  1. BIG NAVI HYPE! I am glad to see AMD's targetting the top end this time.
  2. Isn't that just a paler version of the last Counter/Punch? Was hoping it would at least be a partial redesign, like maybe one with ankles. Color me disappointed.
  3. And I've refrained from grumbling about the robot mode*, because I DO see them putting a lot of effort into achieving a goal there and recognize it is the bot mode a lot of people want. It's not my Starscream, but it is definitely someone's Starscream. The jet is just sad though. It isn't toy-accurate, toon-accurate, or real world-accurate, and it seems to be purely due to lack of care. *Except for the double-canopy. I totally laughed at that. The backpack's completely unnecessary, but so much better than I expected that I'm actually giving TakaraTomy points for it.
  4. They could all combine into a Picard-Voltron, with a backbone made of Picards! I'm sorry, I'll see myself out.
  5. We can ignore multiple things. I'm cool with ignoring Threshold and Spock's Brain too, while we're cleaning up.
  6. Minmay actually acts like a human being, though. Basara kinda... doesn't? She also wasn't treated as an unstoppable force of nature in either version of her story. She was hyped up after-the-fact. Basara's treated as something special from the word go.
  7. I just want to point out that, regardless of the actual nature of his resurrection, the idea that Data is dead-dead for reals flies in the face of the final scenes of Nemesis, which strongly imply Data's ALREADY starting to reawaken in B4's body(despite that not making sense because of how primitive B4 is). And I'm pretty sure he was the cast member chosen to die in Nemesis precisely BECAUSE it was easy to justify resurrecting him in the next movie. A movie which obviously didn't happen, because Nemesis was a dumpster fire and I'd be happy with future Trek just ignoring it entirely.
  8. Basara is, in many ways, the shows biggest problem. He's unrelatable, steals the spotlight from people with interesting character arcs going on, and is generally more of a force of nature than an actual character. ... But he sings really good, so all is forgiven. BOMBA!!!!
  9. Man, I miss my Classics et al Jazz. He was on a coffee table for Reasons(tm), and a then-new large puppy decided Jazz looked highly mouthable. She cleaved him in twain, in what I assume was a desire to re-enact his big scene in Bayformers. Dog's lucky we'd already named her, or she'd be Megatron now. (She got Animated Blackarachnia at the same time. I had been unaware she was a chewer until that day.)
  10. I actually meant the armature hanging the null rays under the wings that lets them move to the arms without detaching. Though I think this toy would look better with a fake canopy hanging off the bottom than with the big plate laying on top of it. It is wildly obvious there's an entire robot torso down there, why hide just a tiny bit of it?
  11. The armature is just... it is a move I've hated in several toys. I've ranted about scorpion-tails before. I'd say this is a particularly ugly one, but... it isn't the biggest problem with the jet's underside. There's no meaningful diffrence between a part that detaches and reattaches vs one hanging off a scorpion-tail between attachment points, but it seems a lot of people think it is a huge improvement*. I think at this point I will legit knock the pins out and remove the armature entirely on any future toys I get with one. I wasn't calling out anyone on TFW, I don't actually go there. This board's couple'a threads is enough Transformer talk for me. *The funniest was Masterpiece Shockwave, mostly because TakaraTomy called it "perfect transformation". The cartoon Shockwave's barrel is a Prime's Trailer situation and it "canonically" goes flying off over the horizon just like the original toy. I definitely appreciated that the barrel was a part of the robot mode, though.
  12. What bothers me about it is that I KNOW TakaraTomy can do better. I've SEEN them do better. I don't know what is going on with them these days, but it makes me sad. Unpopular opinion: the null-ray armatures are hideous, and detaching the guns from the wings and reattaching them to the arms is a WAY better solution. Partswapping is fine, as long as the parts actually have a place in both modes.
  13. I blew my mom's mind by describing him as a Micheal Jackson collaborator. She was just "their styles are so diffrent, what could they possibly collaborate on". Rock in peace, Van Halen.
  14. You're not wrong. Much like how Blitzwing turns into some kinda biplane-jet instead of a proper Mig, an Astrotrain that turned into an accurate space shuttle would actually be weird(as would one without rocket nozzles sticking out the back of the train). ... I don't have to be happy about it, though. Okay, THAT is cool as heck.
  15. Credit where due, that's a lot lower than I was expecting. My money was on 350.
  16. It is how they should've been to start with, and I'm glad they made the change.
  17. Seriously. An XB-70 would give them a place to store parts AND make him match the rest of the team, while still retaining the general lines of plane mode.
  18. Honestly, at this point the thread is less "what current anime are you watching" and more "what anime are you currently watching"
  19. At least with Silverbolt they have an excuse. A Concorde's little more than a pencil with wings. Some of the OTHER hang-gliding robots that've come out over the years have no such excuse.
  20. Because the goal is a toon-accurate bot when looked at from one specific angle, and a backpack full of random parts from any other angle.
