  1. In fairness, part of the reason Robotech takes so much flak is how much time HG has spent talking crap about Real Macross and firing dubious legal threats at Macross fans. It never ends well when you declare war on your customer base. No one has this much hatred to spare for Voltron, because WEP hasn't been a writhing mass of self-motive dicks to the fanbase. (Also because Golion and Dairugger XV are even smaller footnotes in anime history than MOSPEADA is, but that's neither here nor there.)
  2. Yeah, the thread title is misleading. Less "Mari Ijima has gotten involved" and more "Mari Ijima has been dragged into" She said she didn't want to talk about it.
  3. In fairness, HG has spent years calling part one of Robotech "The Macross Saga", so ... he can't really be blamed for this one?
  4. That was why I said Tsubasa's PROBABLY my favorite. Chris put up a couple of good counterarguments.
  5. Just sayin', the relics are powered by song energy, and Basara has LOTS of that. Tsubasa is probably my favorite of the characters I'm SUPPOSED to care about, but it is hard not to like someone as over-the-top as the commander.
  6. *sigh* I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but hope springs eternal. Good job setting them on the path to goodness and light(I assume).
  7. Well, you know what they say. A million monkeys throwing spaghetti at the wall are bound to paint the Mona Lisa eventually.
  8. That is what I'd do. Even if keeping the zentradi, I'd make my "veritech" look more like an ancestor of the Alpha than a descendant of the Tomcat. ... I'm wondering if that one with the, ummm, bulging cockpit might have been trying to do that from the wrong direction. The front end bears a passing resemblance to the Logan from Southern Cross/Masters Saga.
  9. I would totally watch a ferengi heist movie.
  10. Now just imagine a world where Basara gets his hands on a relic. Also, the commander is my favorite character.
  11. And my dirty toy-supremacist self is going to concede the wisdom of not drawing much from the original toy in all three cases. It was the toy I wanted so much as a kid, but in hindsight it just looks kinda... terrible.
  12. Oh, they're making a fourth season of Macross? ... Actually... serious question. Are we past the point where the uninformed think RT's "Masters Saga" and "New Generation" are the second and third season of Macross, or are the robotechies making sure confusion reigns supreme to this day?
  13. They rebuilt the Pink Pecker squadron!
  14. The frig? That's even worse than store exclusives, store credit card exclusives.
  15. I stand corrected. Good. That's an interesting character to revisit.
  16. For the third time. Best of Both Worlds was devastatingly crippling, until they got better. First Contact was catastrophically final, until Janeway accidentally resurrected them. And then Janeway killed them by going back in time and getting assimilated so she can... do the same thing Ent-D did in Best of Both Worlds and upload a virus, only with a martyr complex ensuring it is a suicide mission. Forgive me if I doubt that this time they're really and truly dead.
  17. That's exactly what Wikipedia, bastion of truthiness, claims happened. Producers were all "put Q in it so people know it is a real Star Trek show", writer was "I have no feel for these characters and how they'd react to Q beyond simple annoyance. Let's just use the episode to show how they aren't reskins of Picard's crew."
  18. The cleansing thermonuclear fires take so LONG, though!
  19. Yeah, the writers often didn't know what to do with Q, or fundamentally didn't "get" him. Just "it is time for a Q episode, so someone tell me what a Q is."
  20. Then use a diffrent scene for scale-checking. That's the beauty of this cartoon, everyone is a diffrent height in every scene.
  21. 's okay, everyone else crit-failed to notice them.
  22. That was the impression I got looking at Not-Slags. Especially obvious there, because cartoon Slag's dino back rises very high above his hips.
