The other fleets are looking for more planets like Eden to make more colony worlds for humanity. Frontier found one in the Vajra home world at the end of the series. Macross 7 as far as we know is still searching. Macross 5 found Lux but they were all taken by the Protodeviln later and then Gigile destroyed Lux to save Sivil so that doesn't really count.

I see.. It was that phrase initially that led me to believe it had a brittle airframe. I misunderstood, sorry people. Ok, so the 27 is just a strong, just not as easy to use for any situation. -

I'm still unsure if I will get the VF-25G. It likely has the same downfalls as the current two, being small landing hear, most likely a PVC antenna, the neck has looked good on that and it really is only a problem with the S variant it seems. On the other hand the G comes with super packs on release, that is good. Also it comes with a stand, so I don't have to see the landing gear, that should be good as well. It is more expensive though... due to the super packs of course. I don't know, it doesn't look like there is enough downside for it based on peoples experiences with the F and S to not want to get a G. (For the record the proportions aren't a big factor to me, I got a VF-25S model to have one in anime accuracy, now I just want my sniper valk and this one comes out sooner and with no building time). -

I didn't necessarily think there was a VF-24. What it seemed to me is Shinsei designed the YF-24 and then sold the design to various colony fleets (something more realistic in today's world than being contracted to build a whole series of jets). From there Frontier's LAI company re-modified the YF-24 design and came up with the VF-25 which apparently had much better performance than the YF-24 as it took our mysterious cyborg cabal by surprise. Meanwhile Galaxy Fleet did the same thing but with their prediction to cyborgs they designed a fighter to be operated by people with cybernetic implants that would be a death trap for anyone else thus making the performance higher than anything possible even with an Ex-Gear system, ala the VF-27 (which while being a super VF suffers from brittle airframe disease but since it rarely gets hit this is mitigated by it's speed and maneuverability). This doesn't mean however that Shinsei didn't take their YF-24 prototype and develop a manufacturer version aka a VF-24 and then sell that to anyone that doesn't want to take the design and tweak it themselves, but there is no evidence I believe to support that this was done so it would be speculation. -
I agree with Gubaba. When I first looked at it and watched the first episode I had serious doubts that I could get into it. It seemed silly, nonsensical, and a waste of time compared to the classics and Frontier. I might just be the best example of someone who was completely won over by Fire Bomber and the song energy concept. I had always liked Japanese rock music so I listed to some Fire Bomber and I really got into it, and if you can like the music the show becomes a lot easier to watch. I believe it was even Gubaba there who said it is less like a war drama with mecha in it like the original and more like a story about a rock band that has a mecha fought war going on at the same time. For me, liking the music well enough I started really getting into it after 5 episodes but the plot moves very slowly. I kept watching and bit by bit it picked up, you just need to keep with it. Now I'm not going to lie, Basara is an arrogant self absorbed jerk as he is. However if you pay attention to him enough in the show (as well as in Galaxy is Calling Me and Dynamite 7) what he says and does start to make sense and at least in my case I found I can respect him. The music is the best trait of the character but also he is somehow the best pilot on Macross 7 except for Max Jenius himself, and he does it while playing a guitar at the same time! (In the show the guitar is part of the control for the valkyrie but in Dynamite 7 he is able to fly a valk with standard controls by manipulating them with an acoustic guitar, no run of the mill pilot can do that!) So I say don't judge it on what little you have seen. It may be difficult to tolerate the type of story, the slow pace, and Basara at first; but if you keep an open mind I think it will grow on you.

That is just mean man. Nice pic IXTL, that Alto looks good in that pose and at that angle. -
Very interesting, I was a little curious about the story of Mylene being involving in something else but I just assumed she was trying to do her own thing and ended up nearly getting lesbian raped by a sicko. And when you are saying Dr. Chiba doesn't die to the disappointment of many are you being sarcastic? I kind of like his character, he can be funny. I always knew Colonal Barton was a bad egg. I wonder why they wanted to create an EVIL, after all the problems they caused (granted the EVILs never did much before they were taken over by inter-dimensional space vampires). All in all I liked D7, it was interesting. However I seem to be able to like Macross 7 as a whole easier than most people. Helps to like the music I guess but I also understand the point and power of the music (Basara would probably be ok with me). I thought the scene where he sings to the whales and they sing back at the end was cool.

