  1. Probably. I blew up a bunch of V'gers in the Vectrex Star Trek game, but they didn't look much like the one in the movie.
  2. For a brief period right around when it came out, there were about a dozen threads about "Hollywood ripped off Macross Plus" active at once, and it got KIND OF ridiculous. And then the decree came down that enough was enough, everyone knew, and we should shut up about it and find something else to be angry about. (Very rough paraphrase)
  3. I like Stealth, and think the Macross Plus comparisons are overblown. But at least mentioning it isn't completely verbotten anymore.
  4. I'm just surprised it isn't a white repaint of Prime v3, or a Megatron v3.
  5. In fairness, they don't usually want to use more than names in the movie adaptations anyways. Better to attach familiar names to unrelated nonsense and then sell it as an adaptation of a beloved franchise. (I'm still a little surprised that Bay's "Optimus Prime" turned into a truck.)
  6. Haven't MOSPEADA fans suffered enough at HG's hands already? No one deserves Shadow Chronicles.
  7. Why not, Robotech's stolen from everyone else at this point, and the artists gotta trace something.
  8. Kickbacker, reporting in. It is pretty good in almost all respects. It definitely has the look and feel of a GBA or DS Castlevania game. I feel it draws a lot of play inspiration from Order of Ecclesia. My only complaint is the writing. Let us just say it leaves something to be desired at points. (I think the game as a whole would be greatly improved by removing one single scene. And rewriting that scene to be less ham-handed could easily achieve the same goals without bludgeoning the player in the face with a crowbar.)
  9. I never had a Saturn either. Windows 95 and XBox OG ports(the latter as part of PD Orta).
  10. Okay, guys, seriously. How are we all still talking about Final Fantasy 7 Episode 1 when there was a friggin' PANZER DRAGOON REMAKE on the floor?
  11. I'm half-surprised it doesn't have bright white panel lines.
  12. Thanks, I didn't know the R-Type Finaler fundraising drive had started. Edit: Oh my gosh, they have a picture up of an R-9 in Skull-1 colors!
  13. Ingen's company has the best PR division in the world. Spared no expense. Thought we learned that from Jurassic World. They opened a new park on the old site and it was standing-room-only.
  14. Well, I missed the show and didn't have the cash free anyways. Hopin' for a proper US release announced later.
  15. I watched this trailer solely because of this line and was disappointed to see it was moon buggies on the moon and not, like, everyone trying to pass Starman's Tesla.
  16. NOPE. The whole "toon accuracy at all costs" thing just makes him look incredibly derpy. And his shoulders are hilariously awkward with how far back they are. Some of that's just because he's a slavishly accurate Hound, but... I thought in the cartoon they slid forward and down so they were under the fenders, meaning this isn't even cartoon-accurately derpy?
  17. Well, yeah, but any blow to HG is a win for us and IT IS HAPPY DANCE TIME! Next stop: US court, and then Mac+ BluRay sets!
  18. I'm trembling with excitement! Finally, it is happening!
  19. I hope so too. I mean, I'm sure it won't, but I hope. A mercenary corp actually makes sense for anime, though. It makes it much easier to explain why your heroes aren't adhering to a proper military dress code and seem awfully young to be enlisting in the army spacy.
  20. Because vehicles get no attention to the underside. They can hid all the garbage down there, who cares? Can't do that with airplanes, so they just shrug their shoulders, go "we have no way to hide things when they can see the underside" and stop trying. I think they are so stuck in the cars mindset that they haven't realized there's OTHER ways to hide things.
  21. Not contractually. They haven't signed a document that says "We're never going to use another company's designs without written legal permission". But their own legal department would definitely discourage them using any vehicle they don't have a license for, be it car, boat, or plane. The halcyon days of the 80s where you could make a toy Porsche with a sticker that said "PORCHE", or a video game about an F-14 blowing seven kinds of hell out of everything and never naming it anything other than "jet", and still be totally legit are long gone. Vehicle companies file copyright and trademark claims on the look of their "things that go" nowadays, and it is a bit of a crapshoot if a real vehicle is going to evade any legal challenges. The unlicensed companies already give no craps about any "look and feel" threats, but the standard for airplanes in the converting robots market is so abysmally low(read as "almost exclusively hang-gliding robots") that there's little need to expend the effort as long as the head hides away.
  22. Honestly, it is amazing how much just swapping Sonics does for the movie. Once he looks like Sonic instead of what one fan described as "a pervert in a Sonic tracksuit", it is a lot more tolerable. Heck, it even improves some of the friggin' dialog. That "Meow?" joke is stupid as all get-out with the "realistic" Sonic, but I actually laughed with the cartoony Sonic. I think it just because expectations are different for "realistic" characters than cartoony ones. Seconded on fixing Robotnik. Tell the visual effects team to just use models and textures lifted from the games for Sonic(since it clearly worked for "some guy in his spare time", and spend all their budget on making Jim Carrey as round as a beach ball.
