Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.3
Master Dex replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I think the super packs make it look better truthfully. I'm already set though to want the Michael VF-25G with super packs in March though. -
It is no pain March, that is something admirable about your work in fact. If I want small pictures of VFs I can google search and find plenty. However nice big pictures with details and information to go along with them, your site is always the one to which I've turned.
-
Truthfully it sounds like something I could easily see Mr March trying to add to his site for some reason . However this forum would probably make a good place for that if it was created as some fan collaboration project.
-
Nothing more exciting than a probability scenario. Shower us in the greatness of your website's collected wisdom Mr. March. I'm not quite sure why I felt like saying something so strange like that... but in truth probability scenarios would be kind of cool.

I have unofficially finished my VF-25S now, meaning I have completely build and panel lined it but I have not done stickers yet. If anyone is curious because I asked a lot I did lining with a gundam marker, found it to be much easier than it seemed at first and I really like the results. In my opinion the lines are very nice and not too obvious at all. I am very impressed with the sturdiness it has for a variable kit but it does seem a bit loose in some areas. I have only had it in fighter mode so far and I am having the trouble keeping the shield in place sometimes, and the wing root pieces next to the intake seem to want to move from their current position a lot but overall they stay there very well (I don't have the Alto kit so I don't know how much better the wing roots are here than that, but I hear they are better). Like I said I have not transformed it yet, I plan to so most of the stickering in fighter mode (I already stickered the wings while assembling though because of the whole wing glove thing) until I get to the part where the only stickers left are the ones that require it to be in battroid or gerwalk to apply. I have to saw that stickers looks like it will be very challenging since a lot of them are really small. Also one question about setting up landing gear. For the back landing gear you have to remove the panels on the legs in order to put in the gear (which I find kind of annoying, I don't see why an opening panel like that on the cockpit for the front gear couldn't be done) but I cannot get them off, is there a trick or do I just have to keep picking at those pieces to get them off? Also the instructions have you attacking the middle piece under the gunpod while it is displayed with landing gear, is this necessary and why is it there?

Semantics... I have used both Michael and Michel before, so it matters not. -

Uh... yes. Not sure what you are implying there. If it is the name spelling I use different ones every time because he has like 3 different spellings of his name and two different pronunciations in the show. -
Ok, last question I will ask about panel lining.. I think I am going to try the wash method another time and go with markers now, I can deal with that and I'm not really too picky about line thickness. Now someone before once said that find tip gray like GM02 would work find for the Ozma kit despite this valks gray color, is that best or should I just go with GM01 black I was thinking about getting both but in the interest of saving money I was thinking then just to get an idea of which would most likely be better and only get the one. I have a place to buy from so I don't need links, just an idea for which would work better.

It had been mentioned that Mikhail's 25G has specialized optical equipment in the head unit which allows for greater accuracy with the rifle. As said before, nothing stops Alto from firing the gun, but Mikhail (or Klan in the case of that episode) might have been able to do it better. However as Grace in ep. 25 was basically a non-moving target it is not like it would be hard for Alto to miss. -
Oh, well I am most certainly not painting. All I want is to panel line and then apply stickers (not decals, that just seems like more of a chore, but the stickers I hear are quite good anyway). So if that is all then I do not need to worry about clear coating, ok that helps a lot. Thank you for clarifying that.

Ok, another question here... I just can't find anything on this by searching. I got the idea on the panel lining now, but what I need to know more about is this clear coating stuff. I search the names people say but I can't find anything that helps me understand it better nor where I can get this stuff. I am really a novice at this stuff so I can use any help I get. Also, I know that if I use the wash method I should do this clear coat first, but should I do that at all if I use a marker?

I believe Max only outranks Hikaru because Hikaru was gone for a long time after the fold accident that stranded Misa and Hikaru on Earth. Thus Max was made leader of Skull Squadron in his place. It is likely that Hikaru still outranked him beforehand, but in itself because Roy died just before Hikaru and Misa disappeared Hikaru didn't become leader of skull until Max disappeared into the Meltran ship. In a way a lot of things happened backwards.

Well I don't want to mess up this VF-25 because I do not plan on buying a second, I don't do the whole duplicate thing. So I don't want to do something I could horribly mess up even if it is reversible. It just seems like there is always another step that I am just suddenly learning about, I just want to know what all I am supposed to do if I use this method of panel lining because otherwise I'll skip some step and it won't work out. I don't want to spend money on buying a whole new kit. I am not even sure where to get all this stuff so I may just not bother (I am sure I could Google it all and find it for sale somewhere but at this point it is seems like more of a chore to track it all down).
-
Ok, so the clear coat stuff is a spray then? If so then is it better to spray it over the individual pieces (as in the ones getting panel lined at least) and then panel line the individual pieces, or do you do like the guy in the video and have the model in only a few pieces (which is easily done seeing how the VF-25 is built in the instructions). It seems like the more I hear about it, this method of panel lining does seem easier but at the same time the more I hear about it there is continually something extra, like now there is this clear coat thing before the lining.... do you have to do something extra after finishing the panel lines too?
-
That second link didn't seem to lead anywhere but that first one was very helpful. I never really understood the other panel lining method before so it was nice to see a video of it. Only question I have is he mentions several times that wash method works better after you have clear coated it... I have heard this said many times but what exactly does it mean and how is that one done? (I figure I'll get better answers from the people here than google...)
-
Like I said I'm not hardcore or experiences enough to do that. I have built many snap models before, but rarely do I sticker (but I will definitely do so for this) and I have never panel lined. Using a marker sounds easier than this other method beside the fact I have no idea how to do that other method. Compared to most model builders I suppose I am a novice despite having built a lot of snap fit models before.
-
Then it sounds even more so than a PSP could be useful to me. Perhaps I will look out for an older cheaper model, perhaps used, doesn't bother me. I have no reason to go with the latest stuff.

I just got my VF-25S but I am not building it until I go home after the end of my semester (which is later next week so I don't have to wait too long). I was planning to get this gundam marker from HLJ for panel lining as it was recommended: http://www.hlj.com/product/GNZGM02 , but as you can see it is now on back order, but this: http://www.hlj.com/product/GNZGM21 looks very close to it and I might get this instead. What I want to ask if anyone knows, is whether or not there is a difference between the two and if so which would be better for the Ozma kit? I plan to panel line and use stickers, as have no experience with decals and I don't want to mess anything up on this kit. I want to panel line the parts before building but is it better to panel line on the sprue or off? I don't want to mix up the parts and not know which is which when building. Also I know the stickers should be done after building but I am curious as to what people have done about the horns on the skull leader insignia since they go over hinges.

That makes me wonder, is it possible to play the iso for VFX2 on like a playstation 3 in a similar manner. I figure PS3 would be the only one that could do that and since it is backwards compatible with PS1 it sounds plausible. However VFX2 is probably not that expensive to actually buy so I doubt it would matter....

With this in mind I might look into getting a PSP someday, but for Christmas is unlikely as money is something I have to watch right now. I just got an Ozma 1/72 model and I plan to get a Michel 1/60 DX in March, those combined with Christmas stuff in general makes me need to watch money. I guess the 2000 and 3000 are the newer ones... Noted though, if I plan to do any modding, I will ask you wolfx since you seem to know how to do it, or at least explain it.
