries by buying a whole box (with the exception of a chase or 2). I admit, I don't have a lot of experience with trading figures, but I thought that was pretty much the standard. I could be wrong though. I was just going to buy complete sets off ebay. But the prices are pretty crazy. So I'll take my chances with multiple boxes and hopefully I'll at least get one complete set.
  6. Whoops! Sorry mate...I was at work and didn't have a chance to check all the other posts before I put mine down. I assumed not many would remember that movie, but it's good to see I was wrong.
  7. The HLJ link I put above now has a few close-ups. They look pretty cool. Except I have zero interest in the character valks. I'm hoping the VF2SS is behind the black dot on the bottom right
  8. 1/250 Macross Fighter Collection 3 Special Packs: 1 Box 12pcs on HLJ. But sadly...no pic as of yet.
  9. My fav fight scene ever is Roddy Piper and Keith David in "They Live" Over 5 minutes of them beathing the crap out of each other over nothing but putting on a pair of sunglasses. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsZpdUUdd3I Oh...and the Kirk and Spock fight...because the music rocks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyhhFzE5O5U
  10. Nope, the VR just comes with a regular sticker 1/60 sheet.
  11. Maybe it's just me...but compared to this, the Macross seems a bit overpriced http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;picture=out
  12. Looking really closely at steps 10,12 and 13 it appears the head is tucked inside. I can vaguely see light blue sticking up and down from the black chest part.
  13. I'd appreciate your posts a lot more if they weren't filled with rage, insults and sarcasm. But sure I'll respond anyway.. Do you have Cable TV? If so, do you look at your bill and say "Why does this cost so much?" I work for a cable company. When I tell people that price complaints are the first thing out of their mouth. Truth is, cable companies do not make the mountain of profits people think they do. Prices are high mostly because of the cost networks charge to be carried as well as the cost of existing and new technology to bring the cable to the customer. So the price is actually justified. Does that mean people shouldn't question it? Not at all. I welcome the opportunity to educate those that ask. I believe consumers have every right to wonder what they are being charged for. Especially these days when families are trimming expenses. You say we don't know how much it costs Yamato to make the Valks. Do you? Does Yamato make $5 or $150 off a $200 Macross item? I'd love to know, but I imagine you do not have that information either. Let's look at gasoline. Sure it's different they a toy plane, but gas doesn't qualify as a necessity. From what I gather about your logic, if a gas company decides to charge $10 a gallon for gas we should accept it as justified just because we do not know what is involved in getting it to the gas pumps. Some people would still pay for gas at $10 a gallon. Does that mean if it's still being purchased it's not too expensive? Most of us work for our money. Purchasing things, whether it be for fun or necessity, is one way I justify the time and energy I spend at a job. And I'm more likely to spend when I don't feel that I'm giving money to somone that slaps a price tag on something to clean up with a huge profit. I don't believe anyone is questioning Yamato's (or any company for that matter) need to make money and cover operating costs to be a successful business. It's just that no one wants to be on the end of a company saying "these suckers will pay anything." I can't say that's true for Yamato. But whether or not it's the case is what I, and I assume others, are wondering.
  14. I agree. When I think about how much I drop for these things it makes me question my sanity. It was fine back in the day when it was a $100 here and there. But lately it's getting kind of crazy. Especially since I'm pretty much a completist. The recently released Blue and Orange YF-19's are the first 2 Yamato Valks I didn't purchase right away. And am not sure if I actually ever will because of the money. And I was all on board with the Bandai DX line when it was announced. But then I learned all the accessories were exclusives. That turned me off right away and I never picked any up because of it. I actually was hoping Yamato would run out of Valks to make one day. But with the addition of the Macross 7 line that probably will not happen any time soon. And all the designs for this series seem to fall into the higher price range. Have you noticed though, it's not just Yamato and Bandai. But everything Macross tends to be expensive. Outside of trading figures, what out there is below $50? One day I'm going to get tired of it all. Not tired of Macross, but tired of spending my money on expensive things that have no business being the prices they are. It's funny though, I remember many years ago there was nothing Macross out there. And things like Joons bootleg 1/55's were all the rage. And now here we are with many, many choices. But prices keep everyone but the dedicated fan with a decent job away. Macross, a hobby or curse?
