No where in the episode does anyone say to cancel a transformation, I looked through when the order to use nukes was permitted and when they actually nuked all the Vajra ships but they don't give mention to the Battle 25 transforming at all.

Someone once suggested Light Aircraft Industries which sounded good. However considering they also make fold boosters and Dimension eaters that name seems unfitting now.

Perhaps as someone once suggested (I forget who) a Macross Royale with Cheese. Here is a possibilities, what we have seen of Macross Galaxy may in fact be the carrier. Who knows.

*claps* Good phrasing. Being a huge transformers fan I know what you mean. I kind of see the Unicron Trilogy as a black mark on TF history and would rather forget it. Some like it though, strange. Transformers was hurt due to puting out series all the time that had lackluster plotlines just so there could be a medium to sell the toys. G1 may have not been written any better at first but you are correct everything that expanded upon it made it better and Beast Wars is still my favorite TF series because its storytelling is great. The new show, Animated, is doing very well and is actually good because they have decided to put out a good show with good story telling and it is paying off. As for Macross it is probably better that there isn't always a Macross something on the air, makes us appriciate it more when we actually have something going on.

To add to that, we know now that Frontier's resources are being stretched and . So I don't know if folding somewhere else is a good idea now as it might eat up energy they need to conserve.

I too was making a joke out of it so there is no problem. Even sometimes I wonder about some of the character theories I see, but then I think about some type of shiny aerospace craft (mech or not) doing something cool and I get over it.

I find this idea of segregation in Macross World to be distasteful. I am an engineer (ok student, but it is close enough) and I like talking about mechanical stuff but I like talking about character things as well. Just because we don't have the same idea on our minds at all times does not make us that different, perhaps it makes us the same...

When did Sheryl become a Valkyrie. We all know Ranka is part Fast Pack but that would be quite fascinating.

I'm not commenting on Gallia 4 anymore, this looks like one that could go on until next Thursday when the new episode will make us forget it. As for time in learning to fly a Valk. Shin definitely had it down by episode 5 of Zero, at least he was doing pretty decently but before that he was shaky. Hikaru master the VF-1 within 2 months because besides his little jaunt in the VF-1D he never touched one until episode 6. That episode had his first sortie but also they said it was 2 months into their trip which is why they were already at Saturn. The Macross's voyage home was really glossed over in the 10 episodes it happened in considering it was a years time.

It is called plot shield. However I see what you mean, why can't the characters with plot shield fly the same as the CF pilots. The main purpose story wise is it is easier to identify the main heroes in an action scene if their plane is different than the rest. It isn't necessarily saying that the 19 or the 17 is better than the 11.... even though by the numbers they are because they were designed to replace the 11.

Eh, of course it isn't hard sci-fi. That is why such a simple explanation as freezing can work, even if it really wouldn't make sense scientifically. In the end it really doesn't matter. The animators chose not to show mantel spewing out from it or they did decide the planet does not have the same core composition. In this case Kawamori may not even know as he was probably more interested in how the 25 looked with the half-planet backdrop behind it.

I think it just froze still.. there is a lot of heat interally and a big hole opens up and the heat goes out of the hole. Heat likes to travel where it isn't, it moves to where there is less pressure so I think in the few minutes after that part of the planet was cut off a lot of heat escape into space causing the inner liquids to freeze and solidify.

It most likely did have not completely solid core, but when half of the planet is taken away that core is exposed to the deep cold of space. It most likely froze. It is the heat and pressure of the planet's crust that keeps all that so hot. When lava makes its way to the top it eventually solidifies because of cooling. Of course they did say while Gallia 4 has a breathable atmosphere they also said it wasn't inhabitable. Also its rotation is fixed as stated in ep.11 so with no rotation it may very well not have a liquid core. However I would assume it did since it had a stable enough magnetic field to keep the star from roasting the atmosphere off.

Agreed, Ozma's is my favorite and the one you are more likely to see get an armored pack. I'd bet that they make and armored pack for Ozma and a Super for Alto at start and see where it goes from there on whether to do the same for the others. However I can live with that even though I want both packs for Ozma.

That second one is most likely it, we want different angles of missile firings so the hatches need to alternate somehow. That can only be anime magic though unless we really want to presume they designed them different for whatever reason. You could say I guess that Ozma's is an older pack and Alto's was made more recently but we don't know that. Gilliam could have used that armor pack before but it seems clearance is rarely granted for more than one pilot to use those packs.

Well I feel he didn't need to get rid of the boosters which provided extra thrust. Yes he exhausted the outboard missile launchers but that is no reason to decrease your possible top acceleration. Unless it was unsaid that the boosters were out of their on board propellant and had nothing left for the nuclear engines to heat then it would be a good idea to jettison. However they didn't imply that so I take points off for randomly jettisoning booster parts (Ozma did that as well in ep.3 when he used super parts but I believe his boosters were damaged then because it was after he was hit). The rest of what he did was economical and ok in my book though.

The upshot is if you start watching now you can watch exactly half the series straight through getting part of what you want and then continue to enjoy it the real way like the rest of us from there.

I don't know if the spoiler tag is necessary unless your doing it on purpose for drama. This is a theory thread. Thing is we know Guld always held strong feelings for Myung even after the 'incident' and especially because he didn't remember what really happened. Of course it is possible he was able to have other relationships after the initial ordeal and just seeing Myung again in Plus brought old feelings back out. Besides that though the timing doesn't seem to add up, Isamu and Guld only seemed in their early 30's at most in Plus which would put them in diapers after M0, let alone the fact no human and Zentradi had crossbred before Max and Millia in SDF Macross so Guld must be younger in fact. Meaning either Mao is a lot older than Guld when they met long after Zero or it wasn't him. Of course I can see that this theory is most likely meant to be droll but I just had to chime in on it.

While Sheryl with her last name makes sense to be a Nome descendant I don't think Ranka necessarily has to be one as well. The Dr. Mao thing doesn't mean she had to have been her mother or grandmother, she could have been the doctor for Ranka's family on the Research Fleet (of course we know Ranka's mother is named Ranshe Mei but you know my point). Even then we don't know what kind of doctor Mao was, she may have not even have been a medical doctor at all. I can believe it if the relation does end up as such but I don't want to jump the gun and say Sheryl and Ranka are related just yet.

Like most people I say if they planned to do another season then I'm all for it. I think a second season shouldn't be just a continuation of all the stuff from the first though. Like a new enemy entirely and a different situation but our same SMS people on Frontier. Kind of how Full Metal Panic did it with their 2nd season (or 3rd if you go chronologically and include Fumoffu as the 2nd) where it was different stuff but still linked somewhat in the end. However if not planned then they should leave it alone but that doesn't mean it can get the same treatment as Mac7 with an OVA and/or a Movie.
