As long as there are accountants at the company that think it must be worth something. That or they might try to sell it eventually. Imagine that. HG with no control of Robotech. Actually, is a sale of Robotech rights even possible, if so, what impact could that have on previous RT agreements and court rulings?

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time
taksraven replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
This little gem just finished on TV here, The Amazing Captain Nemo. Has everything you could want from a SF film from '78. Laser battles, bad dialogue and even a Darth Vader clone..... -

Still using the expression "protoculture" as well. Even though it is used differently, it is still a word that they stole from Macross, of course.... Yeah, Macross Plus *TOTALLY* ripped off the Robotech Novels!!!!

Any other "Thing" fans out there?

Bottom. This episode in particular, especially the bit where Richard "forgets how to talk", is simply one of the funniest things I have ever seen. The first time I saw it I was reduced to a helpless, giggling state. Great fun. -
"Tax shelter" sounds like something I would say, but I'm not taking credit for it. I think that the investment in RT:LAM might be some sort of tax dodge for Mr McGuire as well.

Pure......comedy.........GOLD!!!!!!!! So just our of curiosity. If this infringement notice was ignored, what would be the next step for HG? I think it could be argued that Robotech 3000 was an attempt at a reboot, and that *really* went places.....

More realistic shark footage... -
Probably the mentality that the "original story hasn't been finished or brought to an acceptable conclusion" is the sort of thing that would stop a lot of fanboys from wanting a reboot. Shadow Chronicles promised a lot but that has led nowhere. HG, in their infinite wisdom, is probably worried about further dividing a fanbase that is already divided and dwindling.

But that was the point. The makeup didn't matter for one second, it was the concepts being explored that were important, like many other 80's films. -
This stuff needs its own thread. (yeah right, like that would happen)

Check out "They Live" too. There were quite a few films in the 80's, (some by Carpenter, a few by Verhoven and a few others) that had great action/horror moments but also had great senses of humor, which has become a lost art in many of these films. They were designed to be enjoyable, which is no crime. -
I still think that the legal problems with Macross will still be enough to ultimately kill the Live-Action Movie anyway.
