That is indeed Do you Remember Love?. I forget where I got the song, but it was probably just the OST for DYRL, I'm sure there is one. It starts out the same as it did in the movie.

Technological comparison between Macross and other Sci-fi
Master Dex replied to RedWolf's topic in Movies and TV Series
I've noted the similarity between BSGs FTL technology and Macross fold technology before. I believe since in BSG they seem to have to do multiple jumps just to get anywhere that they don't have the power requirements or even possibly the knowledge of folding farther away with one 'jump.' Both types of FTL are some fashion of folding space, which is what is done by wormholes but in an artificial manner in this case. This is all despite the compendium's explanation of Macross fold technology which I don't tend to go by as much especially when Frontier's redesigned fold aesthetic makes my idea make more sense (I once gave my theory on it back then so I won't describe it here unless someone asks). On that note though by the compendium's definition it sounds a lot more like BSGs FTL drives anyway, but I digress. My point is it seems in Macross the fold system is far more efficient that in BSG but they are different universes so it really is just an interesting similarity. -
It was just an early model it seems. By all the actions it made in the video it seems it was recolored and replaced with what eventually became Ozma's VF-25S with armor pack in episode 1 as the two make almost identical movements.

That first request is part of my avatar, heheh. However it is a cool scene.

Good thing I have little reverence to anthropomorphic hybrids of felines and sapient females. -

Oh yeah completely. I was giving a rather simplistic explanation there without going into details. I think Macross actually does a pretty good job in what it does. The very fact that there is RCS thrusters and verniers shows they aren't ignoring space physics, I never meant to insinuate they were. My point simply meant that one might come up with a misconception from Macross of true space flight because it isn't shown like others. The vehicles in Macross, especially the Valkyries, are so designed that they can move in space in such a unique way that because of the variable nature ends up looking very similar to how it flies in an atmosphere. Although the way they move in each environment is different it is just that the way it is done makes them seem the same and that actually makes the entire system quite efficient. My post actually did give some credence to the fact that the Valks transformation capability does allow it to do things differently than the way other ships move I just didn't elaborate it that well. Of course instead of a 180 a valk can transform to gerwalk and shove the legs forward to reverse its momentum and then use verniers or even switch to battroid and use the inertia of the arms and legs to spin around and start off in another direction, something that is done often actually in the shows. Agreed that is does do this all better than both Star Wars and Star Trek. I mentioned before Star Wars suffers from the effect that all the ships fly like they would in an atmosphere. Star Trek often over emphasizes the vague similarity of space to an ocean which has never been a good comparison (this is something I hope to see improved in the 2009 Star Trek movie since it is under completely different management from the kind of the past). -

That is most likely some pre-production line art Kawamori drew when he was still working out what the VF-25 would actually look like and the how the transformable armor pack would work. -

Technically the VF-22 could carry two reaction warheads in it's internal compartments so that has already been done. -

Technological comparison between Macross and other Sci-fi
Master Dex replied to RedWolf's topic in Movies and TV Series
I have to say I pretty much agree with everything Mr March just said. On a note about Vipers being able to do a 180 in .38 seconds. Valkyries can easily do that. With no atmosphere in space there is no need and in fact it is harder to fly like planes do in an atmosphere. Like someone said the only reason they appear to fly in space like they do in atmospheres (much like how Star Wars shows fighters flying as well) is most likely for artistic effect as I would think Kawamori understands the flight physics of space. He probably just wants it too look cool. Having said that though I think how they tuned the flight physics in BSG re-imagined to be realistic in how things would actually move in space is a great thing and I really love it. Babylon 5 also did realistic space flight I believe. If Valks were to be more consistently shown to fly like this then the additions of gerwalk and battroid mode actually make it even more controlled as the engines can be practically pointed anywhere the legs can go so momentum control would be even easier for Valks than Vipers much like RedWolf originally said, the Valk benefits most from its variable nature. Also in BSG, something overlooked, this isn't a tech comparison really just a science footnote but BSG accurately portrays space with little to no sound. There is of course no sound in space because of the absence of atmosphere. A lot of Sci-fi shows just depict natural sound in space because it would be boring to look at otherwise, but BSG does a little better. They don't do it perfect but most of the sound you hear in space on the show is radio chatter and background music which is synced so well with the action. It isn't perfect of course, you hear the engines whirring and the gunfire and some explosions but I like how they seem to be trying to portray space more accurately. -