They aren't pencils at all. I saw the refills online too and to this day I am still confused by that but I can tell you these markers are not pencils as they utilize an ink with a soft tip (basic definition of a marker). The markers are very fine tipped with only a little of the actual writing bit is visible. At first I had some trouble with them because I put too much pressure when I was marking and the ink came out as a blotch of liquid. I just had to ease up and it worked fine from there. As for model pricing. It is about 4500 yen in Japan still I believe. When I got my Ozma that translated to about $50 but with the declining dollar value lately I'm not sure what it equals. So I'd look for not much higher than $50 if you can avoid it but that may not be possible depending on dollar value and stock, plus I am not counting shipping rates, that will add to the price quite a bit from overseas... unless you order from Image Anime since they are in the U.S. but they overprice so the final amount there will be about the same or worse than importing with high shipping.

That spawned a lot of debate about the motion sensing capabilities the VF-25 appears to have but is never elaborated on. There seems to be some type of motion sensing technology (most easily seen with eye tracking missile locks) but how they switch between that and normal control is unknown. I imagine there is a setting to activate motion control systems, however they are supposed to work, and otherwise they use normal controls.

I don't know if that would work for panel lining or not but I'd go ahead and just get a gundam marker. I had a very easy time with it and if you mess up you can just rub it off with you thumb or fingers immediately and it comes right off. At first it seemed challenging to get in the lines but after a while I got used to it and it was very easy. Just once or twice I went outside a line and just wiped it off and continued. For reference I used a GP02 which is a grayish color that is dark enough to still be seen on the Ozma model (it was recommended by others in this topic). Although I had trouble finding it as it was sold out on a lot of sites and I eventually settled for buying it from Image Anime since I didn't want to wait to build the model, so I could have gotten it cheaper.

I can't tell you much about sandpaper but I actually filed down the sprues with an emery board. Works very well, I've done this with many models. I pretty much stick to using the fine side though as I don't have much in the way of tabs remaining thanks to the precision of my Tamiya model cutters. On a random note I have made 1000 posts, yay me! I have graduated from bridge bunny to holding Global's Pipe.. mmm... this feels much more professional indeed.

And looking at that pic I have only one thing to say to the VF-25S standing there with it's bent lasers and lack of neck.... 'You make me sad." -
I got it from HW Japan when they were having their 20% off all Bandai products sale. It was lucky timing since they only had 2 or 3 of them at the time. So I got it for about 3600 yen (without shipping) instead of 4500.. which in the end ran me a little less than $50. However I imagine they are long sold out, and I know HLJ isn't good with high demand products. I don't know much about other sites like Rainbow Ten or Overdrive (I've heard them referenced a lot) so I can't say much for that. However all of those are for importing, places in the US though? I doubt any but Image Anime would have it in the US, and the fact that Image gets imported things and sells them from New York is probably why they overprice so often since you don't have as much shipping to deal with. If you don't want to import (if any of the import sites had them) then Image might be your best bet for now.

Heh, wouldn't be the first time word play was used against me. Well done .

I am pretty sure Robotech just calls it a Female Power Armor (just like the Ngers are called Male Power Armors). Either way I don't think the name misspelling is a bad thing. Those things can be hard to remember how to spell sometimes.

I think it is ok, could be a lot better, but it isn't the worst thing in the world. So I picked number 3 on that. For second poll.. I am debating currently (as you can see in my sig) whether or not I will get a VF-25G, I wither will or won't so I selected VF-25G AND No. For the third, I like both just fine, but I have always been more partial to the chest area in the end. Everything is good sometimes.

