  1. Always loved that middle shot of Isamu standing on the transparent floor. Taksraven
  2. C'mon, we are still trying to recover from the arrival of ASS-1 in 1999 and Second Impact in 2000. As well as the discovery of that monolith thingy on the moon. This was especially interesting because the moon was blasted out of orbit in 1999. BTW, when is Third Impact supposed to occur? Taksraven

  4. I think its fair to say that the Robotech Live Action movie is at a stage in Hollywood known as DEVELOPMENT HELL. A lot of movies don't emerge from this stage. The Jim Cameron film Avatar, which is due to come out late next year, has been in the works since 1995, with a lot of that time spent in development hell. Taksraven
  5. Whoa! Look out Sheryl, Alto is up to THREE votes!!! Taksraven
  6. Quite agree. Evangelion was one of the best of its decade, if not THE best. Taksraven
  7. Is there any negative criticism, you have GOT to be kidding me. This series has drawn more than its fair share of criticism for a huge number of reasons, ranging from negative comparisons to other Macross series to the fact that in one episode Ranka was drawn badly for a couple of seconds. If you frequent these forums enough you should know all about it. Taksraven
  8. Sorry for generalising. Can you forgive me?? Taksraven
  9. What he said. Taksraven
  10. Bobby was another character who would have really benefitted from more screen time. He was a classic. Taksraven
  11. Seriously, I would have liked it if there had been a proper Vajra "character/s". Remember how we all thought that when the Vajra "corpse" revived in the chamber before Leon destroyed it and we all thought we could see a humanoid shape appear in its head. Its a pity that it was never expanded upon. Taksraven
  12. About the Vogon poetry, I rather liked it, with its surrealism of the underlying metaphor. Taksraven
  13. Probably the best response. Its not really fair to compare Macross productions to each other. Each production has its own merits. Taksraven (Woo-Hoo, 800 it is)
  14. I don't think that there will be too many people upset about that one. Taksraven
  15. Yeah, don't forget that Starfleet is *not* supposed to be a military organisation. (That was always a bit of a joke as far as I was concerned. If it wasn't supposed to be a military organisation it certainly seemed like one.) Taksraven
  16. No, its three main characters (triangle, get it), Alto, Sheryl and Ranka. If you're not sure just watch both versions of the opening titles over and over again until you get it. Taksraven
  17. I understand that sentiment. I don't consider myself a "fan" like I am of shows like Macross but I will certainly watch the films and tv shows and I know how silly a lot of the die hard fans of this show can be. As a side note, I am currently watching all of ST:Voyager as I missed most of it when it was on tv. The episode I watched the other day, "Tuvix" was a revelation and possibly one of the greatest Star Trek episodes I have seen from any series. I won't go into details for those who have not seen it, but I will say that the best part about the episode was the ending, which I loved because it was a very uncomfortable one, which is breaking a lot of Trek rules. 18. Good luck with the dog. We lost our dog a few months ago (and when I say lost, I mean that the neighbours jumped the fence, opened out gate and either let our dog out or took it god knows where, bloody bastards) and so I know how tough it is to be facing a possible loss. Just be brave. Taksraven
  19. Well, one point that is mentioned in the books is the possibility that the aliens that originally created the monoliths that guide and shape humanity are themselves possibly extinct. It is certain that the 2001 aliens gave up true physical form and became beings of light and energy which means that there is no chance of humanity ever really encountering them, only the devices the aliens have left behind. That to me sounds a lot like the humans dealings with the protoculture in Macross. I still think a good future Macross series would involve humanity encountering the surviving remnants of the protoculture. I know that it would break some rules but it could be really interesting. Essentially it would be New Protoculture Vs. the Old Protoculture. Taksraven
  20. Have to generally agree with that sentiment, but 10-15 year old boys were the primary target demographic for that show, how could I resist. Its the same as when I watch old episodes of Buck Rogers and absolutely cringe. What is also amazing about a lot of those 80's shows when you watch them now, its easy to notice how padded out they were. Clearly the scripts were not that well written. The truly terrifying thing is that recently I have been having a Star Trek:TNG retrospective and I have been finding that I am enjoying it more now that what I did when I was in my early 20's when it was first coming out. The reason has to be that I fit more into the target demographics of that program now. Like a friend said to me, when you are younger, you want something like starship troopers. Taksraven
  21. You do realise that you are committing the blasphemy of picking on Patrick Stewart. Naughty, Naughty!!! Taksraven
  22. I get more nostalgic when I look at old Usenet posts. The true history of the Internet. Taksraven
  23. Starfleet 90210. This looks like it will have the fans of the original series clutching their dvd's/videos of the original screaming "MY PRECIOUSSSSSSSSSSS" Considering the fact that most of the fans never warmed to Wil Wheaton in TNG, I doubt that they will ever be able to stand this crew. Yes, I know that the film is meant to have a much broader appeal than just the fans of the original, but will it appeal to a younger generation anyway? And I have to say, that bridge looks like one of the gayest in history. What the hell is that workstation that Uhura is standing at? Man, it looks like she should be using it to sell mobile phones. I think that they did a better job in Macross Frontier of modernising the bridge of the Macross Quarter without it looking silly. And Kirk is a blackshirt, gimme a break, PLEASE!!!!!???? Even though the guy playing Kirk is 28, he is still way too young. Shatner was about 35 when he started playing Kirk. Its only 7 years but it makes a BIG difference. Let the internet howling begin. Taksraven
  24. Mercy is for the weak! Taksraven
  25. You missed the point then. Watch it again. Taksraven
