Protects them from canopy fragments?

It's not logical for UN Spacey to operate VF-0s, though,a s VF-0s can't operate in space. It'd be like the UN Army operating the Prometheus, which is a boat and incapable of operating on land. UN Spacey only got the Prometheus by default. After the hyperspace accident, the Prometheus was in deep space, with no real hope of making it back to water(though it did, miraculously enough). Let Spacey have it. They can at least scavenge the VFs.
-
Macross Zero is UN Spacey?
-
It stands to reason that whatever VFs are equipped with was also applied to the destroid line. ... Well, the first destroids may've been built before the shielding was developed/reverse-engineered, but later destroids would have it.

The VF-0 IS NOT space worthy. Jet engines operate by burning fuel. Burning fuel requires air. There is no air in space. Hence, a VF-0 in space isn't going anywhere. It stands to reason that a vehicle incapable of operating in space wasn't built with space in consideration.

Hmm, thats interesting. Although I beleive (I'm going out on a limb here) that time dilation and such stuff doesn't really get noticeable until you get up to velociites like .75 c and higher. I think red shift/blue shift only begins to occur at .5 c or higher. Also, as I understand relativistic travel (going out on another limb...it fun out here), time dilation doesn't take place until the return trip. People on Earth age the same as people in space as long as the people in space are moving away from the Earth. The moment you start going back, then time dilation and relativity become a pain. However, since the Macross didn't actually travel relativistically away from Earth (they used the Space Fold), I'm not sure if that theory applies. Ack, I'm way out of my league with this one Still, maybe the speed might be high enough to do something to Max. I'm not that sure. Like I said, I assume ages are calculated relative to the person. If max is 50, it's 50 Max-years, not 50 Earth-years. And time dilation works no matter what direction you travel. As long as you're moving, the flow of time's changing. Dunno the dilation rates, though.

I would assume that's 50-60 relative to Max. Seriously, what's wrong with medical advances?

Oh, so that's what they were talking about when they were waffling on about energy transfer? But do we really know how many centimetres of steel would equal the overtechnology armour? If I recall, they said it gave the VF-0 armor equivalent to a conventional battletank. I assume they're using Abrams'class vehicles, and that they mean at the thickest point(which is a foot of various layered materials). Like I said, I assume there's still destroids in service, you just don't see them because they have too low of an LCF for front-line animated action. (LCF = look cool factor)

You say that like it's a bad thing. I was just commenting that the Bandai 1/55 release isn't the only one now to have a black heatshield. The canon color is red (as seen in Yamato's 1/48 Hikaru 1S Pics), whenever it's black in the animation is it supposably in "shadow". Anyway, I think both colors look great on Hikaru's 1S. I know. I've just always felt the red heatshield didn't look right. I can't say it's because it's colored, since I like Max's blue heatshield. And I can't say it's too much red, since I LOVE Millia's VF-1.

Or they just wanted something cheap to offset the AI development costs. Or something cheap in general so that they could mass produce them. Not only are the construction costs of the Valks a consideration, but so are the costs of training and paying a fleet of pilots. The Ghost probably killed a couple of birds with one stone. Well, they forged ahead with the VF-19, so I guess they decided price wasn't all it was cracked up to be. ... Maybe they decided that the Ghost could pull so many more Gs than a piloted vehicle that the extra GERWALK and battroid components only served to restrict the performance of the fighter mode, and they'd make AI destroids later to fill the line out.

No prob. PSXeven won me over when I realized it didn't automatically hit continue on DYRL. And it lets you reconfigure plugins without restarting the program first(never mind it crashes afterwards half the time).

Oh yeah... EmuLoader's stubborn refusal to generate custom settings is something I tend to forget, because I usually open notepad and make gamename.ini's if I want 'em. For windowing the game... Hold alt and press enter. REpeat to take it back to fullscreen. As far as the ROM images go... Try www.mame.dk (though you have to register to download). If that's not your cup o' tea... www.planetemu.net Those are the 2 sites I use for MAME ROM images(actually, I use Planetemu for darn near everything, but I really like mame.dk's database)

That's a lot of guns in the Daedalus. 6 monsters unloading everything at one target... Ya almost feel sorry for the zentradi.