Really.. that is almost about $55 a day give or take how our economy feels like slapping us today. That is some really good minimum wage there. Yeah, the DX isn't horrible.. but it isn't that good either. Don't know if I will get the Michael now... you can see my trying to debate it with myself in my sig below while I go on about how I like the 1/72 VF-25S model. -
I might be able to help you VFTF1. I am not a seasoned model builder and definitely no expert but I got the VF-25S model and it turned out quite nicely and I am satisfied. I was also looking to the DX as well but more for Michael VF-25G.... now I'm not sure, will have to see more on it but I am not sure. Regardless, these models are very nice. They do feel brittle at times and I wouldn't want mine to drop from a shelf (I remedy this by not putting it on a shelf, lol) but as far as model kits go this holds together very well. It seems sturdiest in Fighter and Battroid, I have to fight with it a while to get a good pose in Gerwalk, but when I do it usually stays in the pose without any problem. For the build, you do not have to paint anything if you do not want to as you can get it looking pretty good without paint. I did not paint by the way as I don't like going to that much trouble for models (also why I don't really build glue and cement models, I stick to snap fit because that is all I really want to do for a model). The build itself is very straightforward but it will take a while, I split it up into about 2 hours a day for 3 to 4 days just because I didn't want to work on it straight through. It builds into fighter mode and I panel lined it when I had the core components assembled (cockpit, arms, and legs). Without stickers or decals it is very... gray (or white if you go with Alto), the entire thing is all the right gray colors but looks very nice still with panel lines. I chose to do stickers since I'm not experienced with decals and I didn't feel like trying something new with this model but I hear both work out quite well. The stickers were pretty simple, some were difficult to apply though. You'll defined want the help of tweezers. Sometimes the small ones are easier to apply but the really big ones like the main stripes and the skull are easy to do. I only got frustrated with the stickers for the main stabilizers (upper tail fins I mean) and the cuffs for the legs but I got them on. All in all I say it will definitely give you the display piece you want but not much play value. Easy to handle but once transformed I pretty much just leave it there. Ironically when I first built it into fighter mode some parts (like the wing root pieces) seemed loose and didn't want to stay and the shield would always pop off, but now that I've had it go to Gerwalk to battroid, back to gerwalk, and now fighter again... everything is fitting together nicely all of a sudden and it looks great (had to get used to its form maybe). Also you will have a lot of random parts lying around, these things happen, I just keep them lying in the box which I will use for storage when I take this thing back with me to college (I plan to cushion it in the box so it doesn't get tossed around). The excess parts pretty much consist of the pieces that hold the gunpod on in fighter mode which have no use in the other modes, the landing gear if you aren't using them, open panels for the back gear or closed panels for the legs, the various connectors for the action base stand (which I don't have so I ignore them, but I may get a stand so I don't get rid of them), and two sets of hands that aren't in use depending on which you have on the model at the time (they include fighter mode hands, hands for holding gunpod or knife, and open hands for... well just open hands really). Also, the knife can be stored in the shield. So I think it is really good. I am satisfied. It looks great and all I did was build, panel line (with a gundam marker btw, I didn't do wash method), and apply stickers (I am keeping the decal sheet though, just in case). I can take some pictures of mine if you want to see it, let me know though because otherwise I probably won't but I'd be glad to show it off (though if you go back a couple of pages I do show a picture of my battroids head which I posted to make sure I had gotten the neck extended correctly which I now believe is correct). Hope that helps you VFTF1.

Ozma is a man, just the 1/60 scale representation of his Valkyrie fails to realize that, while his model does it and then some (for reference I own the 1/72 Ozma model and am 95% satisfied). I won't deny the bendy head lasers and difficult to see neck (it is there, just doesn't want to be seen) is a bit disappointing, but as far as everything else goes these things are looking pretty good. However I was not planning on getting the F or S. I am waiting on the VF-25G with super packs included, and on that topic that battroid always seemed to have a thicker head laser (mostly because there is only one I bet) so I have more hopes for the stability of that one. -
Ok, following up from my last post here is a close up pic of my VF-25S battroid head (the resolution isn't the best but you can see it) so tell me if it looks correct or if I was just imagining a turtle head before... however I must say it looks better now than I remember but it may have just grown on me.
-
There is a wrong neck piece? I only saw one. Nonetheless I think it is constructed properly. The chest plate is all the way down... maybe it is just my imagination, just compared to some pictures of the model the head on mine looks to be shorter (albeit not as short as the DX like in the joke pic OmegaD3K posted). I find it strange how much the neck stretches up as I haven't had a reason beyond apply head stickers for the neck to move up as far as it does. Maybe I'll take a picture and see if anyone thinks it is strange looking.

I too agree Michael's valk looks great even without fast packs. True eps. 2 and 12 are the only time it doesn't have fast packs. In ep.2 he is hiding behind a building most of the time and the only good look at his battroid is from the adjacent building's window reflection (I'll look to see the whites on it) and in 12 it was in gerwalk the entire time. Yeah I can easily see myself getting Michael's valk, the fast pack make it even more worth it though. -
Shouldn't it be the other way around since the core is closer to a super massive black hole and heavy gravity the likes of a black hole tend to cause relative time to slow down?
-
Agreed I like that super packs are separate but since I have the 25S I might wait for armor packs. On another note, I have transformed my 25S to battroid for the final phase of stickering and I am having some trouble making the head look right. It seems to want to pretend it is the 1/60 in that the head won't stick up very far as if the neck piece is too small. How is the head supposed to be positioned in battroid mode because I can't seem to do it right. Either the entire thing is stretched out or it is dug in to far behind the chest plate.
