    I just want to fit Macross 2036 into the time line. Spent too much time with that CD rip and TurboGrafX emulator for it to be non-canon.

    How else are we supposed to know that him Grimlock king? Kind of a shame they stumbled at the finish line here. If they'd kept it up for all five of their legally-distinct converting robot dinosaurs, this woulda been something very impressive. I do like that the transparent plastic is a part of his dinosaur neck on this one, though. The previous iterations suffered a bit from trying to offer both toy-style and cartoon-style with the add-on smoky plastic pieces. Integrating the smoky plastic into the design makes for a nicer end result.

    Kinda makes you wonder about the protoculture, though. They coulda dropped these thing into stars, folded them into supernovas, filled 'em up with antimatter, or stuffed 'em down the gullet of a black hole, but decided "nah, a pile of dirt'll be fine." I'll give them a pass on the protodevlin, but the Delta battleship shoulda been rendered inert before they disposed of it. ... But then, their idea of safe genetic testing in 7 WAS "spring-loaded spikes in the floor collect ample blood samples, it'll be fine". I probably shouldn't be surprised they just buried their doomsday weapons under dirt.

    I watched season one expecting hilarious trash I could laugh at. I ended the season honestly loving it. Which is impressive for a show done on the cheap and rather blatantly designed first and foremost to sell CDs. I'm more ambivalent about G and GX. There's some stuff they did that I really like, and some stuff I could do without. Can't fairly offer an opinion on the rest yet.

    I think you're thinking of Chris's season one arc. That wasn't a sexual relationship, and I'd call it torture and brainwashing, not BDSM. Chris's whole backstory is all kinds of messed up. And then she got saved by someone punching an explosion to death, and now she lives with the good guys. Happy ending(except for the part where she's got boatloads of psychological baggage)

    I just finished that one recently. I'd been watching it when it was new, but fell out halfway through and never got back to it. Partially because life problems, but mostly because I wanted to punch Hibiki's dad and the screen was in the way. I'm mostly okay with how it turned out in the end.

    Just that the mis-spelling bugs me a lot. Not that it is a racial slur or anything.

    It bugs me a lot that they describe him as a "berserkar". If it is a pun, it is a bad one and should be "bersercar". If it is an error, it is an offensive one and they should learn to spellcheck.

    I've gotten in the habit of pasting into notepad, then copying from there to get a formatting-stripped version. Does ctrl-shift-insert work too? I'm one of the weirdos that uses shift-del for cut and shift-ins for paste.

    This is true, but we hated RT and HG back when HG wasn't actively blocking sequel releases, and Plus and II were staples of anime sections in video stores nationwide.

    Especially since VF-X2 was on the cusp of a US release. Bandai was running magazine ads for it with a final ESRB rating(E for Everyone) when they MYSTERIOUSLY DECIDED not to release it FOR SOME STRANGE REASON. We have no clue why, but it probably rhymes with Garmony Mold.

    WEP has had some legal issues over the years, but it has boiled down to "Sorry, we thought we had those rights. Yeah, we'll pay you for that. No, you don't need to drag us to court." until they finally went "What will it cost to just buy the two shows off of you outright?" Also, WEP's equivalent of The Sentinels went off without a hitch when they commissioned Toei to create an additional season of Lion Voltron. There's a few HG-related incidents in specific I'm thinking of, but for a while it seemed like HG's official corporate stance was "Macross fans are scum and we must ensure they can't spread their filth or even enjoy their hobby in private, we will DESTROY THEM AND ALL THEY LOVE MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!". I'd hoped their attitude was softening after they went back on their word and licensed SDF Macross for an official english release, but things rapidly returned to business-as-usual afterwards.

    How do you feel about the new transformation sequences? I greatly preferred the season 1 transformations.
