Hmm.. the name Evolution is news to me, maybe it was on some behind the scenes thing.. or on that YF-24 screen in ep.15.

Dramatic effect, he was going against orders to get the civilian's refuge. We had to see that we was making it obvious there was help needed by hovering a large space craft over cities. Also it was Ontario (or rather the North American Ontario Autonomous Region) they don't have much in the ways of skyscrapers... that I know of... but I wouldn't know.

Macross Frontier and prior Macross mysteries
Master Dex replied to Syngyne's topic in Movies and TV Series
I don't ponder it all day, I just like to think about things like that a lot... I assume you meant to post a link. Nonetheless, of course FTL violates causality, it is a plot device after all. However I like to study the details of how some FTLs are supposed to work in comparison to what physics (as we know it) allows. It can give very interesting insights sometimes. However when creating an FTL for a science fiction show you don't want to focus too much on reality or you will get lost trying to make it sound like it could actually work, no one wants that, they want to see a show. So you make up special rules that allow the FTL to work, regardless of whether they'd actually work. Plot device my friend, plot device. -
Macross Frontier and prior Macross mysteries

Don't get too confused thinking about all that stuff, trust me I think about that a lot. Most science fiction FTL drives work in such a way as to circumvent special relativity so you don't have to worry about that. As such Fold travel is treated like regular travel on a higher level. Whereas it would take many thousands of years to travel sub light to another star, now you can do it in hours or days. You only deal with special relativity if you physically travel close to the speed of light (without the aid of some FTL system) and if you did that time would be slower on the traveling ship than outside so by the time you arrived it would actually be many hundreds of years later but it would seem only a short time for the traveling ship. Communication is similar, if you send a normal signal to another star, it will take years to get there (assuming a radio-like wave that travels at the speed of light like radio waves we use now do). The Fold communications send messaged through space folds it seems so they get to their destination much faster with as little lag as possible. Granted there are discrepancies in space fold technologies like the time dilation in fold vs. real space but I have the theory this is a result of fold faults as introduced in Frontier (where they wouldn't have known why that was the case before) but that is a completely different subject altogether so don't worry about it. Space Folding should then have no relation to time travel (although I'm sure you could find some way of inducing time travel with a space fold just because of the unique effects of messing with extra dimensions, but I won't get into that). In fact I'm not sure if we really know what Bilrer was trying to do besides trying to create a more efficient folding system to more closely tie the galaxy together. -
Good catch, the entire UN government would have had far more than 5 presidents by 2059 whether or not you include that scum-sucking, slimy, snake-ass Leon as a full fledged president. Of course this is assuming rules of presidencies we are used to, such as term length and number of allotted multiple terms (e.g. U.S. Presidency has 4 year terms with a 2 term limit (only broken once), not that I am basing only off U.S., just an example). In any case it seems unlikely that term lengths would be long enough or multiple terms to be plentiful enough to allow Howard Glass to only be the 4th president of the UNG. On the other hand, it could be that Leon is the 5th president of the NUNG, as it was only established sometime between 2047 (or 2051 if VF-X2 is canon) and 2059... but if the term length and term limits are to be assumed similar to real world presidencies (nothing specific) then it would seem the NUNG would not have had 4 presidents by 2059, only 1 or 2 at most. So excluding that due to unlikeliness I therefor have to agree with RedWolf that Glass was the 4th president of the Frontier colony state, Leon the 5th, and they are part of the larger NUNG which has its own presidency theoretically.

Macross Frontier and prior Macross mysteries

I don't see how living with the Vajra gives you instantaneous fold technology... the Vajra can't instantaneously fold.. they are just good at it. I also imagine with them as friends Frontier will no longer be harvesting fold quartz from their dead bodies... they might not like that... unless they don't mind it being done to those that died of natural causes. -
Macross Frontier and prior Macross mysteries

Or maybe everyone has come to terms with Megaroad-01 (or stopped caring) and don't think it is worth trying to figure out anymore. Perhaps that is best. -
To add to the 19 and 22 thing, even if their chance to shine so to speak is limited to Macross 7 (and their prototypes use in Plus) doesn't mean they aren't being used out there. I think an earlier theory that they are used by some colony fleets and the main Earth defense fleet is more than likely the case whereas fleets like Frontier and Galaxy chose to go for other options like the cheaper 171 or cybernetically controlled ghost fighters and mysterious non variable fighters like the one from ep.5 of Frontier. Also lets remember there is very likely a VF-24 that will replace many mainstream fighters based on the YF-24, it is only Frontier Fleet's LAI that cooperated with Shinsei to create the VF-25 design from the YF-24, Galaxy did the same to make the VF-27. Also it isn't like the 19 and 22 haven't had a good service life if they are going to be replaced soon by 24s or even 25s because they were introduced to fleets by the time of 2045 and it is now close to 2060 by the time Frontier is done so that is close to 15 years of service. Just because we didn't see them used isn't because they weren't used, it is because we were seeing the stories in the Macross universe that used something else instead. I have a feeling the 19 was in great use in some places.

