Actually, it was Musashi that got killed. Again.* (*Musashi was killed at least once in the original series and on nearly every Getter Robo theatrical feature.) Does anyone besides me ever feel sorry for those kinds of people? It's bad enough they have to die once, but to do it over and over and over again...

In atmosphere, perhaps. In space they'd quickly die as the gas in their bodies (oxygen/nitrogen) rapidly expands and forms bubbles, boils away, and turns them into an agonizing hideous and bloody mess. No kidding. They'd be dead long before asphyxiation had a chance to set in. And no, despite popular miconception, people's bodies don't explode in a vacuum - it'd probably be a quicker and less painful death if they did, though. This is essentially what happens to deep sea divers who surface too quickly, though on a much more extreme end of the spectrum. The entire flight suit would have to be completely sealed and pressurized in order to survive if the cockpit depressurized in space. Aren't we talking about the VF-0 here? A similar problem would apply at very high altitudes, though the VF-0 isn't capable of operating near that high.

Virgin Road is my arch-nemesis. Never before have I so desperately wanted to skip an episode that I like. I'm torn between the writing and the animation.

Having dragged my old Transformers out recently, I have to say one thing... I resent plastic. When I was a kid, a toy could double as a weapon in a pinch. Just run up and bash someone in the head with a nice chunk of Yellow Lion. Plastic took over completely from die-cast and the end result is modern toys fail during normal usage. And you can just forget throwing them at someone. Sure my old GoBot space shuttle has a big garish gray metal area where the windshield was, but when I imagine that damage across a white plastic nosepiece with a windshield sticker, it doesn't look that bad. And white paint on diecast doesn't turn yellow like white plastic can. Tragically, the arms and feet were made of a plastic rather susceptible to yellowing(though the wings and tail are still white, the scratches across them detract from the aesthetic value somewhat).

HAHA! ... I always wonder if maybe I should've given Beast Wars a chance. I never watched it because the idea of Transformers without origami cars apalled me. The Hasbro Version had the same amount of Die Cast as the original. The box screamed out that. The Korean oversized version however was all plastic down to the wheels. I can confirm that, as I own a G2 Prime. Just in case someone argues the point.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? http://www.atariprotos.com/5200/software/g...ns/gremlins.htm A tale of treachery, tragedy, and ultimately of triumph. Also incredibly mind-numbingly stupid.

Indeed the S in UNS Air Force and UNS Marine Corps stands for Spacy. Head... hurts... Logic... bad...

Suuuure that's what you meant... -
I think it was study and learn, then dispose of. That particular story detail was never very clear. And I've never actually seen DYRL. *runs and hides* Note that at the time of this episode, the information is recently discovered from Exedol's perspective. (But Global seems to know a lot of it already. Has he had access to the top-secret discoveries from the AFOS in Macross Zero?) Also note that this summary implies an origin for the Supervision Army which is slightly different from the (presumably Macross 7 derived) information in the Compendium. That is, it suggests the Zentradi and the Supervision Army were produced by opposite sides in the PC's civil war and have essentially continued that war. But the summary can also be construed as meaning that Zentradi-type giants were created in the civil war and that (consistent with the Compendium) some of the giants were incorporated in the Supervision Army when the Protodevlin appeared. I don't know if these giants were from one side or both. It may even be possible to further reconcile the accounts by positing that the Supervison Army was originally the army of one side in the PC civil war--the side that developed the Evil series of giant humanoids. When the majority of that side was possessed by the Protodeviln, "Supervision Army" became synonomous with the forces controlled by the Protodeviln. In any case, at the time of SW1, Bodolza seems to know more about the Protoculture than anyone else, yet he is still quite ignorant. He certainly isn't loyal to the Protoculture at all. The Chronology has this: Without knowing specific ages, I would assume every zentradi now alive was born some time after 380,000 BC. Exedol(one of the older zentradi if my impressions are correct) speaks of reaction weaponry much the same way we would the Excalibur. It's a legendary weapon from a tale that's more myth than reality. I got the impression he'd never actually SEEN a reaction warhead before they entered the Sol system, and wasn't even really convinded they had ever existed. Same for Britai. They've probably never seen the protoculture, and are reliant upon whatever historical records thy have. Records that seem to have been lost or signifigantly altered during the ages. The former prime directive about not interfering with the protoculture is now just remembered as the moral of an old legend stating to "leave the worlds of the miclones alone." A fable that the zentradi don't really take very seriously, apparently. Exedol mentioned it, but it was never really considered. Also, if Bodolzaa's behavior is typical among the Zentradi, information about the protoculture isn't shared very widely. He told Britai and Exedol a very little bit about them, with the understanding that it would go no farther. And he only told them because it was directly relevant to their mission. Assuming this is standard practice across the zentradi armed forces, one can only guess at how much information has been lost because high-ranking zentradi took it to their graves. Furthermore, all the really good info is likely stopped at ranks that make Bodolzaa look like a common grunt. Even if it isn't common practice, the zentradi we know don't know jack, because Bodolzaa ran his fleet that way, and his computer's database and his archivist(s) were destroyed when we took his ship out. The possible exception is troops on the captured factory satellite, but they were a very limited force to begin with. Their mission was simple: protect the factory. It didn't require much data of any sort(IF approaching vessel != zentradi THEN blow the crap out of it), so they likely weren't hauling an archivist around, or a historical database. As a side note, it's scary how much information seemed to reside solely in the heads of archivists.

