  1. Honestly, I think they had bigger plans and then something went wrong. The hand articulation implies they are supposed to fold into the arms, but they don't. And the tolerances are all screwed up in several places, from a manufacturer that isn't known for incompetence. I don't know if budget or schedule or what got in the way, but it really feels like it was only half-finished. Hell, maybe they just blew all their engineering budget on the legs. ... Fortunately, I like curvy robots for their own sake.
  2. I picked her and her "sister", Echara the pachycephalosaurus, up in the same sale(only Primus can judge me!). Echara's weapons are better, in that all of them will stay pegged in wherever you peg them(they are also stolen from the Teenage Ninja Robot Turtles, as she carries ninja stars, throwing knives. and swords styled like sais). Also, I think the very thick and tall forehead works better for Echara(because pachycephalosaurus). You forgot one important detail: She can do the "boobs & butt" pose(once I realized she had a butt, there was no doubt in my mind that this was happening). But she can't put her hand on her hip(I WANTED her posed like she was pulling her gun off her skirt armor). I don't understand how they can do so well with the legs and then just phone in the arms. Which is really my impression of this entire mold: the things that are done well are done very well, and the things that are done poorly are done very poorly. And, well, the dinosaur mode is basically the Transformers equivalent of a fursuit. It is CLEARLY just a humanoid robot wearing a dinosaur head and claws and calling it a transformation. Which, well, isn't the laziest transformation in the line's history, but it is up there.
  3. I've described Top Gun as "the chick flick guys like", and I stand by this. The thing is 90% romance and drama, and 10% pilots being awesome. They put in just enough jets to keep guys from realizing what they were watching. The Top Gun people think they saw isn't actually a movie that exists.
  4. We'll just have to find somewhere other than YouTube to watch them. There's a couple of alternatives right now that all have the major flaw of not being YouTube, but Google seems dead-set on making that into a universal advantage.
  5. That's the Terminator tradition, isn't it? Judgement Day spits on the premise of The Terminator, Rise of the Machines hits undo on Judgement Day, Salvation ... we just don't talk about Salvation. I don't even know on Genisys. The trailers made it look so dumb I couldn't oe bothered to even read a summary. Pretty sure it undoes SOMETHING by making John Conner a badguy.
  6. I mocked up a zero-effort improvement, to prove their designer handed them a box and claimed it was a design. All proportions are eyeballed, no line edges are cleaned up. I couldn't be bothered with faking perspective and editing their off-angle promo shot. Just add a diagonal line coming off the optical drive that goes back up near the top. It is ALREADY more interesting to look at.
  7. See, Sharon(and HAL) and that Corsair case have distinctive accents and details. The neXtBox is just a box. It is bland and boring. Even the original Nintendo had more character, and that's the second-blandest system I can think of. Not that this is what matters, ultimately, but they paid good money for someone to "design" this plain box. Microsoft, fire your designers. They're bad at this.
  8. Ohhh, that weird Robotech knockoff movie!
  9. I think this is a reference to something.
  10. In fairness, Macross fans weren't going to donate their money to fund production of Harmony Gold's pilot episode anyways, and any bridges between the two communities have long since been burned. Giving us the finger didn't hurt them, it just made them look like petulant children(as usual).
  11. I think that is what we were all saying. No one was saying George Lucas was a visionary and master storyteller. Just that he was making the movies he wanted to make, and Disney Wars isn't what anyone wanted to make.
  12. I think Lucas was a victim of his own success. He started believing the hype about "George Lucas made Star Wars all on his own with no help from anyone", and... he needed some help. So "Poor George, no one was around to show him how bad Phantom Menace was"
  13. Man, why did no one tell me there was a super robot made entirely out of motorcycles? Thates awesome!
  14. Well, there is that. But even before that happened, I think there's one thing that runs through all the Lucas Star Wars films that isn't present in ANY of the Disney films. Whether good or bad, the Lucasarts films were the movies that one guy wanted to make, more or less. The Disney films are typical Hollywood design-by-committee affairs, and the difference shows, no matter how much Hollywood wants to believe it doesn't. I'm not saying that The Force Awakens is WORSE than The Phantom Menace, because I believe you can make a good case for Episode I being the worst movie ever. I AM saying that The Force Awakens lacks a soul. The Phantom Menace is a bad movie, but it is the movie someone wanted to make. The Force Awakens isn't the movie anyone wanted to make. It is a collection of check marks and bullet points that's been worked over by so many people that all the facets of whatever gem was once inside it have been worn off. Whatever made it special was cut off and polished away.
  15. Welcome to Transformers: Siege. Every character has some annoying battle damage paint slapped across it. Some of them wear it well, some you basically can't see it, and some ... are Soundblaster.
  16. Not gonna lie, with the whole "toon accuracy or GTFO" thing that's been running through the franchise lately, it is REALLY weird for them to suddenly be "toy accuracy or GTFO" for Rumble, where opinions about toon vs toy accuracy are strongest. Personally, I think they should sell the toon-accurate one as Rumble, and the toy-accurate one as Ranburu. Or Toon Rumble and Comic Rumble. THERE IS NO FRENZY.
