  1. My favourite 2 seater. Pulling sentry duty now.
  2. Mine is on transit from NY. DX quality is always patchy. I've got the VF-171 CF with very good quality of the item and paint application but most of the VF-25 are just OK. It's all depends on luck...

    1/48 dead?

I love the 1/48 too. It has better fighter mode than the V.2 1/60. Unfortunately, the line is dead. Last heard was that Yamato was trying to make 1/48 VT-1 and VE-1 but all just died quietly...
  4. Don't worry mate. I'm sure when this is actually released, you could check on Mandrake site (http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/), you may get it cheaper than the pre-order. I made a mistake for my YF-29 Isamu. Should have waited for the release instead of rushing in for the pre-order from NY
  5. very nicely done!
  6. Another little step. Wish I have more time
  7. One small step... made the seat. I borrow the pilot from VF-0S
  8. I decided to start a project on VF-XS. It's a little bit ambitious to say it will be a transformable model/toy. As of now, I'm collecting some info on it. Basically I know VF-XS is just a temporarily name for the then VF-2SS. The original designer was changed after the initial design is completed and other designer stepped in to refine it to become VF-2SS. The picture is all I have for the VF-XS. I have only the front of the super pack battroid. I vaguely remember seeing one that shows the back of it. If anyone has it, could you share it here? There are a number of differences between VF-XS and the fdinal VF-2SS: - VF-XS has the smaller chest plate in battroid mode - The panel lines are different in the chest plate, legs and arms - It has a different gun - There are two air brakes on top of the body in fighter mode - The are at least two air brakes in the legs instead of just panel lines in VF-2SS - The main landing gear position are different in jet mode - The nose gear is different and seems to be in different position as well - The back jet pack in battroid is different - The head is different
  9. Yes, it's pretty much down to each person's perception and financial situation. Collector beware too, with such a high price and it's going to be higher for each release, it's going to hurt the value in long term. Simply, many will dump the old ones in order to generate enough cash for the new one. Look at the Yamato 1/48 VF-1 range. It has become pretty affordable now. Even the prices of the once rare and expensive 1/60 VF-0S is going down steadily. Regardless how limited quantity they produce, if the prices continue to rise, it will only hurt the collector value in long term. After all, Macross market is small and the limited number of people can have only that much income to spare.
  10. Yeah, and the red one look like Thrust from the Transformers too. So that makes the current white one a Ramjet?
  11. i remember paying 17200 yen when pre-ordering my yf-29 isamu and it was the RRP as well. when the product actual release, those brick and motar shop sold it as less as 15000yen. the difference could be used as EMS shipping charges.
  12. Agree with you that Gundam is the baby. Bandai almost if not always gives me the feeling that they want to make money from Macross but does not wish Macross become too big. One could see that they limit the number of stock to online retailers and yet so many brick and mortar stores in Japan have so many stock left over (which usually sell below the RRP). This allows them respecting their domestic market and yet make a lot of profit from the overseas (which many are paying RRP or above it) and yet restricting the exposure of Macross because of affordability. Still remember their cynical comment when Hasegawa first started to make Macross model? They said: Good luck! Aside form that I like Bandai. They can make good Macross toys. The DX and the HiMetal lines are good. I still like the HiMetal VF-1.
  13. I missed this as usual but will try my luck in HLJ. If I miss that too, I won't worry about it too much. I once rushed for the YF-29 Isamu and managed to secure on on NY (with inflated price), only to realize that when the actual product become available, there are so many of them readily available on Mandrake at a much cheaper price. So, those who didn't get it, don't worry. On a separate thing, I applaud HLJ of not joining the rest for the mad-rush-release. This at least give a chance for those who truly and really want the item for their own collection at a more reasonable price
  14. May be if it is a 2 seaters like the VE-1 and not green, it would actually better.
  15. This is awesome for a fan made film!
  16. Laserstorm, you are not alone here. Being a fan of both TF and Macross, it is getting harder to justify the asking price for the Valk.
  17. Not sure if this is the right section or has it been brought up before. If compare closely to the DYRL screen cap, the official VE-1, be it line art or Yamato toy, it differs alot. Parts that are different between the DYRL on screen VE-1 and the official VE-1 are pointed out by the yellow arrows in the pic below: - the front of the super back pack is squared off, just like the normal VF-1 Super Valkyrie, instead of the round one found in the official VE-1 - lack of side antennas on the super back pack - the connector between the rotating dome seems to have a rear facing camera or vent - lack of additional booster unit on top of the center thruster - the arm pack seems to look like normal VF-1 Super Valkyrie instead of the antenna cluster found in the official VE-1 - the bottom antenna seems to at an angle and has a lot more smaller antenna attached to it - the conformal tank/thruster on the leg have two bulged apparatus instead of one single big square box on the official VE-1 - the wingtip looks like the normal VF-1 with a few antenna rather than the bulge found in the official VE-1 With so many differences found, I wonder the on screen VE-1 is really the 'VE-1'. Could it be the VEFR-1 with super pack instead?
  18. I'd rather Bandai go straight into DX VF-1, if it is ever possible...
  19. YEs you can. Wait until it is release and go to Mandrake. You could even get a cheaper price than the RRP if you are lucky.
  20. Don't think Bandai would care much. The VF-1 market is already overcrowded. Though I still hope that there could have some 1/72 or 1/60 DX VF-1. There just needs to be a bigger version of HI-METAL with retractable wheels and shield and I'm sold.
  21. When I order from NY it's listed as 15120yen. Not cheap but not too bad.
  22. If there is 1/60 DX VF-1, it would be great. But I think the VF-1 is already overcrowded. Not sure Bandai will think it's profitable to do so.
  23. Any news on the pre-order? If they based it on the 1/72 YF-25, then there is a lot different from the standard VF-25. The cockpit of YF-25 is longer and stretches forward. That's the reason the LERX appears to be shorter.
