    As a kid, I wanted Sky Lynx so bad. Not because of the character but because he was a robot dinosaur space shuttle, which was most of my buttons in one toy. He's always been a favorite. Speaking of pushing my buttons... I want that Windblade!

    Speaking of magnificience... the shuttle mode has an 80s NASA logo and orbiter name painted on it. Sky Lynx transforms into the STS Magnificience.

    Yeah, they missed that trend by a decade. They shoulda gone with twelve-year-olds in their underwear to get anime fans when Shadow Chronicles came out. ... So Robotech did one thing right.

    Awww, be fair. It isn't awful because of any political agenda. It is awful because it is written and illustrated by the cheapest "talents" available. ... Or possibly just because it is Robotech.

    Sorta somewhere inbetween, really. Attempts at inclusiveness/diversity/whatever tended to be rather blatant, with the cast becoming a checklist. But the writing wasn't equally hamhanded. Arguably, the diversity was only superficial, as the writing didn't reflect the implied backgrounds of the casting. But it is also arguable that they were all written as just people, rather than "the black one", "the female one", and "the mexican one". (Unarguably, Power Rangers wasn't thinking AT ALL when they made the black kid the Black Ranger and the asian kid the Yellow Ranger.)

    Let it lie fallow and never come back at all. I'm becoming more certain with every sequel and remake that turns up that the greatest honor that can be bestowed upon a beloved show is letting it die without flogging it for every cent it is worth, each new installment increasingly caricature-ish and tone-deaf, less aware of what made the original great in the first place.

    Stop being such a lying Macross purist. Harmony Gold OWNS Macross, and can do whatever they want with it. The only reason the live-action movie hasn't already come out and made BILLIONS is that they refuse to be responsible for a mediocre film, even if it would sell well. They're waiting for a script and director that can actually do the saga justice. Big West has to license Macross from HG to make their low-budget, creatively-bankrupt cashgrab sequels. Pity they lack the integrity and passion that Harmony Gold carries.

    Honestly, if they didn't see a problem with Bumblebee 2, I'm pretty sure they're going to push forward with Arcee. At least she's not a complete mess in both modes, and the backpack is on a character that is SUPPOSED to have one. And she's a new MP instead of a redesign of a previously-visited character(a character with notoriously poor reputation in the line, at that). Hmmm... I wonder if MPRC wasn't rushed in after TakaraTomy saw a bunch of legally-distinct converting robots that turned into pink cars come out and sell well. She doesn't really align with the current state of the line(not season one), and she doesn't show the attention to detail one would expect from the current MP line's humanoid modes(which are all designed to look EXACTLY like the cartoon from a specific angle). I think they decided she was a "now or never" option, and banged something together to get some of that sweet sweet Arcee money before the well dried up.

    Big Firebird's Nicee or GTFO. I am a man with some specific interests, and everyone's just gonna have to deal with it. In all seriousness, Takara has a distinct advantage in vehicle mode since their designers are leaning hard into the "alt mode is a cocoon around the humanoid mode" approach. Once you remove the need for the vehicle parts to even be a part of the robot(and just throw them all into a giant backpack), it makes life a lot easier. Doubly so for a character like Arcee, who was designed for animation instead of based on an existing toy.

    Not until after Optimus 3 white repaint, Optimus 3 black repaint, a couple of Optimus 3 licensed tie-in repaints, and the first edition of the Optimus 4 mold.

    Damning with faint praise, that is. But yeah, it is nice to see a version of THE Enterprise that's a little more detailed than a 60s TV model.

    Starfleet has an overabundance of tailors, and they gotta do somethin'. Apparently "radically redesign the uniform on an annual basis so no one's ever wearing the same outfit twice" is how they keep busy.

    As I recall, it was usually more along the lines of "lying Macross purist". In that we were fabricating tales of what Macross was doing and how bad Robotech, internationally renowned epic saga, was performing. I mean, the Robotechies were claiming the creators of Macross preferred the RT take on things and were steering their own franchise in that direction("ripping off Robotech"), and somehow WE were the liars.
