Looking specifically at anime, which mecha do you think is a truly hideous sight to see? My vote goes to the New GodPhoenix from Gatchaman II. Not exactly mecha in the purest sense of the term, it is still one of the ugliest pieces of hardware ever seen, especially when compared to its iconic predecessor from the original Gatchaman series. To be fair though, most of the designs in Gatchaman II were absolute garbage. Taksraven

Iron Man 2 (Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow!)

Agreed. She might look all nice and pretty onscreen but she can't act and is ultimately booooooring. Anybody see her in the Prestige? Mein Gott! She stuffed that up big time! Taksraven -

Several Macross Articles at Wikipedia need your help!!!

That sort of Wikipedia logic just boggles my mind. I thought that the purpose of an encyclopaedia was to put information into one place, to create a useful resource. It can be a screwy information resource anyway. I have tried in the past to get certain pages on Wikipedia to be more 'balanced and unbiased', but there are people who hang out there *all day every day* who want to push a certain bias. (This has been the case with political pages rather than Macross ones) Then the stupid bastards give themselves and each other these moronic stars to try to say how good they are. Taksraven -

Maybe similar in concept to the end of 2001, but as far as presentation goes, it screamed out (to me at least), "OH, SH!T, WE HAVE RUN OUT OF MONEY"!! Which I believe was actually the case anyway. Better to have everybody blow up in spectacular fashion. (Thats just me though, I love nihilistic, grim endings, they usually signal to me that the makers have balls. Warm and fuzzy happy endings rarely ring true for me) Taksraven -

I love the way that so many people seem to think that writing is an easy process. God, its so hard, (I have tried) and to end a story is very, very difficult and it is so very hard to please everybody or anybody at times for that matter. So many writers get stuck just trying to tie up all of the loose ends that a lot of endings become very rushed and jumbled affairs with varying degrees of success. (Macross Frontier and Macross Zero are perfect examples of this) And a lot of the fans are still pissed off anyway. Personally, I think that writers might as well say "screw the fans, they're going to hate this no matter what we do" for the final chapters/episodes of a saga. Both Evangelion endings were examples of this. The TV series ending mysteriously and the Movie series ending with "Kill em all". The TV series The Prisoner was another one that decided to end on a mysterious ending, and I think that worked well. I like it best when writers go to the absolute extreme and finish a show, even when they know that they won't revisit it again, on a cliffhanger! I love cliffhanger endings and to finish a show with one is an outstanding idea. (One of the best examples was the ending of Blake's Seven, always loved that one) Taksraven -
Whatever you want. If you don't like what I say just ignore me, I'm not trying to start WWIII here. Taksraven

I dunno about that. Watching Star Trek V is like picking up a hammer and smashing yourself in the face with it repeatedly. Taksraven

Time travel does not have to be a crap plot device (look at Star Trek IV), but the way it was used in the TV series was terrible! Taksraven

Its a good idea for marketing, Trek has never been aimed at women in THAT way, so it could be a success. Taksraven

Partially true. What also killed Enterprise was the fact that ST was waaaay too mass produced creating the old quantity vs. quality problems AND the series had a nit-picky fanbase that was really taking the show for granted. If anything there needed to be a bigger gap between the production of Voyager and Enterprise. It means that you don't overwork the writers and you give them space to come up with new ideas. Make those fans go without it for a while, they they will appreciate it more! Thats why if they do go ahead and make another TV series now, it would be courting disaster again. If this film is successful (and I think it will be) they should let the production team continue with a few more films over the coming years and THEN start the moves to take it back to TV where it really belongs. Some of their Macross articles also contain Robotech info. THAT is more of an insult. Taksraven -
First band you saw, who supported, where and when....... Rollins Band, supported by Tumbleweed and Kim Salmon & the Surrealists at the Hordern Pavillion, late '94, I think. Taksraven

Makes you wonder. Even with a race of giants, how long would it take to build a structure of that size and where would you get the resources from? It would be easier to hollow out a planetoid. (or is that what its supposed to be?) Actually, thats an idea that has fallen out of fashion in SF but used to be a great concept. Asteroid Spaceships! Taksraven

Its the same with Angelina Jolie. The first thing I saw her in was that stupid "Pushing Tin" and as soon as I saw that she was covered in tats I didn't want to know about her. And I haven't changed my opinion. Tats are for pro's, parolee's and jailbirds. (Sorry if I am offending any tats victims here, but they are FUGLY.) Taksraven
