Yeah, I was going to get one together also here in CA but it's illegal

I always thought it resembled a big, modified P90 Submachinegun

Naval tradition, going back to God knows when, maintains that ships are referred to in a femenine form. Many names used by ships don't sound femenine: Warspite, Lexington, King George V, Essex, Bismarck, Illustrious, Relentless, Dreadnought, Gato, Midway, Nimitz, etc. Yet, when described, the ships are referred to as women with terms like she, her, etc. Sailors today still refer to ships as females: "She's a great ship!" "The ____? That ship's nasty as h*ll! Screw her!"

Wow. I mean... WOW

No One's Posted About The Thundercats Revamp Yet?

Ah, Macross 7... but let's leave it at that, shall we? -
Fear not! When I finish development of my "Super Laser" I will mount it aboard a space station, which will be called a "Death Star." I will then threaten to blow up the Earth for $1 million and turn the solar system into a true 8-Planet System.

Is the armor from here? Shepperton Design Studios (Pricey I'm guessing?) Or from the more underground Trooper Armor movement?

Where else can you fly as Darth Vader's wingman?

I bought System Shock 2 long ago. That game was truly immersive. "What was that?" or "I really hope my 7 remaining rounds is enough to deal with whatever's around that corner..." As for the old TIE Fighter game and its expansions... still is, IMO, the best Star Wars game ever.

As a former KC-130 Electrician, I look quite fondly at those videos! Last time I was in the Marine KC-130 community was 1999. I've worked on a Marine KC-130 with a modex of 798. I'm wondering if that's the bird from these videos. I've worked on a few of the Vietname era birds, one of which was shown in a documentary about the siege of Khe Sahn. The documentary showed the bird doing drops when the base was relying on airpower for supplies and protection.

Is it ever a good day to be a Marine...? A little friendly inter service ribbing 425829 (Marks name on "To Do List")

I was quite disappointed to see Phantasy Star I not appearing on that collection. PS was my favorite Sega game series.

From your picture, I have the Mace Windu FX, Sandtrooper, and the kneeling Scout Trooper. The Sandtrooper weathering was done quite horribly by Kotobukiya on all their variants of that figure. I was p*ssed when I received mine and had to conduct my own painting and weathering. The "weathering" that passed for those things comprised of someone dipping a piece of cotton into brown paint and dabbing the statues here and there. Morons... Anyways, after the Sandtrooper fiasco, all their subsequent Star Wars figures are done far, far better.

Well, remember the 1980's Van Halen video for "Dreams" on MTV? You know, back when they actually showed music videos? I got 2 videos I easily dug up on the 'net. The 1st is the "Dreams" video as was regularly shown on MTV, showcasing the Blue Angels flying the A-4 Skyhawk (one of my favorite aircraft). The 2nd is one that's much more recent and fanmade. This time, it's the Blue Angels flying the F/A-18 Hornet. No stages, no half-nekkid chicks prancing around (kind of bad not to have them, I guess), etc. Just aircraft and flying. Woah, great pic. What's those patches on the top? Literally patches? 421384 Are you talking about the Dark Grey rectangles? They're Non-Skid for personnel. Either glued on patches or an applied compound. As for the rest of the panels of the jet... touch up jobs done by the squadron Corrosion Control (C/C or 12C) personnel. On a deployment, especially on ship, there's no time for "Nice and Pretty Paintjobs." C/C does touch up jobs to prevent corrosion. Corrosion is a no joke issue on a carrier... proximity to the salty ocean water and all that! All Navy / Marine aircraft coming back from a carrier deployment don't look pretty.

Cool, that last launch of the Tomcat got a good treatment by flight deck personnel... lots of yellow shirts attending to the launch. And that's that, I guess.

So... is he a bloody pulp yet? -
Those "Strike Eagles" can't carry much ordnance, much less carry any at a long distance. (Sarcastic Joke, above, just to cover my rear)
-
Kind of funny, I do recall F-14's and F-15's being the few fighters that could fly such long distances into Afghanistan and conduct sorties there, all the way until an airfield was secured as a foothold by a MEU. But you do have to admit... the Navy kind of let the Tomcats shoot themselves in the foot. For most of its history, the Tomcats weren't even dreaming of moving mud, not until much later in its service life.

Hmm. One more whirl in the Real World for the Tomcat, eh?

Reagan I would probably count. His administration greatly strengthened the military in the 80s and regained prestige from the years after Vietnam.

I do have a soft spot for a USN submarine class name from WWII: Gato! As for the naming convention of USN ships, I prefer it the way it is. It keeps ours different from the British style, though they do have some cool names from history / existing ships.

From quick browsing, I haven't seen specifications yet. The upcoming CVN's are still going to be Nuclear. My guess is that the design is evolutionary in improvements over the Nimitz Class CVNs. FAS.org's CVX Section Globalsecurity.org's CVX Section While on the subject of Carriers, some humorous nicknames for recent boats that I've heard Sailors use: USS Kitty Hawk - S**tty Kitty USS Abraham Lincoln - Stinkin' Lincoln USS Constellation - The Connie (not exactly humorous, just a nickname) I had a chance to be aboard the Connie, Stennis, Lincoln, and Reagan, most of them for little CQ training dets. The Reagan still had that "New Ship" smell. The Lincoln also, since it just got off of major reworks / maintenance after the opening phases of OIF. I mean, in our enlisted berthing, there were brand new matresses and pillows, still wrapped in plastic bags, with fresh, clean, folded gov't linen, all of which were sitting nicely on each rack. When we entered our berthing, we just stood there in amazement Oh, BTW, yeah we're way off topic from Aircraft now. Can the OP change the thread title, if he's cool with it?

Ballistic Missile Submarines (SSBN's) are still named after states, i.e. Ohio Class. They were even using state names even when the Battleships were still operating. Attack Submarines are usually after cities, though what's funny is that Pres.Carter has a sub named after him. But at least he was a previous Submariner. Carriers are usually named after Presidents (Reagan, Roosevelt, etc) or major Navy figures (Nimitz). As for the SSBN's, they possess the firepower to annihalate an entire country by themselves.
