Early PS2s are really bad about it. The promised firmware updates never materialized because Sony doesn't trust their customers to leave the system on when it says "Do not turn off while updating or you will FUBAR your PS2 BIOS making the system totally unusable!" so the only way to update for some time was buy a new deck. Now you can buy the remote control. It installs new drivers on to your memory card, just like the original japanese release. Funny how they made the BIOS flashable so they wouldn't have to do that, isn't it?

I still maintain it was the other way around. The DVD had already come into it's own by the time the PS2 launched. The players had reached the <100$ range. Every store around carried the disks. I think DVD helped the PS2 more than the PS2 helped DVD. The problem with that is that BluRay has no established infrastructure. It is only a short life relative to VHS and CDAudio. Remember, it was rolled out in 1997. And VHS was WAY past its prime when DVD came out. There's really no good reason for it to have won over Beta. And I can only assume that component costs kept laserdisk from catching on. Ummm... why? Getting one player doesn't mean you have to chuck the other. Iv'e got 2 VCRs in my house, and a healthy selection of VHS tapes. For the resolutions being used, yes. But the current resolution was selected explicitily to match the capabilities of NTSC televisions. And even then, you can still occasionally see problems(a very visible example is fine text in credits. I've seen characters reduced to small funny-shaded squares because there weren't enough pixels available to render them). Digital TV is putting DVD behind early.

At least you didn't get Luke after that...

yup... a mace. now I agree, cyclones are cooler than alphas... It took you that long to figure out? Nothing tops powered armor on the cool scale except transforming powered armor .

Heh. Yah, as far as raw downloads and general emu news goes, they're still number one. Shame no one ever set up an Althena's Realm to compete.

what can I say, please send pic this way too Send the pic this way three. you buncha perverts!!..... Now you got me all curious on what they look like!!! Add me to that pervert list!!! This why I feel at home here at MW. We're a bunch of pervs. I'd like a PM too please. As for the SDF pic....it looks sort of grainy. Is it because it was resized or is it from a game like others have said? Looks more to me like it was run through a "watercolor" filter on an image editor.

I've just gotta say "Congratulations!" to you, 'cause I know that was the way I felt when I first got my PS2 modded. But if for nothing else, just like Mike and myself, this should stand as a notice to all of you PS2 gamers out there: GET YOUR PS2 MODDED! Its worth the price, in my opinion, if only to play Macross! And SNES-Station. And PGEN. The old NES emulator for PSX works too. What are those? And where do you get them? I had no idea there was a nes/snes emu for the PS1/2. http://www.zophar.net/consoles/consoles.phtml

Hmmmm.....banning everybody that loves transformers, what a great idea Now why didn't I think of that first? Note, it can be dangerous to put ideas into Graham's head. OK, all TF fans form a line on the left and prepare to be processed Mwhahahahhaha. Graham I've known some people that would run around dropping "BANNED" as a custom title to further the joke. But as far as I know, none of them are here.

Some of the Microman Microchange guys didn't require parts removal. Like the Microbots, which eventually became Bumblebee and gang, for example. Or even the GunRobo line (exclude the silencer and stock from the deluxe Megatron type). Ah. My mistake then. ... But those all sucked.

That's funny. What are you doing reading a Gundam thread for? Looks like you don't let go of a chance to bash Gundam for all it's worth. You don't like it. We get it. You don't have to rain on our parade. It's his and Shawn's site. He can ban you for all he cares. Which raises an interesting point. Were I in a position of power, I would feel obligated to look at the majority of threads. Especially highly active ones such as this has proven to be.

I haerd people say that Hikaru needed to be a man, but I never knew they meant it LITERALLY... -
Favorite bug: The AI neglecting to come online when you came in line with it. Had some people I emptied a shotgun point blank on. Right between the eyes. They flinched, stood up, ran back to their starting point, and resumed waiting for me to trip them. And BULLGUT RULES! Or would if it was even mildly accurate.

Yeah, the general public want more "cute" robots, so the cold-looking Kawamori one wasn't as popular. I remember speaking to a few people around the time it came out when I was in Tokyo one of the comments I got was that "it looks like the Terminator's dog". Pity. I thought it looked pretty awesome. Especially this photoshopped one, courtesyof Mechmaster:

Caught a burglar red-handed in my house!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
It had Isamu Dyson too, if I recall. And Major Kusanagi, but she didn't fly anything, so we don't care. Anyways, it was a fun game. And one of the few FPSes with an actual plot, as well as characters. ... I wonder how much time I logged on that game... I wish there was a story arc for if you flipped out and started killing people in level 2 and successfully repulsed the 3.2 metric buttloads of troops that subsequently stormed your butt, instead of just leaving you stranded with nothing to do but smash TV screens. I also wish that doors couldn't crush you to death when you opened them...

Just one. If Monolith's making another FPS, it needs to be Shogo 2. holy sh:t, i thought i was the only person who played that. That game kicked a$$ with its huge and agile mechs. A sequal would be great but its questionable about the publicity the first shogo got. From what I gather, it has a small but fiercely loyal fanbase, and Monolith is still getting regular requests for a sequel. It was also popular enough that it was the subject of a LithTech demo movie a while back. Had a guy wandering around a Shogo-style city, riding a Shogo-style subway, more wandering around the city, then getting stomped by an ... Ordog, I think it was. Spawned a fairly fierce bit of rumors flying for a little while.

LOL...that's actually a pretty good idea. Unfortunately, my present house doesn't have ceiling fans I remember my parents first house in HK in the mid-70s had ceiling fans and my elder sister and me had great fun putting toys on the fan blades, then turing on the fan and watching them fly accross the room Don't think my wife would agree to hanging toys from the ceiling though . Also, I'd probably be worried about the string breaking and the toys falling on baby. A 1/55 falling on to the head of a 7 week old baby from a height of 8 or 9 feet would probably not be good for babies health. Graham Install fans for just that purpose! Yah. Falling VFs WOULd be a hazard...

That's what string is for! Hang 'em from the ceiling! Tie 'em to the fan! May all your guests walk under a dogfight as they enter!

You modern gamers and your REASONS... When I was a kid, we shot robots for no reason whatsoever. And they shot us. Heck, we shot space rocks for no reason. We even shot abstract geometric shapes. Uphill through the boiling snow no less. And we were HAPPY!

They could always make it entirely out of anodized aluminum parts. Screw plastic. ALL METAL! I admit it, I love my metal. A toy isn't a toy if it can't double as a melee weapon.

Just throw it in the pile of non-canon games along with 2036, Eternal Love Song, ETC. It's interesting how closely it parallels some of the in-continuity development, though.

I dont know a whole lot about corrective eyeware, so this may be off, but what if he was farsighted? Then he'd have a problem.

As I understand things, no. And the odds of a remaster happening aren't very good. If HG and Big West ever work out their diffrences(hahaha) then they may import the remaster for use in a japanese release, but as-is...
