Hang on! I thought that (insert persons name) was dead!
taksraven replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It would sound much cooller if you had said that he was dead for *sixx* minutes!!! Taksraven -
Video Games that SHOULD be turned into movies......

I always thought that a more accurate term was "computer games" but this term seems to have fallen out of fashion in recent years. Taksraven -

You are probably right, but as it says at the start of the thread, they are going to make them anyway whether we like it or not so they should do good ones. Taksraven -
How about Sly Stallone as Captain America, since he did such a *good* job as Judge Dread?? Taksraven

I know that I am starting this thread a little bit prematurely with a few more weeks to run with Macross Frontier, but I think an interesting discussion would be the future of this great franchise. Basically, where do you think the series will go after Frontier (that is assuming that Frontier will not have a Space Runaway Ideon style ending with much of the universe being destroyed). Maybe another series set aboard a colony fleet, maybe a story set on Earth or some other planet. Maybe another prequel-style series set in some part of the history of the Macross universe. As well as speculation about where we may be taken next, I think that opinions should be sought as to where people believe a future series should go. DO we want another series set on a colony fleet, would people be happy to see a return to a place such as Eden, maybe there should be a further exploration of the Zentradi race since everybody seems to have enjoyed it so much in this series? Well, have a think about it and share your thoughts. Personally, I would like to see a series about humans living in a macronised Zentradi society. Maybe a Valk squadron assigned to a Zentradi fleet for some reason. It would be a bit of a role-reversal and could serve to give some interesting perspectives on living in alien cultures.

If they remade Superman again, maybe they could hire actors to play Supes and Lois instead of the robots they used in Returns. The chick playing lois is one of the most boring pieces of garbage I have ever seen in my life. Taksraven

Oh, and I cant believe that I forgot to mention BATTLETRUCK and Q THE WINGED SERPENT. Great stuff..... Taksraven

Nah, I enjoyed the novelisation of Krull (Alan Dean Foster, I think), but the movie was *missing* something. We need reviews of really good films like STARCRASH, BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS and FANTASTIC PLANET!!!!! TAKSRAVEN

Come on, there are plenty of games out there that should be on the big screen if they insist. Games with more plot and interesting storylines than the likes of DOOM. My quick picks for adaptations that would have potential: MANHUNT - Hollywood loves violence and horror. It would be great. Soldier of Fortune - A new Rambo for the 21st century. (With cooler guns than Rambo) Baldurs Gate series - Could be done cheaper than LOTR and would be interesting. Anybody else got any suggestions?? Taksraven

As for Dub or Sub, its nice to have a choice of either. The creation of DVD's with multiple audio and subtitle tracks really did make this argument redundant. And outdated. Go with the new flow and demand to be able to swing either way!!! Taksraven
-
Interesting question, but as a NIN fan I know that most of us swing either way...... Taksraven (Trent is God)

Hang on! I thought that (insert persons name) was dead!
taksraven replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
HA! You could do that if he was dead anyway. There was an old trick that people used to do with old vinyl records where they would slow down Kylie Minogue songs and her slower voice would end up sounding like it was Rick Astley. Great stuff. Taksraven -
Who is going to die in Macross Frontier???
taksraven replied to taksraven's topic in Movies and TV Series
Gee, THREE separate death threads running at the moment. And people accused me of being morbid when I started this one! Taksraven -
Saw the trailer today. It does look impressive (but most trailers do). It could be interesting as long as they don't stuff it up. Taksraven

Who had the manliest death in Macross?
taksraven replied to sucker4meltrans's topic in Movies and TV Series
I don't think that the spirit of the poll has been lost on people, I just think that people go off track with discussions. Nothing wrong with that. Forget about a poll for the most tragic death, we need one for the GIRLIEST death in Macross. Taksraven -

Just looked it up then and it was truly scary. He was born in 1934 which makes him a year younger than MY FATHER!! You are right. He has looked really old when he was in The Thing back in the 80's. I was going to say that Barry Morse (Victor Bergman in Space:1999) was one of the oldest actors I could think of, but I just looked him up and he's dead! Died in February. Damn! Great actor. Maybe I need to start the "Thought they were alive but they were actually dead thread."! Just checked and Harry Morgan (Col. Potter from MASH) was still alive and kicking. (Hopefully not kicking his wife again that is) That was a funny one. They did a story about Harry Morgan on a local radio station here in the 1990's and they started the story and second presenter groaned and said "Has he died??" and the newsreader continued with the story which turned out to be about his arrest for assaulting his wife. (To be fair, I think that they were both drunkenly fighting each other) Taksraven -
Its an interesting comment that you have made about being able to spot censorship as a kid. I was often able to do the same thing with some Japanese programs when I was young. Star Blazers/Space Cruiser Yamato was the main offender and even that left much of the violence in. The funniest one I found out about years later was when a Gamilon Commander was going to ram his vessel into the Argo. In the English dub he yelled out just before the crash "We're going to crash into them!!" implying that the collision was an accident but then I found out much later on that in the Japanese version the commander yells "Long Live Leader Desslock (Desslar??)" indicating that it was a Kamikaze run. I thought that it was interesting that the censors attitude was that it was ok to show the Gamilon cruiser crashing and all on board dying, just as long as the kiddies believed it was an accident and not suicide. I think that often people censor these programs and just think that the "dumb kids" will not notice. This was especially true at times for the series Monkey!, when I could just tell in some sequences that bits were missing. Taksraven

Check it out.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.I._Joe:_The_Movie Seems like Hasbro turned into a bunch of scaredy cats after the backlash of Prime's death and made it so "Duke" survived. We never got G.I. Joe on TV in Aus so the series means nothing to me. I will admit, Sgt. Slaughter is one of the best character names I have ever heard. Taksraven

This whole mess is still unbelievably idiotic, with both studio's acting like morons. Taksraven

I can see this degenerating into the "We wish they were dead thread" (Yay, still rhymes) Taksraven -

I am not a big fan of the "troll" expression anyway, since it is mostly used as a derogatory expression by people just trying to get others to shut up. (I used to be called a troll quite a bit back in my usenet days) Taksraven (formerly known as The Insensitive Troll) -
Love your work, Mr March, truly outstanding. I was wondering if you were ever going to be able to put some of the Destroids and Anti-UN units (other than the variable fighters) from Macross Zero on your page. It would be great to see them. Taksraven
