My Favorite Games! In no particular order: * Phantasy Star 1, 2, and 4 (SMS + Genesis) - Absolutely loved PS1 on my Sega Master System. Wasn't too fond of PS3 since it felt like it had very little to do with previous PS titles. But it had awesome character portraits though * Street Fighter Series (Multi platform) - Should really be the entire series, but SF2 is what got me started. Arcade standups, SNES, PS1, etc. Lots of platforms I've played SF games on. Even on PC thanks to SF4. I cranked in serious time on the SF Alpha series. * TIE Fighter (PC) - My favorite Star Wars game, period. Great, original story from a fresh perspective. * European Air War (PC) - IMO, the best WWII prop sim, especially modified. Choose different air forces to play. Gain rank, even become the Commanding Officer of a squadron. You could manage squadron aircrew, loadouts, crew rest, etc. * Falcon 4.0 (PC) - Best jet sim I've ever played. Still loved by the sim community, and this game came out in 1998 I believe. Dynamic Campaign System also. A true challenge was playing as a Luftwaffe pilot late in the war. * Herzog Zwei (Genesis) - One of my early Genesis titles, but the most played of all my titles on that platform. I played it alot. My friends loved it. Best match I had was against a buddy for a 3 hour long match which I barely lost. To make it even better, my Dad religiously played this game also. * Final Fantasy Tactics (PS) - A golden Tactical RPG title. Still the standard that the genre is measured to, IIRC. * Shogun Total War (PC) - Creative Assembly's first big hit. RTS battlefield + Turn based campaign view. "Dismounting" Takeda cavalry with deadly musket volley fire never got old. * Rome Total War (PC) - Best Total War game CA has done (still). Huge advance from Shogun's game engine. * Fallout Series (PC) - Not to include FO Tactics. Post Apocalyptic setting? Check. Dark humor? Check. Style? Check. Gore and Violence? By the dumptruck loads. Distribute Wasteland Justice in a leather jacket, shotgun, and having a trusty dog, ala Road Warrior? CHECK! Just too bad FO3 didn't have bullet riddled, death dances. * X-Com (PC) - The epitome of squad based tactical games, which still sets the standard. Not bad for a 15+ year old game. * Shining Force (Genesis) - Great RPG that I first tried as a borrowed title from a buddy of mine. * Romance of the Three Kingdoms series(Multi platform) - Started with RotTK2 on my friend's SNES. I've been a longtime fan of the series. Conquering ancient china has never gotten old. I just wish Koei gave Nobunaga's Ambition the same treatment here on this side of the Pacific. * Combat Mission Series (PC) - "WEGO" style of turn based play. Sophisticated ballistics + armor modelling. Most importantly, your digital soldiers have morale. Orders may not be followed since your troops may not like having bullets, artillery, and / or tank rounds coming their way. Always had fun playing as Late War German forces: Badly outnumbered, poorly supplied, having command of depleted formations (company really being in platoon strength), yet still trying to make things successful. Seeing my veteran Tiger tank crew blow the turret off of a Soviet T-34 at 1km never gets old. * Rainbow 6: Rogue Spear (PC) - Great, unforgiving FPS. Before the company raped the franchise with "Lockdown." * Baldur's Gate series (PC) - This is the game series that made Bioware what it is today. Their first big "hits."... "Go for the eyes, Boo! GO FOR THE EYES!!!" * Civilization 4 (PC) - Just 1 more turn...

Not an EVE player myself, but it's good to see a non-generic MMO with some depth get good recognition.

That's all good, but I'm still content with this old bit of news regarding TOS uniforms. Yay! TOS era ROCKS!

Last night I got to Lieutenant / Lv6, Blood of the Warrior. All the time I had left before having to go to sleep was rolling a Klingon. Wanted to play a bit more on last day of Beta but work wasn't having it. For Live, I want a Constitution-class Refit Cruiser for my goodie-two-shoes-Federation toon. For my Klingon, a BOP with Battle Cloak will do.

