I liked NGE all the way up to the TV ending. IMO, it's bad when at the end of a series, I'm thinking, "WT* mate?" Then there's the movies. The 1st one was really one of those dreadful recap TV episodes. Heck, no new animation needed really, just cut & paste the TV episodes. The 2nd sort of overwhelmed me at first, then after a while, I'm again thinking, "WHAT?!?" The only part I really cared about was Misato's death and Asuka's last fight against the Mass Prod. Evas. Rei, who I only cared for as the series went on, didn't factor for me, even though she was to play a big role in the end. Then there's Shinji. I understand the kid had some hellacious problems, but in the movies I really wanted to see someone choke him.

Videos: Japanese Sword vs 9mm then .50cal
Warmaker replied to Warmaker's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Still, it's a belt of .50 Cal ammunition. I knew the sword was going to break but it held up a long time. I was figuring it was going to break up at the 1st round that impacted. Heck, you could see some of the slow motion segments where the blade SPLITS some .50 cal rounds! Granted, the rounds hit at the blade, the strongest part. The .50 is a large, heavy round. 1st impact I thought would have done the blade in. Good work for the swordmaker. -
vs 9mm vs a belt of .50 cal Pretty cool! Mostly in Japanese though.

The new Jolly Rogers look--High-Vis Bug
Warmaker replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Modex & Squadron Numbers? I'm not certain, but I believe it's another thing to make quick ID'ing on the flightdeck much easier. Carrier flightdecks are cramped, dangerous, and there's lots of fast, moving parts. Not to mention there's a s**tload of USN/USMC squadrons that use variations of the Hornet. So, after you've been on the flightdeck a while, you can tell that that 512 belongs to this squadron, but 212 belongs to yours. That's the way I think of it out there. -
The new Jolly Rogers look--High-Vis Bug
Warmaker replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The Jolly Roger in the posted links, I take it that's the CO's bird? Will the other birds from the squadron have a similiar scheme, or will the rest be Lo-Vis? I recall seeing the Lo-Vis of some Super-F's for them, and they looked awful as hell... -
This really burned my @$$

Unforutnately, that'd be something like 75-95% of America, and probably 99% of the residents in Southern California. Well, if I go back to school in the future, at least I know what to study... looks like there's a huge demand for psychiatrists... Hey! Take it easy! Some of us in SoCal are just stationed here! -
Its been a while since I read up on this, but this discrepancy is likely yet another holdover from the old West End Games days. They (incorrectly) guessed at a lot of figures when they originally made the SW: RPG, and unfortunately Lucasfilm has been reluctant to retract and correct most of it. They only recently admitted that the Super Star Destroyer is larger then the venerable 8km figure. The Executor Class Super Star Destroyer is 17.6km long

TIE Fighter with the Defender of the Empire expansion pack still ranks as one of the best space games. Great action, immersion as a TIE Pilot, awesome story. Where else can you be Darth Vader's wingman and serving under then Vice Admiral Thrawn? That game was kicka** all the way through!

Frankly, I don't care of what other nations think about it. The US also uses sats to a good degree, and one would be stupid, naive, or both, to believe that no one else out there isn't trying to develop a way to nullify the US's use of them or other technological advantages. It's also not a simple thing of "We did it before the Commies did" either. It's a case of we're doing this before any potential enemies of the United States did, and we'll keep building and developing on these and other advantages. And not provoke other nations? What about nutjobs like the "Dear Leader" over in North Korea? There's numerous nutjobs out there that would love nothing better than being No.1.

Cute girls should be nice to their Photocopier.
Warmaker replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You Europeans get to be pretty creative with your commericals over there. In the good 'ol USA, show a commerical on TV like those linked in this thread, and you'll have a bunch of pink-panty-wearing-politically-correct wads keeping these commercials off the air By the way, the girls look nice in these commercials. Me luv Brunettes -
Please! Be careful with associating the term "extreme" or "xtreme" to anything that you care for! Things tend to suck "to the extreme" if you add the term to it! Please! Think of the kittens!

