Yep. Its a truly terrible shot scale-wise. And WHERE are her arms going? Did that error get fixed up on Blu-Ray or did they let it though. Taksraven

Bah, don't get too worried about the English language getting corrupted. Its always been an absolute mongrel of a language, put together from others, and words and expressions fall in and out of fashion and context all the time. Taksraven

I take it that everybody has seen this. I *really* wish that they had used this as a basis for a new OAV. Its great!! Taksraven Berg Katse in particular looks AWESOME in it!!!!

I think that deciding a best anime EVER is a very tough call, especially when it is so diverse. You can choose between OAV's TV Series and Movies, you can choose anime genre's and you can also go by era's/decades that they were made in and on top of all that it is simply easy to forget shows. If I HAD to choose I would normally go by decades, and even then I could never pick just one. Starting with the 1970's, I would choose Gatchaman (original series) and Space Cruiser Yamato/Star Blazers. Going into the 1980s, I would give that decade to the original SDF:Macross no probs. (Akira gets an honourable mention too) The 90's would be a tie between Macross Plus, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory. And the 00's I would choose Macross Zero and Macross Frontier. I generally prefer SF anime so there is nothing else really represented here and I am still omitting a lot even then. Its a tough call. Taksraven is the best poster on MW!
taksraven replied to yellowlightman's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Aw shucks, Yellowlightman, the feeling is totally mutual. I wanna do it with you too..... Seriously though, I have been working as a teacher for a decade now and I deal with unreasonable, unjustifiable, and psychopathic hatred being directed at me every day, often by people who I have only just met, but I am surprised that I still don't always handle it that well all the time. When you deal with a person hating you face to face, however, you stand at least some chance of being able to resolve it. When it is internet hatred with no apparent justification and you are unable to grab the gutless person who is abusing you across the electronic medium and throttle them (in other words, take it outside), it is VERY hard to know what to do. I could respond with abuse and taunts myself, or complaining and whining, but when the abuser feeds off these things there is little point in engaging. I am not that big on abuse and taunts either and rarely engage in them, so its hardly like we are on a level playing field in this arena anyway. Henry Rollins once said that when people tried to make him less, they actually made him more. Thats the way I deal with Yellowlightmans hatred and abuse. I'm not going to go running to the mods this time, or seek the support of others. I will just acknowledge that I can take this crap and come out of it stronger. I know that this post will only bring more hatred, abuse and bile from Yellowlightman, but I don't care. He tries to pick his victims to bully carefully. He won't pick on the owners of this forum, or the mods, or other regular posters. Like a typical 'brave' bully, he just goes against those he thinks he can beat. Like I said, he can treat me like crap, abuse me, whatever, I don't care. In the end, its only words. So for now Yellowlightman, we will not be able to consumate our love. Waiting eagerly for the day that we can. Yours, as always.... Taksraven. (PS, you can put THIS in your sig) -

I really enjoyed the mystery of the Vajra at the start of the series, but I think that as the series progressed that they did need a more humanoid and communicative presence. The whole "enemy within" thing with Grace was fine but I found it hard to get any sort of emotional attachment to the Vajra themselves. (I didn't like Aikun) There were a few points during the series when a few of us thought that it was going to be revealed that the Vajra were a biomechanical organism with a possibly humanoid pilot but that never came to pass, unfortunately.

Don't forget though, HG DID try to create a product with "original" designs and were howled down..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robotech_3000 Taksraven

One of the truest statements that I have ever read on this forum. It seems to be a shame that fandom of many SF and anime programs seems to be degenerating more and more from simple enjoyment of a popular show into a real "I could do better, even though I can't write for crap" amongst fans. I dunno who really opened the door to this attitude, but it really seems to be spreading and growing. Dr Who fandom is really rife with it at the moment, and it really hurts the show, I think. I LOVE the Robotech SDF-2. I LOVE the way that it was portrayed in the Robotech version of Macross and I especially LOVE the way that it was portrayed in the novels. It was easily one of the worst parts of the 'adaptation'. Taksraven
