I can't answer that. I'm unable to be objective about Voltron. But Gunbuster is a much more impressive feat of engineering.

I might've been engaging in a bit of hyperbole. (I DEFINITELY wouldn't pay SoC prices for the stand without a really good robot toy.) But I do love the display stand, and feel it compliments the main toy in a way that few such stands do.

Best part of SoC Gunbuster is the display stand styled like a service gantry. Which isn't to say that it is NOT a cool toy, because it is and I totally wish I had one.

I think he was saying that the Transformers fans are suggesting the T38 as a "more modern" plane, indicating how little they actually know about planes.- 9247 replies

If the Petit Cola Company has taste that good, it is no wonder they apparently dominate the industry. -

I've set a big Sword Art fan up with "Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online". AKA "People can play video games without it becoming a big melodramatic life-and-death struggle, our hero isn't a ridiculous self-insert fanfic character, and sometimes folks JUST HAVE FUN WITH GAMES." Truly a revolutionary premise in storytelling. I think that sums up my attitude towards both the Sword Art franchise in general and the Gun Gale spinoff in specific. -

Yes, but can an AI tell us whether Petit Cola tastes more like Coca-Cola or Pepsi? -
Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!

You know, that M3 link reminds me... I've long been curious how that dang Petit Cola machine was POWERED. Refrigeration isn't exactly a low-energy process, and I'm FAIRLY sure they haven't installed microfusion generators in friggin' coke machines. Are they using Tesla-style remotely-beamed power? Do they have a short time they can be away from their power dock before the drinks start warming up? Do they just carry a tank of liquid nitrogen for cooling? IMPORTANT QUESTIONS ARE BEING ASKED HERE! -
To be less intentionally opaque, that's my second-favorite(since #1 is the Bandai), and is mostly because it was the only complete Voltron I had(after my mom made me give the wind-up rolling lions to my sister because I "have enough robots already"). I had two of the metal lions(yellow and green), and they were awesome. But no complete Voltron.

"No details are being revealed about the characters Cabrera and Hurd are playing, but I hear Cabrera will play the pilot of Picard’s ship who also is a skillful thief. Hurd is playing a former intelligence officer who is a brilliant analyst with a terrific memory that has not been affected by her drug and alcohol abuse." STOP SMEARING GRIME ON RODDENBERRY'S NAIVELY IDEALISTIC SHINY UTOPIA. ... Also, how does theft even make sense in a world with friggin' replicators?

Time to go collect, mafia-style. Honestly, the pre-order circus is just stupid. One would think that they make enough units to fill pre-orders, but it seems like they actually make an intentionally inadequate number to encourage preorder madness and scalper abuse.

Not gonna lie, if you're buying the toy for the engineering, you can skip SoC Voltron. Lion Voltron has been a solved problem for ages, and the transformation can be summed up roughly as "the diecast Matchbox toy, but with two axes of movement at the shoulders and hips". It is very much a "what you see is what you get" kind of toy. ... And I'm still sad it didn't come with an "energy bar" so I could do a proper "form blazing sword" pose.

Which is probably why they've not tried to buy MOSPEADA and Southern Cross outright. They could do it, but why bother without Macross?

As long as they all have nice chrome plastic where it belongs, and Hasbro doesn't cheap out/get scared. I propose we call them Rumzy and Fremble forevermore. Cartoon loyalists are unhappy, toy purists are unhappy, even the comic fans are grumpy.- 17056 replies

I've got the old version(one NES style, one FamiCom style). I did check a Mk 2 recently, and it has the same issue. The pivot is about an eighth of an inch too low. Place your thumb on the center of the cross-key and press down, and it drops down before it comes to rest on the pivot. It plays hell with rapid changes of direction, as it falls out from under you while you're switching, JUST far enough to throw movement off. I go to snap from left to right and I stutter along the way when I try to rock it across the pivot. To be clear, it is far from the worst implementatoin. It doesn't want to fall into diagonals, it doesn't have weird sensitivity issues. And there IS a pivot. I've seen a lot of directionals lately, even from some respectable companies, that simply didn't bother with it, and as far as I'm concerned they are COMPLETELY unusable. It is just frustrating that they got so close, and didn't make the final interior fit and finish check. I can't think of a good spacer offhand to get it from 95% to 100%, like the old 360 pringles mod(a far worse case of slight tolerance issues messing up an otherwise well-designed d-button).

Very nice on both counts. I didn't know 8bitdo was doing actual Sega-style controllers now instead of just painting Nintendo-style controllers black and blue and calling them Sega-style. ... Did they fix the d-pad tolerances that plague the N30 Pros?

Making the lions able to sit like dogs was apparently a primary engineering goal, since it is iconic. They didn't say it, but I suspect also because the rest of the engineering is child's play(it isn't THAT diffrent from the original toy).

Ah, but you're not considering it in the light of privacy laws passed after the Eugenics Wars shattered most of the nations of Earth, World War Three nuked the rest, and the Bell riots exposed systematic oppression and segregation of the poor in the United States... which managed to survive both wars unscathed? Basically, Star Trek is an inconsistent mess on the best of days, and the titular TV series especially was rarely concerned with continuity that lasted more than an hour. Just gotta roll with the punches.