Those were just VF-11D's with specialized sound boosters and two seater cockpits with a special heat shield cover to protect the singers. EDIT: Ah you figured it out before I finished posting, oh well, yes, the MAXL question stands.
-
I had a feeling it was probably something made up... but on that note what is the difference between the MAXL and the MAXL custom? Or is that not known?
-
Since the VF-11MAXL has been brought up, this seems like an appropriate time for me to ask a question about it. It is the most original of the Sound Force Valkyries, and I don't remember where I saw this but I remember once reading that the MAXL was supposed to be some sort of bridging the gap design between the VF-11 and the YF-21 or something like that (which makes some sort of sense if you compare the designs, the overall VF-11 look but the legs and head look very YF-21-ish). So my question is, is the MAXL supposed to be anything like that because I can't find anything saying that anymore, or was it only just ever Mylene's sound force Valkyrie designed for her use. It is always possible whatever I had read before was something fan made but I don't know so I just want to find out if that is true.

You got a point their Schizo, I didn't think about it needing to be airtight for space... that is a rare miss for me. Good thought on the gravity control March, always thinking every angle (literally).

Why would you build a city in the leg? The Leg is supposed to be a giant engine isn't it.. I figured the engine block was closer to the leg than the middle or anything. I just assumed the city was somewhere in the middle. That also makes me thing.. that city must have had some good leak protection for all those times the SDF-1 was submerged in the ocean after its return to Earth, considering the leg was completely underwater.

Macross Frontier Mecha/Technology Thread IV *Read 1st Post*
Master Dex replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
More than likely, how the citizens of Macross 11 haven't rioted and had him burned at the steak I cannot imagine. -
When I skimmed the tutorial on the PS1 exploit it seemed as if I would be able to figure it out in some way.. I may have to read it again. I haven't gone buying anything yet so I have a lot of time to figure it all out.
-
Good to hear, hopefully that can enable you to re-mod your PS2 now. I'm going to just try purchasing an Action Replay Max Evo set right form their site... it should have the media player but I cannot tell. If not then that link you gave me has an option to use ARMAX without the media player by using a PS1 game exploit... I have some friends with a few PS1 games I can borrow (hope it has media player though, that is much easier). Thanks for the files as well.. that link from before is how to patch it with memento and stuff right, not changing from a CD to DVD (which is what you originally has mentioned before realizing that isn't necessary)?
-
Don't let what a lot of people say fool you, Keith is right, Mac7 is a great show. You just got to give it a try with an open mind while knowing that it isn't supposed to be like the other Macross shows, but a show about a rock band with mecha action mixed into it. I for one became an official Fire Bomber fan thanks to this show. BOMBAA!!
-
Ouch, sorry to hear all that. As for the game, well I assume that link you gave earlier shows how to patch the game iso with memento and all the stuff it needed so I should be able to work it. Unless you think the patched copy you made seems good enough.
-
Noted, I'll do a search for Nero or other burning applications that can burn iso's to a DVD.
-
Then I'll just stick with the DVD-R since I've been using it, although I might have to get a new set so maybe +R will due fine. I just hope I can figure out how to burn at lowest speed, the only way I know of burning discs with with some windows utility. I don't have any specific program to do it but I know I can do it with windows in some way (I've burned episodes of Macross Frontier to DVD-Rs using Windows DVD maker, but I figure I'd burn the iso files differently, I am sure there is a way to do that) so I'm not worried about that.
-
Out of curiosity when it comes to burning the patched iso of the game you'll be giving me, does it matter to what type of DVD it is burned? Like will the PS2 (or ESR) play all types or does it have to be DVD-R, DVD+R, or both? I have the ability to burn any type so it is only an issue of which type is needed to be able to play it.
-
Ah, many tutorials for many things... that could prove useful, thanks again.
-
My only problem now is although I can find copies of ARMAX almost anywhere I can't verify that any of them have this max media player the video says it needs to have. The video says some copies don't have the player and it is essential. I found one possible site that may have the right version of ARMAX but I am really not sure... This could make things difficult.
-
Very well then, I thank you for expending your patience on my desire to play this very beautiful looking game.
-
In that case I'll stick with the idea of getting a fat PS2, that way I shouldn't have any problems. As with the game, if it is too much trouble to send the file in another way I can't ask you to do so. I don't know how soon I will be doing this whole thing anyway so maybe waiting until I can torrent download it will work. However I cannot say for sure. Right now I might decide to wait on doing a project like this so it doesn't interfere with my school work and all. I also need to give my bank account a rest since I just ordered my first ever yamato valk (which I plan to pretty much be the only one I may ever get due to their expense), a 1/48 VF-1J Max which costs a sum as you can imagine (even though it hasn't been shipped yet sadly so I haven't actually been charged yet). So due to that I may wait before I go buying a PS2 and ARMAX to do all this. Of course there is always the possibility I may find a way to make this work sooner but my point is I am in no obsessive hurry so if it is a pain to split that file up for megaupload then I don't think I should ask you to do that. However I have to say I do very much appreciate all the help you have been in helping me to understand this process.