I think we just don't SEE destroids later. We know at the very least they made the VB-6, which was a variable Monster(I hate it, but it's canon). Offers the speedy delivery advantages of an airplane(Supersonic no less. I'm gonna hurl.), while maintaining the awesome firepower of a Monster(when on the ground, since the cannons are used as part of the propulsion system in airplane mode).

From Macross Compendium: 2005 ... August Withdrawal from Mars Base led by Harry Miler. September The third Oberth class space destroyer Tsiolkovsky is hijacked by the Anti-United Nations Military Organization. September 8 1800: The return fleet from Mars is destroyed with 3055 United Nations forces personnel onboard by this [aforementioned] destroyer's attack. September 10 Official announcement of the Mars return fleet's destruction by the United Nations Military Headquarters. And I don't think Robotech altered the timeline enough for Mars Base to be "destroyed" by Zentradi. I'm pretty sure it was still "destroyed" before the Zentradi made it to the solar system. (we have to do the "destroyed" bit, because the base was intact)

Hmmm... Now that you mention it, the YF-21's battroid DID kind of suck on the ground.
-
And the YF-21/VF-22, which is one of the few where battroid mode isn't just airplane origami. They worked hard on making a good battroid in that mech.
-
A VF would be lousy at replacing a tank. (That's what destroids are for.) But what it WOULD be good at is... A. hauling ass on wide open flat spaces in GERWALK mode. Let's be honest, a GERWALK's gonna blow by an Abrams like it's standing still. And I DARE you to find a tank with limited flight capability. Let the tank/destroid do it's job while the GERWALK darts around covering it. And ... B. Urban combat. Tanks SUCK at urban combat. They aren't maneuverable enough. But battroids don't suck. They can dart around corners like nothing, crouch behind rubble, et cetera. Only SOME destroids(the Spartan and... the Spartan) are really built for urban combat. A group of VFs can be deployed to a distant area faster than a group of Spartans, though this advantage is balanced by the reduced durability. The GBP-1S can be used on local VFs to essentially convert them into a destroid should the need arise, giving you a mech with a nice mix of the Spartan's agility and the Phalanx's missile capacity(in fact, I'd be suprised if a destroid based on the GBP-1S design wasn't made later). GERWALK mode CAN be useful in urban combat, but only if the area's clean enough. ... Did I mention that VFs are cool?

Huh? The ski mask? Errr, I was... ummm... *runs*

I guess I downloaded that plugin then. Lemme check... http://www.ngemu.com/psx/plugins.php?cat=1...=win32&type=pad Pick a plugin. The only one I've used signifigantly is Segu's, and I admit it's not the flashiest. And while it shouldn't affect the VF-X series, it lacks rapid-fire buttons, which I think some other plugins have.

What's a set of trooper armor run these days, anyhow. It's been awhile since I've looked into this stuff. I still need a full set of Clone/Stormtrooper armor for display in the den. Someday, anyway..... Yeah, I was looking into a TIE outfit a bit through google. Not cheap And I'm afraid it'd lable me a loser... but wouldn't it be cool if I put Imperial Navy insignia on my car and drove around in a TIE uniform? Vostok 7 That's a better plan than I ever got. I got stuck at stealing a Mercury Cougar logo and painting it red and black, for that authentic Thundercats look. ... C'mon, it's perfect for the job.

But the poll works so much better this way... I have to say it's because the multi-mode setup made it a very useful general-purpose vehicle. Sure it was a fighter plane, but look at what else it did. GERWALK especially was a rather unique capability. Sort of like a tank on meth. Anyways, it revolutionized warfare. You no longer have to claim air superiority before starting the ground war, because air and ground battles can be fought with the same vehicle. At the very least, you can start the ground war before the destroids get marched in. ... And it's cool.
