The commentary track on the ADV Megazone discs are full of errors. The ADV people may be old school fans, but they are also full of inaccuracies. Is the Aramaki interview you guys are referring to the one with Kakinuma as well from the ADV Mospeada DVD set that I transcribed on my old Masterforce.org website? It was more like the connection between Macross and Orguss. Somewhat similiar in look and theme, filling the same time slot. It wasn't intended to be a literal continuation of the story. The B-Club Special Artmic Design Works and the Entertainment Bibles have some good images of the early Vanity City design work and such, if you are interested in that.

I've been on the MW forums since like 2001. I remember all kinds of totally rabid, frothing stuff here. A lot of it got deleted, but anything related to the Toynami VF-1 back in the day inspired psychotic bloodlust. I remember a total restart of the board around 2003 maybe? Probably a lot of that stuff didn't even make it over. But MW has a rep for being super mean to people, especially newbies or anyone who dares to like anything related to Robotech. It looks like the hate for Toynami is just being movied over to Bandai. This behavior is sad, but not anything new.

These days? People have been haters on MW since the forums started.

I'm really into Beat Takeshi films. Sonatine and Fireworks (Hana-bi) are both incredible masterpieces. Moving, funny, artistic GANGSTER FILMS. Who does that? Haha.

Maybe it's realistic, but it's still annoying. Perhaps this is just flawed on a conceptual level. I don't always hate kid sidekicks, but this one I sure did. Yeah, give it another shot!

Well, like we said on the podcasts, Gandahar's animation is not as impressive as Time Masters', but Time Masters has a shitty story and annoying kid sidekick who whines through the whole movie and that deus ex machina ending blows. The only really interesting part in Time Masters is the naked angel sequence. Gandahar builds nearly the entire movie around something as weird as the naked angel/lava lamp thing, giant brain-penis from the future! Really, the lava lamp is obviously an early prototype of brain-penis. We are going to do Fantastic Planet soon. I mean, I've seen it before, but not for years, so it'll be interesting to see how I feel about it as an adult.

It's a bit early to say if it's crap or not, but I think if MW is going to say Crapnami, they should also be saying Breakmato.

You know, I looked through that thread and there's not really anything more than the barest whiff of a story. There's not really enough meat for it to be worth reviewing, IMO.

Well, there's Mech Graffiti and manga (Macross 7 Trash, Mylene Beat, and Macross II: The Micron Conspiracy), which we will probably do. I am thinking of maybe a Macross Omake episode where we talk about FB2012, Mech Graffiti, and those little Macross Frontier webisode things where they are office workers and maybe separate podcasts devoted to manga and such.
