Haven't seen the interview but Harrison Ford is an absolutely classic example of the real person not matching the screen persona in any way. (Indy teaching the students in the first Raiders film was supposed to be a close match to Harrison's persona, however.) Same deal when a lot of people meet comedians and find out that off stage, its not unusual for them to be kinda sad. Taksraven

If its possible for there to have been a high point for the Robotech novels, its when the SDF-1 comes crashing into Dolza's flagship, and as it prepares to fire the Reflex missiles, Dolza realises that the Zentradi should not be fighting the humans, because they have the guts and ingenuity to have fought the massive Zentradi Fleet and be winning, but instead the Zentradi should ally with them against the Robotech Masters. He faces his blazing death screaming "Wait!" It indicates that a little flash of intelligence on the part of some western writers had the potential to at least add some more little interesting bits to an already great show. Taksraven

Welcome to the entertainment industry. Its an industry where "delusion" and "vanity" is the absolute name of the game and most of the general public are suckers to fall for it. Whenever you hear actors, writers, producers or directors claiming that they knew they were working on a project that was "special" and "close to their heart", its BS. With actors in particular, they usually just memorise their lines so when it comes time for them to say them, they can, quite often with little or no analysis of what they are saying or doing. Thats why its acting. Most of the general public confuse actors with the persona's that they play, and as a result get quite astonished when they see them acting like the rest of us when they are not in films or TV shows. Its easy, the episode was animated in nearly motion-picture quality and is simply stunning. Taksraven

A lot of the comments are Macross fan-bashing. Taksraven

Loved the climax of The End of Time part one. It was one of the best I've seen, and I've seen em all. Taksraven

FYI, it was Alan Young doing the voice of Keyop, a very talented actor and voice artist. The fact that he was able to do a voice like that was a testament to his ability. I think that all of the voice cast in BOTP did a great job, especially Keye Luke as Zoltar (so over the top but so fantastic too), even though their voices did not match the Gatchaman originals. Gatchaman had a rough ride from the 1970's into the 1980's. The first American dub, Battle of the Planets had some great voice acting from the likes of Casey Kasem and brilliant music by Hoyt Curtin added to the original soundtrack (and I say added, generally it filled in the quiet gaps in the original Gatchaman soundtrack, and there was a lot of gaps. The only aspects of the original anime soundtrack that were replaced were the opening and closing titles music) BUT, the big flaws that were introduced in the BOTP version of Gatchaman was that most of the violence was removed and it was REPLACED by 7-Zark-7, one of the worst characters in animation history. With his robot dog sidekick, 1-Rover-1, 7-Zark-7 would tell the Science Ninja Team (known in this version as G-Force) what to do and how to do it. This filled up the timing gaps in the episode left by the drastic editing out of violence. Also, in the original Gatchaman series, most of the action was set on Earth with the enemy, Galactor (renamed Spectra) being based on Earth, in BOTP, the enemy came from another planet and G-Force constantly travelled to alien worlds to fight the bad guys. (after Star Wars, all SF had to be "intergalactic") The original Gatchaman series also had 105 episodes, but BOTP cut that down to 85 episodes. I could crap on about this show all day, I do have a love-hate relationship with it, as some of it was good, and some was not.... The rough ride for Gatchaman continued into the 1980's. G-Force was the next dub of the original Gatchaman series. More things were left intact, (including a lot more of the violence), as were a lot of the concepts from the original Gatchaman, but again, only 85 episodes were dubbed (some episodes were different in this dub however) and to fill the "gaps" in the original Gatchaman soundtrack, a pumping techno beat was added so the viewers "didn't lose interest". Fark. The third dub was even weirder. It was called Eagle Riders and it was made up of the two Gatchaman sequel series, Gatchaman II and Gatchaman F. Both series were combined, and only a limited number of episodes were released in this dub. Characters were all renamed (The classic example being the main villain from Gatchaman F having his name changed from Count Egobossler to "Happy Boy", I shiit thee not) the soundtrack was replaced with crappy techno music again and overall, it just sucked. But its hard to expect better from those fantastic people at Saban Entertainment. The first accurate release of anything Gatchaman was the new OAV that was released in the mid-90's. The dub was passable but not outstanding, but unfortunately the original product was terrible. It was only when ADV films released Gatchaman on DVD earlier this decade did the series get a release that was truly accurate (but the English dub was, again, truly awful, so you had to watch the subtitled version). They only did the first Gatchaman series so I don't think that II and F are ever going to see the light of day in the West. Overall, I think that Gatchaman has had a much rougher ride in the West than Macross has, and I don't think that any of this bodes well for Imagi's upcoming feature film version thats due to be released whenever. I agree that you have to be in the mood. Its a good late-nite SF show, in the same way that Babylon 5 used to be, thats probably another reason why i'm enjoying it...... Taksraven -

Its character-driven, not action or plot-driven, so to many it would seem like nothing. I enjoy it though. Taksraven -

I don't think that indigenous peoples wanting to fight off technologically advanced oppressors should be considered "Treehugging hippie crap". In the real world a lot of people even today are engaged in such struggles. Taksraven -

Not completely. Universe is the only thing I have seen with the Stargate name on it that is any good. Taksraven -
Quite like the look of it. Is it in adusted figures? Where did it come from? I remarked last year that I would be nice to know how much Macross Frontier cost per episode. Taksraven

I think he mentioned the "Shadow Force" thing as a product as well. I think its just their BS corporate way of saying things. I think it would be worth it for one of us to stand up at one of these RT panels and declare his or herself to be a die-hard Macross-purist and ask if any of the RT fans are brave enough to try to give you death. (They would be too chickenshiit I know, but it would be funny, esp. if we could get a clip of something like this on Youtube.) (the worst that may happen would be a pie in the face, possibly) Taksraven

While there are a few other screenshots during episode 27, but this is my favourite "blink and you'll miss it" destroid monster moment, from the final charge.... Distant SDF 1, not much happening...... A bit closer, hmmmmm, what are those strange shapes under the bridge area.......?? Whoa!!! SDF-1 and the two monsters, IN YOUR FACE!! Love it.....

OK. SMS went down to the Destroid op-shop and picked up a load of obsolete destroids for a pony. Whatever, just offering an alternative reason. Having different types of units and then god knows how many variants on top of that can be really expensive. Taksraven
