  1. I'll get the model kit and wait for 15 years for Yamato's make
  2. Not 1/60 but 1/100 DX though. Not sure this has been posted. If this is not the right thread, please move it. http://ga.sbcr.jp/mgangu/010962/
  3. With the look at the fighter mode, the landing gears will not be retractable. Instead, they will be simply removed in other mode; typical Bandai design... A little bit disappointed.
  4. Try search for silverdragon. He seems to have a few recast of 1/48 parts
  5. Ha Ha! Never thought of that . Yup, DYRL.
  6. Yes the heatshield will bind when sliding. The design is not perfect I must say. I'm still sanding the end part of the hump to match the lineart as close as possible. By the way, I'm using the Hasegawa 1/72 VE-1/VT-1 as a guideline. I just noticed that you once sold parts for custmization. Unfortunately, you don't. Congrat of being a father. If you re-open part selling, let me know, I need two white 1/48 pilots. Thanks!
  7. some progress... basically the chest area and the shield are done. need to focus on the head, the canopy and the second pilot...
  8. You're right. Basically I just raised the cockpit, modified the internal to fit in two seats, thus it resulted the long hump on the chest area. The reason being that the shield needs that length (the long hump) to completely tucked away in jet mode. I just had another idea for the shield but it comes late for this project. If I could get a hand on another VF-1 (when my pocket allows), I hope to try out a perfect transformed VF-1D with full length cockpit and yet the the shield tucked away neatly in jet mode. But that is another time far away...
  9. Sorry about the slow progress. work life is getting tougher. I finally fixed the chest area by re-doing that transparent part. Now the shield can be stored nicely in jet mode. There are still some way to go for the shield. At least one of the major hurdles to perfect transformation is overcome. One can say it is a truely 1/48 twin tandem seats Valkyrie now, I hope.
  10. I made the shield but could not fit in the chest in jet mode. Need another solution to it or I have to re-do the chest plate area. Argh! Once I fix this problem, I'll take some pics
  11. made a second pilot. the pilot is still in the very basic form. I hope I have the skill to make it better. I am not using vacuum forming for the canopy; just heated the transparent plastic sheet and push the mold over. Very primitive but still do the job.
  12. Unofrtunately not, I don't know how to cast. That is another technique I wanted to know...
  13. Since Yamato says no to 1/48 VE-1/VT-1 I decided to use my VF-1A as the test bed. Progress is slow as I am dead busy with my daily job. I hope to make it with perfect transformation (i.e. The shield is not removeable). But at this stage it's still too early to promise anything as this is my first true customization project and my skill is limited.

    Macross II VF-XX

Do you guys/gals have any screenshots of the VF-XX in the series? Could you post it here? Your help is much appreciated

    Macross II VF-XX

I wish I know CAD, so it's going to be a pencil. I only have Battroid and fighter mode of VF-XX. I still can't solve the back part (the part between the engines) in jet mode, when it transforms to battroid. I roughly know how both hands placed in jet mode though. It'll take some time before I could convince myself of the transformation. I try to get as accurate as possible. I'll use model plastic as it's easier to work with. I'll try to build as sturdy as possible. Anyway I'll try to find more info on VF-XX and do some research

    Macross II VF-XX

I'm planning to scratch build VF-XX toy. Does anyone has or know its transformation sequence? Your help is much appreciated
  18. Without your decal, my 1/48 2500th Anniversay VF-1A would not be possible. Thanks and good luck to your PhD and life
  19. My latest photoshop creation. Diverterless air intake, increase vertical tail and wings area Don't know if this is in the right section. Original photo is at www.airliners.net
  20. Gabe Q: The little sensor on top of the nose cone is made by a plastic tube (plastic rod is OK too) with putty and a lot of sanding. Knight26: Yes, the entire paint scheme and the modifications are based on the magazine. The only difference is that I have made a little changes on the sensor on top of the nose cone and bevel tail section. I have decided to use MiG-29 style, rather than the square-cut as shown on the magazine.
  21. Graham: Yup! you could add this to the gallery. Thanks!
  22. Updated with pilot, gerwalk and battroid pictures

  24. Sorry that I didn't take photo of step-by-step. Basically I have to dismantle the entire 1/48 and sand it with 600 - 800 abreshive paper. I then gave all the parts a coat of grey primary paint. Use masking tape (cut into desired shape to mask away the blue section. Apply 3 coats of Insignia White (Tamiya can spary). After the insignia white paint is thouroughly dried (preferably 1 day), remove the masking tape. Use masking tape to cover the white paint (cut according to the shape). Applied 3 coats of Cobalt Blue (Tamiya can spray). After it has dried, removed the mask and applied the final masking for the Orange (Tamiya can spray) color. There is some paint sipping through the seam of the mask. I use 800 - 1000 abreshive to carefully sand the paint away. Re-assemble everything, and applied the decal. After that I applied 3 coats of clear paint to protect the decal and the paint. The original decals are mostly white and the backgroud is very light blue. I have a hard time to cut the decals out as I could not see it clearly (except for the head logo). I took a picture before but it really turn out nothing. You could check with Anasazi, he should able to sell you one.
