  1. Actually, that's basically what they do in Macross. That's why in fighter mode, for most VFs, the head lasers point behind the aircraft. Well, that's not really serving to confuse IR sensors, is it? I suppose the explosions from the missiles could serve as flares to divert other missiles...
  2. I thought it was radar-absorbent paint. Nope. From what I read, an IR absorbent paint developed by Boeing, who was one of Lockheed's partners during that competiton. Okay, so it's true that some of the solutions used to reduce IR signature wouldn't apply to a valk in space, but my point is still valid. If the UN wants to make stealth a focus in their next-gen variable fighters, they're going to develop technologies to make stealth work. And with everything else that they've done with overtechnology, it's feasible to believe that they used OT to reduce the IR signatures of fighters like the VF-17 and the VF-22. But it has to be reduced a LOT farther to be even marginally effective. I'm leaning towards active IR countermeasures. Flares, mainly. Though a good low-power laser can blind a missile, why bother when it can be vaporized by a higher power one?
  3. I'm the guy that wants the blue XBox, not the pillow that comes with it. I can't decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing.
  4. That goes without saying I would imagine. However......I would think that Overtechnology would give man the answer to the super-conductor and that would significantly reduce the heat signature. The heat's still got to go somewhere. Most of it straight out the back of the plane. There's really no way around it that I can see, aside from flooding enemy IR sensors with a bigger heat source. But you're talking about the same sort of challenges that today's modern stealth aircraft face. Not really. Modern aircraft don't have tiny stars packed into their engines. I thought it was radar-absorbent paint. Not a problem in space, where heat comes from the inside, not the outside. Leading edge heat is from atmospheric friction. By mixing it into the outside air. There's no outside air to mix with in space. Whatever shape your exhaust plume is, it's still a bright white spot in a pitch black background. Sure it dissipates, but the diffrence in temperatures is still massive.
  5. Maybe because it's hard to find. I spent three hours today looking for it. Drove to best Buy in Porter Ranch - didn't have it. Went to 20/20 Video in Van Nuys - didn't have it. Went to Circuit City in North Hollywood - didn't have it. Then I finally found it at Best Buy in Burbank. Can't be harder to find than "The Gods Must Be Crazy." Which has never been released on DVD near as I can tell. Though a family member sighted it on shelves ONCE, neglected to get it, and never saw it again.
  6. And didn't they knock skyscrapers over in the 1st episode of the TV series? ALIENS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR 9/11! THE TERRORISTS ARE A COVERUP!

  8. Well, you still have a lot of stuff coming out the engines and verniers. Besides, what about non-visible wavelengths? They'll show up like a lit candle in IR.
  9. You're welcome.
  10. WinSPC is pretty outdated. SNES sound emulation has gotten MASSIVELY better since '98. SNESAmp is a much better choice for accuracy.
  11. It lacks the greatest Tenchi Muyo! series of all. Why anyone would buy a set that doesn't have Pretty Sammy is beyond me.
  12. With all the drama and over-acting of a bad soap opera throughout the discussions, too.
  13. The between-level cut is recycled too. In a very nice touch, they used the commerical break tune from the TV show.
  14. This IS hg we're talking about... no. Hg invested money in macross and the other showes. they had 2 choices 1: si tont he sereis unitl laws changed and loose alot of money 2: come out with robotech and not go broke Hell if it was up to most people. they woudl do somthign similar. hg was not some big million dolalr compnay. people need money to live and keep their company alive. consider that. the treu culprite is the people who amde the 65 ep rule and for evel for forcing roboptech titel. There were no laws involved in keeping Macross & company off-air in unaltered condition. HG wanted syndication, which requires a longer run to be viable than a normal show that airs once a week on a major network(which was the other option open to them). They felt that syndicating the programs would bring them more money than licensing them to one network, so they raped them. Robotech was created so HG could make as much money as they thought was possible. We'll never know if that was an accurate assessment of the economy, though.
  15. Nto if I report YOU for going off-topic first!
  16. [Fanboy Rant] Only if the headlasers work! [/Fanboy Rant] Will you settle for the AnimeFriend version? I think there's room to mount some machine guns in there.
  17. Hikaru in the TV series. Intro sequence, and Burst Point. The button that lowers the helmet visor has forever been labelled in my mind as the "bad-ass mode switch".
  18. I remember this when it was new. Which was like 3 years ago. Makes better Megaman X names than it does Metal Gear names. http://www.solidsharkey.com/mgsname.html is another one(purely random, too). IT's a lot more fun, just for the sheer insanity it can come up with. Some of my better ones... Name-based: J B gets me Anonymous Baboon. My real name gets me Informer Camel. Random... Omni-buffalo. Pump-Action Cricket. Firepower Jackass. Dung Beetle. Erect Gnat.
  19. Hikaru drove a Spartan in the episode where he blew off Misa to drink with Minmay. *joins the crowd*
  20. But that's part of the charm. Macross has a vaguely spoofish air about it, and it really shows in some parts. I LOVE the over-dramatic tone they put on the next episode previews. "Next time On Super Dimensional Fortress Macross... <really cool reverb effect> A DREAM SEQUENCE!!!!!!</really cool reverb effect> I can't stand the narrator's voice in SDF. I tolerate the narrator, largely because the next episode previews make me laugh. ME TOO!
  21. The Crescens wasn't the hero's mech. It was a late addition to the party, and belonged to the hero's kid, if I recall(haven't played Xenogears in ages, disk 2 makes me too sad). There was ONE episode of Voltron/Golion where the hero mech was armless. It was the single most incredibly retarded stunt in the entire series, though.
  22. Ya know, 1/48 IS too big. But 1/60 is just right for those larger thigns, like the SDF-1.
  23. Not very familiar with Macs. If it were an IBM-compatible, I'd bet the soundcard didn't have an amp, but Apple would have to be cheap beyond words to not put an onboard amp on a machine that expensive.

  25. Yes We WANT TO KNOW! You should know what is left for the imagination is allways worst than the real thing... Im starting to have nasty toughts about what you do! Yes. Very bad to leave it to the imagination.
