So you're telling me that when you made your Transformers Shapeways parts you were doing so on budgeted time frame? Really? Fortunately, I design mine taking however long I want. The 'restricted budget' I was initially referring to is the amount of money Hasbro allows their designers to use for each toy or wave. A third party does not have the same constraints. When Shogo Hasui was designing MP Lambor he was expecting a price point of 10000jpy, when he was told they would be 6000jpy he had to simplify it to make that goal. A 3P maker wouldn't be constrained by that.- 17378 replies

Not like Hasbro do. 3P are largely self-funded, they can be far more liberal with their time.- 17378 replies

Third party groups don't have to work to a restricted budget. They create scout-sized toys that cost $60, and are aimed at adult collectors with disposable incomes. Hasbro have to get theirs on pegs at Walmart for under $10.- 17378 replies

Robotech Academy - You want a new Robotech series...?
Tober replied to Einherjar's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
There isn't anything that would stop HG topping off the Kickstarter campaign themselves is there? Eg: If it gets to 350K and they throw in the last 150K themselves at the last minute... Or can they reduce the goal during the campaign? I'm still hoping this will completely fail and leave HG's execs thinking it might be time to downsize the Robotech department*, and not renew the license if it costs more than it brings in... *or hire someone good instead- 2025 replies

Is it possible that if the KS fails it will no longer be viable for HG to continue to renew the contract with Tatsunoko? Is that a possibility? They haven't had much luck suing anyone for a while...- 2025 replies

The wheels lock at the base. Both wheel struts should be pushed down fully, which is how they lock. They do move around slightly as there is no lock at the top, but tension should be the same on both sides. The Collection DX review video takes you through the transformation fully (from what I remember).

Top image is probably what you have, the bottom image (HA!) shows the bar extended from the bike body, which should result in the wheels being aligned properly above..

I think the left wheel is at an odd angle as it is not pulled out from the pole base properly. It's an easy step to miss.

Is it worth contacting people that ordered before? They probably don't want to miss out. Is 30 the limit or are the molds capable of more?

Yep, Prowl will be first. MP Sideswipe was a part of that leaked/hacked list that came out last year which included the mention of Leader class Jetfire and Megatron and a heap of others. Hasbro mentioned a US release of MP Bluestreak and Sideswipe at their Botcon panel about a week ago.- 17378 replies

I guess we'll know what's happening with VW when Bumble is released in November. I suspect that there will be a VW logo on those Masterpiece boxes... I thought MP Sideswipe was getting a US release..? Roadbots used to have licensed Lamborghini transforming bots a few years ago.- 17378 replies

What makes you think they don't have a license from VW? VW almost gave them the license for Binaltech, but it fell through because they didn't want Bumblebee to have a gun.- 17378 replies

It is a shame what happened to Arafat on TFW2005. I was behind the Kronos project until it became obvious that it was a parts-former to a severe degree and ended up canceling my pre-order because of it. I could get past the head and cockpit problems, even the lack of coloring, but not the reassembly aspect of its transformation. If he had engineered the transformation fully I would still have a pre-order. I will wait for reviews and maybe I will re-order it they are good.- 17378 replies

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
Tober replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Besides their ethics? Who said MMC are for sale? They are hardly publicly listed. And they can't really do anything Takara can't do, as far as engineering goes. 3PP have an advantage as far as being able to do just about anything they want goes. They don't have the budget restraints that Takara or Hasbro designers have, and don't have to meet their profit margins or sales goals etc.- 9344 replies

And if that SDF is also Metal Box then they should be Wonderfest exclusives and really expensive... kits.

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
Tober replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I doubt we'd ever see a Takara MP Jetfire, or the other 4 dinobots etc anyway. I don't really like Kronos' face sculpt, other than that I'm not sure what else would make it a better rendition of G1 Skyfire, besides restoring the split cockpit.- 9344 replies

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
Tober replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
So Daca Toys gets his Skyfire out. Then Fans Toys do a better version, maybe with landing gear... Then Fans Project do theirs... Caveat emptor for the 3PP buyer. It does mean we should see better versions later tho. And the weird thing is that they all seem to be copying each other. Skyfires, Dinobots, Gestalts... Where are Blaster, Jazz, Arcee, etc?- 9344 replies