  15. I collected Star Wars from POTF2 up until when the Force Unleashed figures were released early last year. All and all I've got around 1100 figures. And a large amount amount of vehicles. Yeah I know that's a lot Everything is loose and complete with the exception of the extras that came with the figures (comtech chips, slides, etc) all formally displayed and never played with in a smoke free home. I'm stepping up my efforts on getting rid of them all, but I haven't figured the best way to do that yet. Anyways, the reason I'm mentioning all this is if any fellow MW Star Wars collectors are looking for anything to round out their collection drop me a line and I'll see what I can do to. You name it, chances are I have it cheers! ~James
  16. Yamato's website is still listing it as an Oct release. It also has Max and Millia's 1J's down for Oct also.
  17. Eh? Maybe this is a stupid question but without landing gear how does it..you know...land?
  18. Didn't Robotech come out in 1980 something? Wouldn't they have had to make an agreement before they actually released the show? eh? Oh yeah...the super-posables from like 7 years ago. The Masterpiece from around the same time and the 1/100's from the last couple of years. It certainly would be hard for another company to compete against that catalog of products /sarcasm
  19. Actually I visit this thread somewhat often. But I hadn't read anything that gave me the answer I was after that was at least somewhat factual and not so much speculation. I appreciate the sum up though. However, I still do not understand how HG has managed to retain a license from an agreement that was set forth what, 25 years ago? I thought companies at some point had to renegotiate terms every now and again. I didn't realize that they can just go fill out a document, pay a fee and it's theirs for another 10 years. Especially when they are not really doing anything with it in the first place. Other then blocking anyone else from making a profit that is. I guess since they can't seem to make money from Macross, no one should. ADDED: Does HG have to pay anyone royalities, like Big West, from any Macross mechandise or to they get all profits? If they have to pay royalities, you would think who ever they have to pay would give them the boot and actually get someone in there that would actually generate some cash off it.
  20. I wonder if this phantom License that HG owns applies to Macross series like 7 or Frontier. Would anyone be able to stop Yamato from releasing their Macross 7 figures or Bandai selling any Frontier in the US? I can't imagine HG is holding something that never expires, and applies to all things Macross to EVER be released. If so, whatever lawyer agreed to that obviously was very new at his job.
  21. HLJ: As most have mentioned here, they are extremely slow. I've had a week go by after I ordered before I even got a processing email. And for a supposed "wholesaler" their prices are not very "wholesaleish" so to speak. And since they sell in yen, my bank hits me with a conversion fee. I do like their multiple shipping options though. I'm usually in no hurry to get something if it saves me some $$. So I tend to go SAL most of the time. Overdrive: Again, as others have mentioned their website has been plagues with problems this year. I think the whole month of April they couldn't take any orders. Their prices are great, and their Macross selection is pretty good. No conversion fees. But shipping sucks big time. And maybe it's not their fault. But it's the #1 reason I look elsewhere for items. What I order from them arrives nice and fast, but on a $89.99 Valkyrie the only shipping option is $30, or 1/3 the price. Which is crazy to me. This weekend I was pricing an order for 4 1/60 Valkyries and the shipping was $100! Which means I could get another 1/60 for the price of getting the others to my door. That's pretty hard to swallow considering it's already an expensive hobby to begin with.
  22. Hmmm...HLJ Tamashii Nation coverage is listing it as a VF100 http://www.hlj.com/tamnatf09b.html (scroll to the bottom)
  23. There is also the Dark Blue one that was on the carrier elevator early in the series. http://www.new-un-spacy.com/sdfmacross/var...1a-darkbird.htm
  24. http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT34696 Changed to Oct restock. Since I've been watching it has gone from Aug restock to Sept restock now Oct.