Tech support. We can repair vehicles. Indeed, we can actually design new vehicles. And we have the legendary thermonuclear reaction weaponry. We can fusion bomb the mother-sniffers. They want this capability SO BAD. They just didn't understand the concept of entering into an alliance with.

Meh. Adam West will always be Batman to me. "Quick, Robin! Use my Bat-Shark Repellant Spray!" Darn skippy! The REAL first Batman movie!

Has anybody seen this version of lodoss war
JB0 replied to stram8777's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
If you like generic fantasy like Dragon Lance, then you'll like Lodoss. Personally, I never cared for it. The animation isn't bad, at least in the OVAs. The OVAs do suffer from the fact that they had to cut a lot of the story out to fit it into 13 episodes. Which is part of where Chronicles takes flak. It doesn't properly mesh with the OVA, and people that don't know the OVA is based on something else anywyas get all irate about the changes. -

I think I have a Transformer that does that. -
To be fair, they have a JOB over there. They essentially ARE rent-a-cops over there. Honestly, just because someone's a moderator on a message board doesn't mean they don't disagree with some of the rules on that board.
-
Well you'd develop an inferiority complex too if millions of children around the world were writing you on a daily basis saying "You suck Rodimus. We want Optimus back."
-
A what? Firing mechanism. Surely you remember the spring-loaded projectile launchers on toys of old.
-
Dang! I recognize the other robot, but I can't place it right now.
-
EAT RAILGUN, YOU FILTHY GNOME!
-
So that as soon as your set nears completion you ahve to buy them all over again in a larger scale or an enhanced version?
-
Well... It's not bright enough. I think all Transformers should have a supernova button that sets off a really big flash and blows the toy apart. Preferably in a way that it's reassemblable afterwards...
-
I'm suprised you didn't snap and go on a killing spree of some sort.

And remote-control! Perfect foil for Gundam's RC Zaku, as well as a pet terrorism instrument..

The 3rd Season Premiere of Enterprise is tonight!
JB0 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
C'mon. Surely you saw Voyager. I'm really hoping this season goes over well. I REALLY don't want to see the franchise die. And at the same time, I'm dreading serialized Star Trek. ... But I swear, if they do another pon'far episode I'm going to hurt someone. -
*jaw drops* It's Prime! With hip joints! HIP JOINTS! ... Yes, I saw the prototype shots. But who can get excited over an off-white Optimus(besides Ultra Magnus fans)? Dang, it's been ages since I've messed with a Transformer at all and I want this one SO BAD!!!!
