I think that Metallica were really, really stupid to have gotten mixed up in the Napster affair the way they did and I have found it hard to forgive them for it. It really made them seem like they were personally going to war with their fans. Lars in particular came out of it very badly. The looked like greedy millionaires. And for those who are going to waltz up now and whine "But Taksraven, they were fighting piracy, they were trying to look after their own interests and protect their music. Are you saying that you support piracy", I say whatever. If the band was so determined to preserve their own interests they should have gone through the record company and get record company execs to fight the battle for them. They NEVER should have gotten publicly involved with it. I think that Metallica also lost quite a few fans in Australia in 1991 when Lars was a guest programmer on RAGE. (Local weekend late-night music show) He was programming songs by C&C Music Factory and that "Groove is in the Heart" crap, bragging how the band was listening to that sort of stuff and a lot of die-hard metal fans were extremely pissed off. Just out of interest, how bad is the comic book industry "death spiral"? I have no info on this topic and would like some. And what are they blaming for the decline, the internet? (it seems to get the blame for everything else) Taksraven

WTF!! A new Battlestar Galactica film is in the works??!&
taksraven replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yes, YES! That idea would work, even though they are likely to do it. I enjoyed reading the novelisation when I was young(er) and this mentioned things like the fact that the war with the Cylons had been going for about a thousand years and the Galactica had been at the forefront for most of that war. (I think) Just like I would have liked to see a Star Wars prequel set when both the Jedi AND the Sith were at their peak, set a looooonnngg time ago. It would have been great. Taksraven -

Yeah, If I remember rightly, (and I probably don't), when the remake BSG went into production, there were two other prospective BSG projects that were rejected. One was an effort from Singer and the other was a project by the man himself, Richard Hatch, to get the show going again. Taksraven -

Please no BSG ending spoilers yet, some of us have not had the chance to finish it yet. Be considerate. Taksraven -
This is really weird and I think it deserves its own thread. Read this. http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/08/13/...alactica-movie/ BSG is about to be reimagined/remade AGAIN! This time with Bryan Singer at the helm! And its going to be a big screen adventure. I can't say if I think this is good or bad, but it should at least be interesting. Taksraven

I think that the poor spelling is the best part. It means that I can't read his messages without getting a headache and as a result I don't read his messages. Waste of time anyway. Taksraven

Don't forget Brazil and Time Bandits, they were both great films. Taksraven -

Terry Gilliam has been one of the greatest things to come out of Flying Circus, that goes without saying. His films are always visually stunning but if there is any one criticism that could be levelled against him its that he often does not pay as much attention to the actual script. (The other criticism levelled against him would be about funding his films but since that is the concern of FRC studio exec's, who cares) Anyway, I imagine that a few of us will be going to see his latest film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, when its comes out so I thought I would start a thread on it. Anyway, trailer here. Taksraven

Atari's blunders over the years deserve their own dedicated thread. (No, we shouldn't start one) And its sad really that its all they are often remembered for, 'cause even though i am not a particular Atari fan, I will admit that they were very important industry pioneers. Worst Atari thing I ever endured was sitting through Atari Teenage Riot at the Big Day Out. God, they were SHITE!!! Taksraven

Well, ya gotta love sci-fi/comic/toy franchise fanboys. We always have this love-hate relationship with the things that we love, as well as the studio's and directors, writers, actors, each other, etc........ But as you know, it always leads to fantastic discussions. How boring would it be here if we all agreed with each other. Taksraven

Sat down the other night with nothing on and TVS (a community TV station here) started playing Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds Live at the Paradiso from '92. Great stuff. And the first song was The Mercy Seat. Fantastic. Scared the hell out of my daughter by knowing that song word for word. Taksraven

Always sad when that sort of thing happens, particulary with a show that you enjoy. I really liked the new Captain Scarlet that came out a few years ago and was most annoyed to discover that there would be no second season, the production office was closed and everybody had moved on. Taksraven
