Nah, I think that the Shadow Chronicles can be seen as the last throw of the dice for HG in regards to RT. I think that it played an instrumental role in helping them secure the interest of WB in the LAM (Who approached who, do we know? Did HG shop this stuff to WB, or was it the fact that Tobey knew about RT?) If the LAM does happen, we will probably see more Robotech in some soft of format, if it doesn't happen, I think that RT is effectively dead and buried, apart from more crappy merchandise..... Since we have Best SF film and Worst SF film threads, now its time to try to cover some of the middle ground. Its simple, talk about SF films that you think are badly underrated or overrated, just make sure you specify which category the film you are talking about fits into to avoid confusion. Of course, some of us are going to agree/disagree, but lets not get too narky if a "sacred cow" comes under the microscope...... I'll start with one in each category. An underrated film (the one that actually got this thread started) was "Reign of Fire". Certainly not a Shakespearean classic, but also not the pile of dung that many of the reviewers said it was either. Great B-movie fun. (The B-movie genre of SF does have a battered reputation though) An overrated film, Blade Runner. I'm not saying that its a really bad film or the worst film ever, I just don't think that it deserves to have the reputation that is attached to it. OK, lets run with this..... Taksraven

I think that EVERYTHING in Hollywood has a short fuse these days, so this would be no surprise to me at all. Does Sept 15 have any significance in regards to when WB came onboard. (would it be the two-year anniversary of when the LAM deal was signed/announced, whatever.......) The only thing that doesn't make sense about that date being the end of the line for the LAM if it doesn't get the go-ahead is that I find it hard to imagine that WB would be willing to toss its garbage over its shoulder, only to have it picked up by somebody else and then made into a film. Is it at all possible that WB also has the rights to some other similar franchise involving transforming/giant robots. Is it possible that there is a rival project within WB itself and they have the two playing off against each other to see which one gets made. A bet each way maybe?? You could clearly see that that was the type of shite they were trying to pull in the Shadow Chronicles, by introducing the bad guy that HG owns entirely, so this possibility would not surprise me at all.