Should be easy to find me. Just look for the Miranda class ship blowing up. It's likely to be me.

Oh wow, the code worked I guess if there's one good thing about having a Fed toon in that uniform is to go around ranting about those "Klingon bastards!"

*sigh* Took the plunge to try a bit of the Open Beta before it ends. Firstly, I'm just happy playing an MMO that is actually sci-fi. My newb toon is named "Ambrose" and my starting ship is a Miranda class, USS Relentless. I only now have a complete trio for Bridge Officers (Tactical, Engineering, Science). Doing a couple missions here and there, still getting used to it. Not fun having a Negvhar jump me when focused on something else A couple wishes: * I wish I could jump straight away to a Klingon character, not having to go through a Federation career path of X amount of levels before being able to make one. * Glancing around at all the preorder exclusives, they have TOS, TNG, DS9 uniforms covered. But they left out the TMP uniforms that actually looked like... naval uniforms. My computer is no longer cutting edge, but it still runs the game pretty nicely.

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
Warmaker replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
McG still has a chance on turning this around, but... People are saying they're going back to time travelling missions, which I really hope they don't do. The Terminator franchise FINALLY gets to the Future War, and they're going to leave it before giving it a proper treatment? And I'm glad I didn't bite for Machinima Still got my Blu-Rays for Terminator 1 & 2 to soldier on. -
FURIOUS OVER NEW CONAN (Conan the Barbarian remake)
Warmaker replied to Agent ONE's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Maybe... maybe he'll surprisingly work out good. Kind of like Michael Keaton was announced as being Batman back in the day? -
The Marine Corps isn't going for ANY Super Hornet variants at all. Not a single whisper of interest came from our community (I work as a Hornet maintainer in the Corps) that I heard about when they were being rolled out. But I'm curious to see what the service intends to replace the aged EA-6B's with since they're not going for SHornets.

If all I want is a good story onscreen, I have a bunch of good movies on DVD & Blu-Ray.

I've never done EVE but I've played Sandbox MMOs in the past. This is exactly why I love and miss Sandbox MMOs. They are an extremely rare breed ever since WoW's success.

I heard about that complaint about FFXIII. It being "about as linear as a piece of string." I would have thought that by this day and age in video game development, especially as something as prolific as FF, would be better than that. Might as well turn FF series into a freedom-less rail shooter.

As I understand it, you can only play as a Klingon after being hippy Federation after so many levels? Dang, I would like to jump straight away as a rampaging, violent Klingon skipper in one of the Bird of Prey type of ships Klingon RP-PVP guilds should be... interesting

I've been following this MMO's development off and on. A bit wary at the moment considering the game's previous development troubles (or was it publishing?). STO is getting alot of attention on gaming sites these days and several different in-store preorder editions to add to the chaos. Holding back until getting some of reviews (esp. player ones). I've been burned by 2 of the last big name MMOs that came out in the last couple years: Age of Conan and Warhammer Online. I was there at the beginning for both and was not too happy after peeling back the onion more. As an MMO player, I've got more leanings towards PvE and like to jump into PvP every now and then. Not too keen on the idea of Open PvP, esp. the type that involves players looting your junk.

The All Things Video Games Thread!
Warmaker replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I got X-Com Apocalypse running via Steam. Before, I've NEVER been able to get my original Apocalypse to run on my XP and later rigs. I know the original X-Com UFO Def. works fine in Vista. -

Warmaker replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
X-Com? I am otw! I loved this franchise (most of it). Very few strategy games, especially squad based ones, are as good as X-Com. And that game is about 15 years old. I wonder if it works on Vista. Will see when I get back. -

Dorkiest Mechs of 3025 (BattleTech)
Warmaker replied to treatment's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ah, oh so true for anyone that's ever played PnP or Tabletop games before. If it looks like you're totally screwed, just roll the dice and pray. I always tended to have alot of luck when when things are at their worst in those games. My characters tended to live long, violent lives. -

The more I look at the AT-ST, the more I'm impressed considering it's a toy. Nice work they did as far as appearance and costs.