I made that poster once for the ep.14 thread but it went largely unnoticed. I still have the file if Mr. March wants it for his site. I'm having trouble uploading files lately but I think it won't be too much of a problem. -

Just watched the raw. Good thing I always wait for the HD raws anyway to watch the show as I wouldn't have seen it all this time, lol. I like the episode. Character-centric but it was ok. Development for all the people was good and a lot of setup for next week. Overall, decent episode. Next Deculture is going to be pretty action packed I bet(hope). -
It will never be the final (despite that it was the model) even when the final is out in stores it won't be done then. There will always be something someone doesn't like. For that reason though, I like it even more. Even though that is the model there, that fighter mode looks really nice.

March do we have to have a talk about all those various beverages of which you have been drinking far too much? None the less, the man is good with gifs.

Oh don't be that way. Seriously, you walked right into that one. Total Win. -
I thought you played Aegis Focker in both VF-X games but in VF-X2 you were newly joined to the VF-X Ravens which would indicate to me he was with someone else in VF-X. I'm not 100% sure you are playing as Aegis Focker in VF-X though as I didn't play that, I just played VF-X2 and you are definitely Aegis there.

Which singer and song is appropriate for first impression?
Master Dex replied to RedWolf's topic in Movies and TV Series
I read the prologue, very interested and good start. Can't wait to see more. When Totsugeki Love Heart appeared in text there I couldn't resist playing it on my speaker system while reading that, it works so well. I can see thing being very interesting. -

Valkyrie did appear in the show, even though it was Adama's flashback. However making it slightly AU is probably a good idea. Valkyrie could have been near Galactica when the attack originally happened and they could have just not lost the Pegasus. I'm like you, I love ships of many types and I almost cried when the Pegasus was destroyed in the 3rd season like that because I liked her a whole lot more than the Galactica truthfully. Although she took out 2 or 3 basestars as she died so it definitely wasn't a pushover, she died well. MisaForKlan It is called re imagined for a reason. However I actually like the classic Cylons and how they speak. You know there are robotic Cylons in the new show right? You see the human ones more but the centurions are still there. Granted they look different and don't speak (saddening) but they are there. Actually if you watch any of the new BSG then you should watch the Razor TV movie, it isn't difficult to watch without having seen much else of the show, but the most important part is it actually has classic Cylons in it (beautifully rendered in CG) and in one scene they do speak. I have to say when they spoke in that scene I cheered because ever since the new show started I was waiting for a metal Cylon to speak like they once did. -
Like I said in the art thread, Klan Klang sounds like Klan if she were a Klingon. I agree with MisaForever on this one, the name is Klan and that is how it is.

Worst Manager in Macross History
Master Dex replied to Isamu Starkiller's topic in Movies and TV Series
Kaifunn annoys me to no end. Marge was somewhat evil but I think even he wasn't quite sure of the implications of his actions. I haven't seen M7 so I can't comment on Akiko. I think Elmo was actually pretty damn good, he just got thrown out to the curb, and no even by Ranka who wanted to go back to him, it was Grace. And then there is Grace herself, she is a bitch. However she seems to do a decent job as a manager, horrible person as in she is a bitch, however she seemed to do good for Sheryl and Ranka's careers even though she just ended Sheryl's. So all in all I voted for Kaifun, who I just can't stand. He is a bad person and manager. Grace is just a bad person, her managing skills seem to be well enough.
