Have to agree, what a hideous, wretched piece of garbage. Unless those arms extend I don't think that they could grab anything. Maybe the enemy is supposed to laugh themselves to death when they see it! Taksraven

Generations had some good moments. Especially Data with "Oh poo!". The bit where Picard went into the Nexus was absolutely terrible though. Taksraven

New Yamato Anime to Open in Japanese Theaters in 2009

What was wrong with 2520? Never got the chance to see it but would love too even if it sucks. Taksraven -
Undiscovered Country was OK. Most of the original cast films were OK *EXCEPT* for V. (Everybody knows that) First Contact was good on paper but sucked onscreen. ("So you guys are on some sort of Star Trek", ugh) Nemesis had potential but they really-REALLY screwed it up. The one b4 nemesis was bloody terrible too. Taksraven

I had that book years ago, my worthless brother has it now. Its really cool and has fantastic artwork, can't remember the name though. (Actually, would it be possible to get a scan of the shot of Australia after the colony dropped on it?) Taksraven

Can't keep a good ship down..... A bit X-rated, but true. Taksraven -
Possible cast and enemy for David Tennants final story as Dr Who. Nothing confirmed yet, sounds like a bit of an educated guess to me. Usual spoiler warning, don't read if you don't want to know...... Taksraven

Critics always get things wrong. I remember years ago when they were all raving about Life is Beautiful and when I saw it I thought it was a HUGE pile of shite. Taksraven

I dunno, I've seen some interesting audience reactions in Australia over the years. * Groans, shocked laughter and a single solitary cry of "MUMMY" when Neve Campbell started kissing Denise Richards in Wild Things. * Laughter, cheering AND screaming during Starship Troopers. There was also some horror at what Dizzy's breasts looked like..... * A guy leaving the theatre in disgust and slamming the door behind him due to the violence in Hana Bi. * Real shock and disgust when John Travolta blows the guys head off in Pulp Fiction. * Audiences breaking into loud cheers when Jack Nicholson stuffs up at the end of A Few Good Men.... I dunno, maybe these reactions are just universal. I think that Trek will have a hard sell but I think that the trailer stuffs up with the daggy logo at the end with the transporter sound effect and silly music. The rest of the trailer is great. Which part of Australia specifically were you in to see this trailer, BTW? (Suburb that is) Taksraven

Why not have human coloured skin and normal eyes and general appearance. I think in terms of appearance there may be some limitation to his powers. (If I'm wrong, whatever, just don't go off at me like a fanboy.... ) Taksraven

I think that Nishizaki AND Leiji Matsumoto are both off their heads in their own unique ways, thats why their combo worked with Yamato...... Taksraven -
Looks like Sinistar...... Taksraven

Christ, I am one minute into this story and already I feel like I have been transported back to the late 80's with everybody at pains to explain what manga and anime are. Just finished watching the whole thing, not bad. Dennis Hopper has a fried brain. (Obvious statement, I know.) Taksraven

I didn't say that DVD would be the saving grace of this film, just that the sales should still be good. Advertising budgets are usually well hidden and are rarely counted as part of the production costs of the film. (Publicly at least.) I doubt that there would be a huge panic about superhero films in Hollywood yet. Watchmen is an isolated case in every sense of the word and since its a standalone, there will *never* be talk of a sequel. If one of the truly gigantic superhero franchises stumbled, however, such as Batman, THEN you would see people in Hollywood really start to push the panic button. Personally, I think that we can all see that the Superhero/comic film market is really becoming oversaturated, and with projects like the "Justice League" live-action film being put on "indefinite hiatus", I think that some Hollywood people are starting to come to see the oversaturation of the market as well. Of course the global financial crisis will give some studio's the excuse to put other projects on delay or hold as well. Taksraven

I think that you're pretty close to the truth there. And lot of it can be attributed to "creativity" and a *lot* of designs that were truly out there. (Bioroids having to ride hoversleds with no rocket thrusters of their own? What drugs were the designers doing?) Its a double-edged sword though, on one hand you have to admire the fact that they had the guts to go with such outlandish designs, but on the other hand, you had to look at really ugly mecha. I still think, however, not wanting to go too off-topic, that the biggest problem with Southern Cross was a story concept that was poor from the outset, rather than the designs. Taksraven

It still managed to look cool in combat. Taksraven

Forgot about the Logan, a verrrrryyyy poorly designed piece of garbage and hideous in BOTH modes, quite an achievement. It made the hovertank look good by comparison. Taksraven

According to media reports, the film is starting to go belly-up box-office-wise. Not a huge surprise there. Should do some respectable business on DVD though. Taksraven

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
taksraven replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Don't jinx the new Terminator film by mentioning that rotting, stinking corpse of a truly ruined franchise. (But I still think that we will see another dedicated Alien film within a decade, whether we want it or not.) Taksraven -

For a fan since the 80's, that is a beautiful sight. Thanks SOOOOOO much for that news, made my day. I take it that this means that there must have been some sort of resolution on the rights issue, anybody know whats going on there? Can't wait! Taksraven -
Is Grace a mecha?? Does she have a pilot?? I mean, who would want to climb into her?? Taksraven
