CG Star Wars movie in theatres this august

Is this where the "sky man" comments came in from the Padawan? -
I really liked the flashback / interrogation with Allison and who would eventually be Cameron. Seeing the unsheathed Terminator walking around her was a nice clue with what was going to happen with her. It was pleasing to see where she got her "look" / "model" from, how Cameron got the information to impersonate Allison. The final pleasing moment was when the real one saw her replacement Poor girl though... she was focked. No if's, and's, or but's about it, and no way of escaping it.

It's like my friend asked why the US Navy wouldn't simply have "navalized" F-16's, F-15's, or the new F-22. Those jets would break like flimsy twigs on their first launch and recovery Those airframes, especially towards the landing gear, have to built tough for the rigors of carrier ops. You take a look at the landing gear of an F-15, F-16 and compare them to an F-14, F/A-18, there's a huge difference in sturdiness. The pure land based ones of the -15 and -16 have pencil thin landing gear. Simply throwing stronger gear wouldn't do it.

How about Daikatana? -
I've been waiting since 1999 for Lucasarts to get someone to bring back the X-Wing series. But ever since Phantom Menace came out, they just didn't want to do any games set in the Original Trilogy. Only recently did they do so. In '99, they also introduced the Rogue Squadron series of games, but compared to the X-Wing series, it felt like I was being held back and flying a rail shooter. SWBF2 just isn't the same. Craft variety isn't there, no system adjustments, overly simplistic. I never was looking for a hardcore sim, but the X-Wing series gave alot of space flying options that later SW fighter games just can't do.

You know, that reminds me. After viewing the Star Wars movies repeatedly, playing the games, especially the X-Wing series, I just now realize how friggin' huge the standard TIE Fighter is. Unshielded, huge target from the sides... no wonder everyone blows the T/F away like they were eating popcorn

The thing is this: We're talking about Bandai here, who's the one working on this line of toys. Bandai, AFAIK, was the only company that released a Macross II Valk kit.

There's no way they'd do a Duke Nukem movie and be faithful to the character. He's so politically incorrect for today's standards -
Regular 80's movies you think other people have forgotten

Nice little link of 80's action goodness They even listed Fred Dryer's "Death Before Dishonor" and the various Charles Bronson "Deathwish" flicks for some great large calibre vigilantism! -

"Conan, what is best in life?" "To crush your enemies, see them driven before, and hear the lamentation of their women." "That is good... that is good!" Prayer to Crom: "Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no time for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Crom... so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to hell with you!" "Let him contemplate on the Tree of Woe." -

Ah, Megaforce, you have interesting tastes! Red Dawn I don't think was politically incorrect. The Cold War was still in full swing and war with the Soviets was always a concern in the back of everyone's mind. The movie was playing into that fear, even if WWIII didn't go nuke right off the bat. Some 80s stuff that's forgotten by now but I still like: Conan The Barbarian - I believe that this was Schwarzenneger's first recognizeable break? I was in love with this movie when I saw it as a kid. I bought the DVD with a few extra scenes in it a while back. A while back when I was looking at the Age of Conan game at Best Buy, one of the teenaged girls working there was asking what the deal was with that game since all the guys were snatching it up. I just told her it was some online game set in a the world where Arnold Schwarzenneger's Conan character was set in. "Conan?" "Yeah, Conan the Barbarian?" "....." "It was one of Arnie's early movies." "I don't remember that." It was then that I realized how young she was and how old I was. She was probably born in the mid or late 90's, far later than when movies like Conan were constantly being showed on Cable Anyways, I loved this movie and I still do. Holds up well as an action flick with some great music. Red Dawn - Another forgotten movie by now. I always enjoyed viewing this flick. WOLVERINES!!! Beastmaster - Well, yeah. Like alot of kids back then, I enjoyed this movie alot. Swords, animal attacks, gory deaths. What more can you ask for? A good example of 80s family entertainment. Invasion USA - A Chuck Norris action flick. As a kid, I never understood the whole story, just as long as Chuck Norris kicks some tail in for the USA. Road Warrior - The role I always think of when Mel Gibson's name comes to mind, and it seems alot of people have forgotten this character. AWESOME setting, car wrecks all over the place, mad men with mohawks, guns, crossbows, flamethrowers, a helicopter-thingie, Humongous, a loyal dog, and pure 'Grade A' A**-Kicking all over the wastelands. Very little humor, except for blasting someone in the face with a shotgun. Action flicks don't get much better than this classic. -
I've been in Korea in winter. It gets d**n cold enough there

If you've seen Navy / Marine Corps aircraft after a deployment / cruise on an aircraft carrier for 7+ months, they look just like that Except I don't see a greasy handprint or two on the -1J here.

Ah, the original Ghostbusters movie. Lots of great little lines and moments there. Bill Murray still doing comedy to boot!

Call Of Duty 4 - Would be a cool action flick. System Shock - I never played SS1, but I did have SS2 and it had a fabulous story, twisted and derelict ship in space, very tense atmosphere, and very little ammunition TIE Fighter - The game and its expansions did have a great Star Wars storyline but from an Imperial perspective. It'd be interesting to see X-Wings in crosshairs though. The whole thing would be quite different from all Star Wars movies shown -
Heh. I'm a big Macross fan, but not I'm never forking out that kind of money

The All Things Video Games Thread!
Warmaker replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
What's going to be funny is that gaming sites / mags will review the game very highly. Gamespy already gave it 4/5. /sigh Back to shooting people and collecting dog tags in BF2142 for me. -
No... Breetai ruled! Without him, there would have been no valk-a**-kicking, valk-head-smashing, and valk-chest-fatality going on. Pay your respects to where respect's due!

Macross 7: First time to view the series

Don't you love it when you see it coming a mile away? Dangard, thank you for finding this. My thoughts on M7 are pretty much like this and -
Shouldn't a Kakizaki -1A (DYRL or SDF:M) just stand there and be blown or burned up? The custom -1J in this thread looks great. 2 things would have set it supremely ahead: 1) TV style hands 2) Using regular 3 missile clusters instead of the DYRL missile pods. They didn't use those pods in SDF:M Ok, I'm done nitpicking

1/100 scale is pretty dang small for my tastes. But it's interesting though that Bandai is resuming support for Macross II. I hope to see a new VF-2SS with SAP from that. Most of the items on the list doesn't interest me. Excluding the Hasegawa 1/72 model kits... For the VF-1, I have the Yammie 1/48's and a few old 1/60's still. I have Yamato's Mac+ lineup. As far as M.Frontier valks go, I'm more interested in larger scale models and toys. I *might* be interested in a VF-19, but it depends on the scheme.
