Who is going to die in Macross Frontier???
taksraven replied to taksraven's topic in Movies and TV Series
Dunno what you are taking the credit for, its all MY fault, sob.... Taksraven -
Hear hear, great point. Yeah, not a good idea to utilise them as a "slave" warrior race. Taksraven

Yeah. The problem would be the casting of a remake. I know that Bowie might not be the greatest actor of all time but he still has this awesome onscreen presence that few other actors could manage. (He was an excellent casting choice in The Prestige in a great role) Taksraven

Exactly right. The songs would sound "wrong" and there would be no point. I love Rammstein and they did do a few english language versions of their songs, but I still prefer the original German ones. Taksraven

Funny you should say that. I only noticed recently that the sound of spaceships emerging from fold in Macross Frontier sounds a LOT like the sound effect for the cargo bay doors opening and closing on the Enterprise in Next Gen. There are a few modifications to the effect but if you listen to it I think its clear that the Frontier audio FX team have used part of the sound effect. Thats the other thing about sound effects. Its really easy to use them in such a way that they are unrecognisable, either by slowing them down, speeding them up, or mixing them in with other sound effects. Taksraven

ha ha. Yeah, I know that other shows have had similar things but it would still be unique and interesting in the Macross universe. ESPECIALLY if it was set during Space War I. (A great climax for the show would either be the battle on Mars or Kamjins first assault after SDF1 had arrived back on earth.) Taksraven

I love them. Actually, a fantastic idea for a small - scale Macross ova would be to feature Destroid pilots in the main roles, focussing on their role in combat. For a miniseries it would be great. Of course a lot of Macross purists would start screaming that any Macross series should only focus on Valk pilots. Valks and their pilots could still be featured, and the destroid pilots could bitch about them and how they get all the attention. C'mon, you must admit, this would be a great idea for a mini-series or side story. Taksraven

Pretty staggering stuff. You would think that things would have to be pretty well sorted out legally before a project could get to this level of production. I think that Fox is talking crap, knowing full well that there is no way WB would let them stop this project from being released. Fox is just trying to up the money they get. BUT, if things go go badly wrong, and I mean BADLY, we might just have the most expensive unreleased film in history. (Bootleg versions would appear on the net though.) Taksraven

History of MacrossWorld...
taksraven replied to Sulendil Ang's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
Great idea for a thread, even if it is a little narcissitic, (forgive my shabby spelling). I think that most of us could put down the date that they became a member as a day in history. I started lurking here in the Macross Zero days and I have been looking at the Macross Compendium since Macross Plus. (What happened to that live action macross series that was mentioned there). Its also thanks to this site that I first discovered the true joys of bittorrent and turned my back on Kazaa, yay...... Overall, this website and forum is a great experience. Nice people to talk to, interesting topics to cover, the occasional scandal and bitchiness that most net people thrive on, very nice mods who like a bit of brownnosing, etc...... The only aspect that bugs me at times and this is more of a general gripe about Macross fandom in general rather than this site in particular, is the snobby attitude that some people have towards those of us who originally discovered Macross through Robotech. Some people can't understand that, especially in some areas, Robotech was the only way for teens to get access to Macross. Anyway, lets continue to celebrate the history of the site and have fun. Does anybody else remember the old www.bootlegactionfigures.com website?? Does anybody know what happened to it? Does it still exist? It used to have great stuff and was a pleasure to browse. Anybody able to help out? Taksraven

Thats right, and its easy enough to ignore sequels too. As far as I'm concerned Robocops 2,3, and the TV series do not exist and i would never bother with them. Never seen Blues Brothers 2000 and I never will. Problem is that its impossible to erase the horror of Jar Jar from the human mind. Taksraven

Absolutely right. I think that the problem is that the studio's are so cheap that they would rather work with stories and franchises that they already have the rights too, rather than fork out for some 'risky' new material. Taksraven

What is it with you and females? This franchise needs to be put on ice for a loooooooooong time. When they talk about the live-action series and how it will go for years and they expect to make hundreds of episodes, etc..... I shudder. If they were going to film ANYTHING, I would be interested in seeing some adventures set after the fall of the Empire. Plenty of stuff to be explored there. Taksraven -
I was EXPECTING to get the trailer for this before Dark Knight but did not. Very annoyed. The Smashing Pumpkins song for the trailer was excellent. Would make a great theme for any comic film. Both versions of the song are cool. To be honest, I would not mind a slightly shorter version in the cinema as long as we got an extended version on DVD. I thought that this idea worked really well with LOTR and if they wanted to do a cinema re-release of the extended version later, they could. If it was truly successful, I wonder if they would be idiotic enough to attempt Watchmen 2. That would be funny. Taksraven

This movie is pointless. ST needs to be rested for a few decades and if it is ever brought back it needs to continue on after Voyager. One of the most boring movie and tv franchises in history. Taksraven

Pointless to speculate about this at the moment. If it happens, it happens. Taksraven

Downey in blackface will probably have the political correctness squadron mobilised in full force. I would have to see it before I passed judgement, unlike others. Taksraven

Tell you what, instead of Demolition Man 2, why don't they film a version of THE DEMOLISHED MAN instead. There are thousands of good SF books and short stories out there that could be easily filmed now thanks to CGI. I would love to see more NEW film adaptations of OLD books and stuff that previously had been considered to be unfilmable. I am hoping that Watchmen, even though the source is a comic, will be a good example of this. Taksraven

The premiere was picketed by people protesting the portrayal of "retards" (not my word) in the movie. These people should have picketed every Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider ever made. What a bunch of Johnny-come-lateleys. Taksraven

Kult of Klan is a bit scary, at least to me. You boys need to take a cold shower. (I am copyrighting the expression Kult of Klan, just in case it catches on. More appropriate than Klan of Klan) Taksraven
