Robotech and HG License Debates

If that is an attempt to combine cyber and hyper, it looks really cool. If it just a typo, it still looks cool. Love it. Taksraven -
The Transformers 2 Thread--A Michael Bay thread
taksraven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Saw it. Meh. Bring in the Beast Wars writers please. As well as some decent actors, and maybe a person who knows how to direct, and then some proper editors, etc......... Taksraven -
I would not hold my breath for that.... Taksraven

Nah, the part I find funny is when people are bagging this out because of the lack of characterisation, good dialog or storyline. Surely these deficiencies makes it exactly the same as Transformers G1. I like TF because of the original three seasons of Beast Wars and I doubt that BW will ever be surpassed. Good action, storylines, characterisation and really funny dialog. Superior stuff. (And anybody who says "truk not munky" needs to grow a brain.) Taksraven -
Well, the announcement of a second movie is good news anyway. Happy to hear it. Taksraven

Robotech and HG License Debates
taksraven replied to TheLoneWolf's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Just an interesting comparison. On the wikipedia Macross page, Robotech is mentioned once, on the Southern Cross page it is mentioned fifteen times, and on the Mospeada page it is mentioned twenty-two times. Time to pull the thumb out, Southern Cross and Mospeada boys and girls, and protect your franchise. Taksraven (I didn't count the number of times that RT is mentioned in the RT box that some person has been kind enough to insert at the bottom of both the Southern Cross and Mospeada pages.) -
Robotech and HG License Debates

I wouldn't get too worked up about it, I can think of ways and words of describing it that are far worse.... Taksraven -
Nope. I can never accept the view that if a person is dead they should then be given some sort of magical social shield to protect them from the sins that they have committed during their lives. As far as I am concerned "don't speak ill of the dead" is crap. I went to high school with an absolute moron, who saw fit to abuse me physically and emotionally in very extreme ways. But it seemed that it was only myself and a few others that he decided to be nasty to. To other people, he was all sweetness and light. Twelve months after high school, he died horribly in a car crash. After his death, and at the funeral, from what I heard, everybody was saying what a great guy he was, like he was some sort of hero. And I did not have one ounce of sympathy for his death. In fact, I was glad. And it still makes me smile today knowing all the sort of stuff that bastard missed out on by dying so young. This is why i take a dim view of people who treat me like crap for no apparent reason and yet brown nose others. Getting back to today. Just remember, chances are that there are people out there now who are not so sad that Jackson died. There are people who probably don't have such fond memories of him. If you like him and wish to ignore this, fair enough, worship him however you want, just don't expect everybody to tow the line. Taksraven

Michael Jackson dies but Keith Richards marches on. Guess that their is some justice in the world. Go Keef!!

Wow, we are in agreement on the "good riddance" attitude towards this. Where did you get the info on McCartney getting his songs back though? (I know Jacko owned a lot of the rights and that caused the falling out between them) Taksraven

good riddance, & the media reinvention of his image going on right now is disgusting.

Robotech and HG License Debates
taksraven replied to TheLoneWolf's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I think that writing this film would be the WORST possible job. Especially if HG has much input into what goes into the film. Then it has to get past the lawyers, etc. Do we know how much, if any input HG is going to have into this? I still wonder if the studio is aware of the complex legal situation surrounding this franchise. Probably not. It will probably blow up in their faces when the movie is a few months away from being released (remember what happened to Watchmen), if the project gets that far, which I doubt. Is anybody here familiar with the process that films go through when they are in scripting/development hell stages of production? How many people could have been assigned to this project already or would it just be the writer? When would the design work happen? Sometimes I think that, as Macross fans, maybe we should be making more internet "noise" in other places such as youtube, to promote Macross and the fact that RT is a fake. Taksraven -

Its easy, HG has always had the attitude that it knows better than everybody else. Working with the Japanese now would be conceding that they are a bunch of morons. Taksraven -
Gee, Helena Bonham Carter, who would have thought eh. Taksraven

An interesting article on Dark Horizons that is going well until it hits this sentence........ That global number is impressive as its double the highest gross of a previous Trek film (1996's "Star Trek: First Contact") but shows the franchise has yet to really breakthrough outside the US. Well if the ancient Trek franchise has not been a 'breakthrough' outside the US after so many decades, it ain't gonna happen now......... C'mon, this is the only SF franchise that can really rival Star Wars for popularity and we get a statement like this?? I love Garths website but i think that he needed to proofread himself there. link to the rest of the article, its a good read anyway...... http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/14440/-de...ek-not-globally Taksraven

Thanks for that, it was the exact quote that I was seeking. The reason I wanted it was so could check its authenticity, as I had my own doubts. When I was at uni, our lecturers also threw us this BS too.... http://www.snopes.com/language/document/1872rule.asp Taksraven -
Supervolt - Best animated superhero EVER! And thats due to one single comment. Taksraven

You are getting to the core of ageing and perception here. Are things as good as they always were, are things getting worse, or are we just perceiving things differently. Most people probably have an opinion on this sort of thing. Personally, I think that as most people get older they look back more and more at the past through rose coloured glasses. They forget the bad and unpleasant things, focus on the good things and all of a sudden the past miraculously turns into a golden age and you are sorry that you are not there anymore. Do you have any quotes from the ancient Greeks. I am not doubting you, but I remember when I was at Uni one of our lecturers showed us a quote by one of the famous Greeks bemoaning the fact that students were in decline and they were progressively getting dumber year by year. I would love to have that quote again, thats all. Taksraven -
My sentiments exactly. Third films in series are often problematic anyway.... Taksraven

I could have coped with it if it had been shorter, about 3-4 eps that were animated well. Too many of them were animated really badly, as we all know. Taksraven -
