  1. Yeah, in that last episode, there's so much NUNS vs Vajra, but then, if a person doesn't know the story, and they see a Monster shooting at the Battle Galaxy, it's a bit confusing. Even though that's one of the most awesome moments in the show.
  2. Well, that's certainly Cristina's name. http://www.cristinavee.com/
  3. Pretty awesome. I don't even feel like you need to do much, but if I'm forced to come up with some constructive criticism...: There are some natural lulls in the songs you've chosen, and these are great places for natural sound to punch through, or dialog. The second half, the action half, has some pretty awesome moments, but I found that when the footage is sped up too much, it loses some of its punch. The movement is already so fast and wild in Macross, when you speed it up, it begins to look light, or lacking in gravity (I know, null gravity in space, whatever, you know what I mean), or more like toys and less like robots and planes and warships. The final comment would be that ultimately, you kind of tell the story of the conflict with the vajra here, but during the exciting second half, we see the NUNS and SMS battling with Vajra, then suddenly, the NUNS is battling against other NUNS forces. Visually, the pivotal moment isn't clear. Now, that might not be your intention, to do anything storywise, and that's fine. It's still an awesome video, but that did occur to me, from a storytelling point of view.

  5. Holy crap! Dude, guys, I am SOOOO sorry!
  6. Cool model. Looks pretty detailed. Can't wait to see it with some decals. What software are you using (I always ask, both out of artistic curiosity, and as a recruiter)?
  7. That is so wack. I've had that happen too. Now most of my projects are spread onto different drives. Not enough redundancy, but stuff is still spread out. Well, all things are impermanent. But those models were sweet.
  8. I had the opportunity to see the TRON Legacy Trailer in front of some 3D stuff. As soon as it started (I'd already seen it on my computer), I realized that they were geniuses. The stuff taking place in OUR world was in 2D, and it wasn't until we arrive in the computer world, the... uh... Matrix if you will... that the 3D kicked in. Not only was that a genius technique for making one world seem mundane and another seem fantastic, but there's a historical precedent for that: The Wizard of Oz. So, as a film buff, I got a kick out of that shout out. Knight -- don't look too hard at Bay's Junkformers, or you'll go blind. Mac666er -- I have nothing else to say other than: still awesome.
  9. Just wanted to let everybody know, we're launching a new website for Macross Aria, which is at, surprise: http://www.macrossaria.com. The site is in its infancy, but it's going to grow steadily in the next few months. As always, we welcome input of any kind!

I was kinda thinking Disney. Ariel from Little Mermaid or Jane from Tarzan. Either way, there is clearly a different style at work here, which is cool to see. Somebody is very versatile.

Hey Poli! Obviously I like all of your work. I've said it before and I'll say it again. This latest work I think is unique in some regards. The face is different. Not better or worse, but different and I appreciate the different direction you took this illustration. Word up!
  13. Tober: AWESOME. Pure awesome.
  14. Or 3DS Max?!? Please?
  15. Concur.
  16. Sigh. You guys' stuff is so awesome. Soooo awesome. I wish I had maya. Or, alternately, I wish Autodesk would stop boning us on this and come up with a legit maya > max pipeline. Sheesh! Y'all MW Legends inspire me to do way better work.

Are you working in Maya? I think so.
  18. Okay. Phew. This is being handled. I don't have to panic.
  19. Mr. March! What happened to my favorite Macross reference site? I am sad.
  20. I think we're in the same room.
  21. Hmm, it's a challenge to be sure. I would try intensifying your shadows for that particular image. In the shadow areas on the comp'd photo, it crushes to black much sooner than in your render, where there's a lot more detail in the deep grays. Or, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Eesh.
  22. Wow, that looks pretty awesome. The thing that even gives it away as a render is that I feel like a reel lens of that length would have a way narrower depth of field. I'm kinda sticking to the toon shading world, because I KNOW I can't texture and render and light like that yet.
  23. Um... Macross Aria anybody?
  24. Great acrylic work. Really classy, actually. Cool to see that you're doing 3D stuff too. As soon as we get our site re-launched, maybe we can do a link trade.
