In fairness, it was always to a captain who wanted nothing to do with Q's antics. Even when he showed up in DS9 and Voyager, it was exasperated sighs all around.

Here's an idea. They've done GI Joe X Transformers to death, but what about Transformers X MASK? Or would Rhino turning into a robot hit a little too close to home?- 17056 replies

Senators receive classified briefing on UFO sightings

Granted, and most of the data informing those decisions was being GATHERED by the V'gers. There was also the time the heliosheath caught back up with V'ger 2 due to an increase in solar wind activity. -

Official Sky Lynx. Combiner Wars Sky Lynx for the torso with the Power of the Primes dinobots for limbs. My affection for the "character" is a bit of a problem. I don't always explain what in Primus' name Dino-Soar is because I forget everyone else didn't do this.- 17056 replies

Voyager 2 is officially in interstellar space. To me, though, travel means there's a living creature onboard. I'm not "travelling" when I kick a coke bottle across a parking lot. Apollo is that one time humanity opened the front door and looked out at the world. Didn't step out onto the porch, though. We closed the door, went back to bed, and spent the next few decades shouting out the bedroom door about how we explored the world because we opened the door once. -

I think Classics Grimlock is a really cool modernization of the original character. I thought the robot mode, like most of the Classics line, pulled enough from the original toy be recognizable as such while still doing its own cool thing. The "tailwhip" just sucked, though. I'd love to see a larger version. I wish the Classics line, as a whole, had seen a larger budget. My Classics Grimlock is actually still on display. He's standing alongside my non-canon combiner Dino-Soar(which I still absolutely love), opening a Matrix swiped from (a broken) MP-1 Prime at Universe(I think) Unicron's shin while Dino-Soar holds the big orange guy off with an energy sword(that I swiped from something forgotten at present). The takeaways from this scene are: 1. A tyrannosaurus comes up almost to Unicron's knee, and a space shuttle/dinosaur combiner is large enough to engage a planetbot in melee combat. Scale is for chumps. 2. Stealing parts makes scenes more awesome. 3. Him Grimlock have touch! And yeah, I'd like a nicer Unicron, but... not for six hundred bucks.- 17056 replies

I can't read any of that, so I have to ask: Is it a complete Unicron, or a replacement head in the old tradition of "we mostly make upgrade parts for Transformers" instead of the modern one of making legally-distinct converting robots that are coincidentally very similar to a certain popular franchise.- 9247 replies

Ahhhhhh. I'd thought they meant lack of oversight in the "the quality is rubbish and we don't want to be bothered with sorting out a coherent timeline that considers all this crap" sense, not the "holy crap, they pirated from EVERYWHERE to make these, didn't they?" sense.

In all fairness, NEMESIS undid that right away. The final scene of Nemesis grabs the audience by the ears and screams "B4 IS BECOMING DATA" in their face.

I'm less upset than when the rumor was "Captain Picard helms Section 31, leader of a band of extra-legal rogues, cutthroats, and murderers". It no longer defiles one of Trek's most beloved characters and tarnishes him with the same edgy sociopathic brush they've swept across the rest of the franchise. This has taken it from pure revulsion to ... well, apathy. It isn't enough to make me want to watch it, but it is enough that I no longer feel an automatic instinctive hatred. And that brings me to the most beautiful thing about this. No one is forcing me to watch it, and I don't actually have to care. This liberating revelation kept me out of theaters for The Last Jedi* and Ghost in the Shell(the most recent one), and it will likely serve me well here. If it is awful, then ... oh well. Not the first awful Star Trek tale(or even entire series). I can just ignore it and get on with life. If it is fantastic, people who DID watch it will tell me, and then I'll seek it out. *And I really must thank JJ Abrams for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It was a disjointed and unsatisfying mess, and I spent a lot of time contemplating the idea of investing myself in ANOTHER bad trilogy of Star Wars films afterwards. The realization that I didn't actually HAVE to watch The Last Jedi, or any other sequels, prequels, remakes, sidestories, or events... that I wouldn't become some sort of social pariah for not being in the loop on pop culture... it was liberating. I wish I'd been mature enough to accept it after The Phantom Menace, or Transformers: A Micheal Bay Film.

Spoilin' my fun, like a big spoiley spoiler. Gotta admit, it is awesome that he actually OWNS AND OPERATES a fighter plane. ... Pity he couldn't get a Tomcat off the Navy when they decommissioned 'em all.

There's like a negative 300% chance that the US Navy is going to let a civilian pilot one of their fighters alone, even if he DOES have a pilot's license. It was obvious from the start that it wasn't going to be Cruise doing any aviation stunts.