 I don't hold any grudge against the Yankees, heck, I'm not even a Red Sox fan, and I thought the whole thing was hilarious! Matter of fact, I haven't really watched baseball much ever since the strike in '94! I only started watching since I heard the Sox won at least one game against the Yanks Glad to say that I saw the whole drama!
-
I won't deny what the Yankees have done... IN THE PAST. But you can't deny this also, for it is FACT, for this RECENT SEASON: The Yankees had a huge, dominating series lead over the Red Sox. AND BLEW IT, allowing the Red Sox to be the 1st team to come from behind on such an overwhelming deficit, win the series, going on to the World Series, and sweeping the Cardinals. The Red Sox are the Champs this year. NOT THE YANKEES. That is fact.
-
The Yankees had such a commanding lead over the Red Sox and lost it! It is the equivalent of this: You have your opponent beaten on the ground, bloody, barely moving. You're applying pressure with your boot on their throats. They're choking... and somehow find a way to get your own a$$ whipped? The Yankees had their chance at glory and grew overconfident. I wouldn't have been surprised if Yankee fans in NY were thinking themselves as WS champs just before the Red Sox turned it round. I have no beef with St.Louis, but the Red Sox were clearly the better team. They stuck through it and won it all. Congrats Boston!

I miss Halloween. Haven't had fun with it since I left for the Marines. Actually, everyday at work seems like Halloween. It's just that everyone copycats my costume

Aircraft VS super thread!
Warmaker replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
One of my friends at work, a Sailor who's been an Electrician for USN EA-6Bs, is still a huge fan of those worn down workhorses. When I told him that the Super Hornet will be taking over the Prowlers' role, he seriously looked heartbroken. -
Survey: Ten Worst Comic Book/Superhero Movies
Warmaker replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I modified your list for myself for stuff that I've never seen or the few that I liked. Primarily, I wanted to make suer Superman I & II weren't on it! The first one was great when I saw it as a kid. Superman II had its moments, but my favorite was the moment of, "... son of Jor-El,kneel before Zod!" Also, the Ninja Turtle movies sucked to no end. Punisher movies are supposed to suck, from what I gather. Wasn't the Nick Fury flick with David Hasslehof? Also, was Batman Returns the one with Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman? I liked it just for that. I still like George Lucas, but Howard the Duck ranks as one of his worst creations. The Star Wars Christmas Special is #1, however as the most putrid of his creations. To top it off, it had the main actors in it also! -
Wes, I couldn't even get to the part where she started jumping. When the music and all went dead, I, the viewer felt embarassed... I cut the video off right there. Think about it, a viewer felt embarassed to see the entire clip I don't care much for her since I don't watch MTV nowadays (they don't show videos anymore), but this will leave a mark!

Oh how I hate the term of Boy Bands. Didn't my fellow Americans realize this warcrime that we repeat over and over? New Kids on the Block. All the subsequent ones are mere repeats. Same style, different clothes. Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it. All boy bands need to be put on a desert island, surrounded by Mako Sharks. We then need to Napalm the island 5x over. Wait a day, then drop cluster bombs. All Boy Bands must die EDIT TO ADD: I was able to see the top link from the original post. Strongbad would have 3 letters to say: OMG I only watched the 1st few seconds of it... that has to be the most embarassing moment one could have for a career... much less a young career!

"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of THEIR women!" Dude, that is engraved on the back of my iPod... seriously. That very short segment is one of my favorite Arnie moments... and I loved alot of his stuff!

And for AgentOne, the obligatory Conan quote: Mongol General: We have won again. That is good! But what is best in life? Mongol Warrior: The open steppe, a fleet horse, falcon on your wrist, wind in your hair! Mongol General: Wrong! Conan, what is best in life? Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women! Mongol General: That is good!

Well, if the current trend follows, I think we can probably apply "Skull Leader's rule to movie Sequels" #1: Regardless of bad a given sequel is "teh suck", they will always find a way to complile more suck on top of that. It's a neverending cycle. If you're from the USA, do you remember Beavis & Butthead? "Beavis, this sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before."

Though Gundam Wing was a fairly recent thing here in the USA, I had forgotten all about it. Thanks for ripping apart the scabs!

I did my part and did not see AvP also. Sooo... How bad can it get now?
