I haven't heard about the cloning being banned before in the Macross universe, but I think that it would actually have to have been pretty widespread, esp. if the human/Zentraedi races were to expand so far across the universe and so quickly after SW1. Its interesting how a lot of the technology other than valk-related stuff DONT get discussed so much. Taksraven

V remake - new TV series coming to ABC
taksraven replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It was good, don't know if I would quite go as far as awesome. If anything, the original V was unique, at least, at the time. It seemed to be a fairly good attempt at producing an "adult" SF production (even though heaps of us watched it as kids). It was very, very dark. The TV series wasn't as great, but given the demands of network TV at the time its a wonder that it was produced at all. Taksraven -
Well thats close to what I would like to see. Romulans, Klingons, Borg, whatever..... Its all been done before. Time to add a new and hopefully interesting enemy to the Star Trek canon. Taksraven

Yeah maybe, but there was always more to Trek than space battles. What about the seeking new worlds and exploring crap..... Taksraven

Robotech and HG License Debates

Harsh, but still understated. Good writing. Taksraven -
Known this for about a year now. No surprise. I have a suggestion though. Listen to "The Target" and then listen to Holst's Mars. You will notice a few parts in particular that are quite similar. I have no problem with this, in fact I think that Holst's Mars pointed the way for ALL good SF soundtracks, even though it was written way before SF films did have soundtracks. In fact, noticing what you say about John Williams, I would suggest that both the SW and MacF songs you refer to rip off Mars rather than each other. But, once again, thats ok. I think that release-wise, that some of the orchestral stuff from Frontier has not been done justice, as there are STILL a few key instrumental tracks that have not been released on CD yet. They do a dedicated VOCAL soundtrack, how about a dedicated ORCHESTRAL one??? Taksraven

Robotech and HG License Debates
taksraven replied to TheLoneWolf's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I think that they should have left the second moon in and claimed that it was the Zentradi Factory Satellite. Would have made about as much sense as the "SDF 2" in "To the Stars". Taksraven -

Technically, prequels are really tough, especially if you wanted to do a good one. Its really hard to be creative and not step on the toes of the material to follow. Taksraven

Robotech and HG License Debates
taksraven replied to TheLoneWolf's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
If HG was "asleep at the wheel" for the video release of Mac+, how come they let the DVD release happen? Also, do we know what HG's main source of income is these days? DVD's, TV rights, merch? Is anybody in the world still broadcasting Robotech? Taksraven -
Its funny, a friend of mine who is usually critical of Star Trek was disappointed that they DIDN'T press the reset button at the end of this film. Doesn't like the fact that this is going to continue in an alternate reality. Anybody else thinking like this? Taksraven

Hope for the die hard original Macross fan...
taksraven replied to bzdup's topic in Movies and TV Series
I definitely agree with those who say that the show should keep moving forwards. A little backwards glance is OK once in a while (I loved the fact that Macross Zero gave us a little bit more time with Roy and Macross 7 gave us a little bit more time with Max and Miriya) but the series really should keep moving ahead. Like I have said before, I would love it if a future program had humans finally encountering the Protoculture. That would be the enemy to end all enemies as far as Macross goes. Taksraven -
Who's the biggest horndog in all of anime?

I think that biggest hornbag would be much more interesting than horndog. Taksraven -

V remake - new TV series coming to ABC
taksraven replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I agree with those who say that they prefer the original design of the ships. The new ones look strange. Actually, this series will probably be missing one of the best elements of the original program which was Jane Badler. (Who now lives in Australia, I would like to point out) She had the right combo of beautiful and deadly, dunno if the new chick can manage. I wonder if we are going to keep the blatant Nazism of the original series. I hope that the conversion process will now involve naked actresses rather than girls in bodystockings. I hope its good.
