I certainly hope so. While the other movies were musicals because Disney cartoons are musicals, in Little Mermaid's case it was baked into the story and characters.
-
Maybe they'll give her red hair with CG in post. But yeah, the constant string of Disney remakes are just depressing coming from a studio that once prided itself on workmanship and creativity.
-
Like I said... it's a little late to be shouting about author's intent after praising Disney for taking a dump on said intent for ... basically the animation studio's entire existence.
-
I'm positive that Disney took a huge dump all over Andersen's story the first time around and no one cared(Why is the witch the size of Godzilla? Did they just ram her like Jaws? What is this bullcrap "lived happily ever after" ending?) . Calling "author intent" now is a little late. ... Especially if you're going to call the main character Ariel while making the case, which is a Disney-created name. Andersen named her simply "the youngest sister".

I'm not disappointed in Disney for doing another cashgrab remake, just resigned. I did a rapid imagesearch, and it is obvious why Halle Bailey got the role. Aside from having a singing career already, there's one other advantage. Skin tone aside, she actually LOOKS a lot like Ariel. At least, that was my first thought after I did an image search. And let's be fair here. The first movie's Ariel was way too dark for someone who lives down in the water, away from the sun, under the sea. If they're not casting a legit albino, then whatever. ... But the casting of Sebastian will make or break the film, in my opinion. He's the key role as far as I'm concerned.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
JB0 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Thanks for reminding me this happened. I'm rather fond of the original game (and not alone), looking forward to the remake's english release, and... well, I was curious about the anime version. Two episodes in and I quite like how they're handling it, though I really wish they had some better animation. -

When your children's toy line has more detail than your adult collectors' toy line, it is time to rethink your approach. (I think Siege goes overboard on the "teched-up" look in places, but the current MPs are just... ugh.)- 16782 replies

Honestly, I assumed CBS was just counting on the guy realizing he couldn't afford to fight CBS and taking any offer they made, no mattter how patronizing(or disappearing before they made an offer, given they successsfully stalled him for almost an entire year beforehand).

I think my favorite part was: Judge: You guys need to stop filing generic requests for dismissal and start making specific legal arguments. Also, you are legally compelled to supply Mister Abdin's lawyers with any relevant information they ask for. CBS: Here's another generic request for dismissal, and we're ignoring Mister Abdin's lawyers. If we pretend you didn't say anything, it never happened. Though I must admit "We promise not to sue you for getting ripped off by us. BTW, we're on vacation so bye." was pretty special too.

Okay, I have to ask: are these footraces in the traditional sense, or are the foot thrusters used? In short, do the GERWALKs run or skate?

That's ironic, given Top Gun is mostly a human interest story. Heck, I'd say it is about a third romance story, dangerously close to "chick flick" territory. It is almost perfect in that regard, actually. It has a little bit of everything, but it all comes together naturally to combine romance, loss, personal growth, and really cool jets into a movie that everyone can enjoy. It is the chick flick that men can enjoy.

That's modern Hollywood for you. Why do something original when you can recycle an old name instead? Even better if, once the name is secured, you make sure the movie has very little to do with the namesake.
-
I am down for that.

Pretty sure the budget didn't allow two off-the-shelf model kits. Star Trek was perpetually cash-strapped. But 1710 was definitely a better choice.- 924 replies
