Dairugger XV aka (Vehicle) Voltron Kikoukantai.
JB0 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I recently threw most of my Matchbox one away. Kept the car-feet and chest fighter, since they were in good shape. It came with no fists and sword(I think we got a return someone else had sent back after losing the parts...). And most of the fasteners broke pretty fast, making for a Voltron that had no hands and fell apart if you looked at it funny, on the rare occasions you could get it together before everything fell off. And the helicopter blades lost the metallic paint, then broke off. Then the core chest unit fell off a shelf and split in 2. I was unamused. -
But electrical cars aren't cleaner. They just change where the pollution comes from. A rise in electrical cars will mean more electirical plants to meet the surge in electricity demand. And as lobbyists have made nuclear plants economically unfeasable, they will be burning fossil fuels. Most often coal. They are NOT clean power sources. Add to this the massive amount of batteries electrical cars need, which are disgusting devices when disposed of, and electrical cars really aren't worth it. There's also serious range problems with them currently. I say use hybrid cars. They're a nice compromise position.

*shrugs* Maybe the people that survived Space War 1 were cynical and just assumed a second one would follow. Is that the answer? I doubt there IS an official answer.

Umm, yah. No real surprise given they want to make a live-action movie out of the license. The only mildly surprising thing is that Spielberg is involved. I'm tempted to mail him a few copies of Land Before Time, to remind him that he CAN work in animation.

Don't play many games?

No, I'm of the opinion that he's totally nuts. That, or he's suffering from Herbertism. Make one fantiastic product, then kill the line with subsequent attempts at duplicating your success. The Patriots of MGS2 just really killed the whole franchise for me. MGS2 took the great parts of MGS and bent them to such absurd levels that there was no way I could really enjoy the story that much. The gameplay, on the other hand, was nothing short of amazing. Should I point out that MGS1 was attempting to recapture the success of a prior product? It's a direct sequel to Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake on the MSX computer, and most of it's amazing revolutionary gameplay ideas were implemented ages ago there. And of course, it added some silly bits, like making an army of genetically engineered super soldiers that can't see 2 feet in front of them, telepaths that read memory cards and controller ports, etc.

And there are people in hell who want ice water, but some things just aren't gonna happen I see this one falling through the floor somehow. I'm HG is planning on doing this, they even got the character designer to do a cover for their robotech comic... how well it will be received is another question. If I recall, they intentionally involved Tatsunoko heavily in development precisely SO they could make a valid MOSPEADA sequel.

I thought copyright was up for debate, but distribution right wasn't.

ONLY in ePSXe. Well, I dunno. I got a friend to burn a CD full of different types of PS emulators and ePSXe was the only one the game would even load properly on. The others rendered the damn thing unplayable, or had a problem with recognising my joypad.. or SOMETHING. There's always something. Now I'm in Japan again but I didn't bring the games back with me, grrr... What plugins were they using, and what versions? I'm a big proponent of downloading and trying them yourself.

Alas, we aren't considered owners. We signed some stupid UN treaty to suck the life out of the space race that said no one could claim any part of space. THAT is why we have no moon bases, no space colonies up, no whatever. Once we ceded our right to claim everything out there, we ceased caring aside from "Haha, we did it before the filthy commies."

Even if it were for National security reasons? Nothing is worth the loss of a man's satellite TV.

Oddly enough, I think I SAW that ad on TV here. -

2-way hip joints would be nice. Remember, teh Bandai valks can't move their legs in or out, just forward and back. Tehy're great toys, durability-wise. But they have all the posability of a rock.

He's Fighting Mad!!! Actually, I'd have to disagree with him though- Most people simply call them ROMs now, whether or not it's technically accurate. It has become a catch all term for game files. I will resist it to my dying breath! Besides, we already had "warez" to cover that.

Well, the BBC was trying to resurrect the series for another run. Hence the pilot movie, with the new doctor. And they wanted to have it running in the US at the same time. Hence the Fox airing(if I recall, Fox was going to be co-developing it). But as I recall, the ratings weren't high enough for Fox to follow through with their part of the deal. THAT I don't know.

cd-rom? if its a iso format you can burn the image if its not im sure theres a converter somewhere to convert it to iso. A. CD-ROM and ROM are diffrent things. Lacking the CD- it means a microchip. B. You still can't download a CD-ROM, just a disk image. lol lets fight this out cuz i realy got nothing to do and im bored. rom... read only memory? its a real thinker *shrugs* It's along-standing gripe of mine. I've finally gotten over the need to verbally abuse everyone that uses ROM instead of ROM image, but I can't make myself let it fit disk images too.

2) The Varauta system is in the vicinity of the "center of the galaxy". It is also the area where Megaroad-01 is believed to have disappeared. But considering that the "center of the galaxy" is a huge area to cover and is vastly unexplored by humans, they could be anywhere or not even there. Yah. They could've just as easily fallen into a wormhole and come out in the Crab nebula.

It was immediatly before it. Robotech 2: The Sentinels was to deal with what happened to Rick Hunter and company after they left Earth aboard the SDF-3. It would've taken place concurently with the Southern Cross segment, actually, and ,unless I'm mistaken, ended with the beginning of the MOSPEADA portion.

ONLY in ePSXe. Sheesh, it's almost as bad as NESticle and NES games were.

Actually, it was a backhanded attack on ALL shows that do that, not just Macross Zero. Possibly the worst offender of this in my book is Star Trek. Every time they put out a new show, they get a new ship (which is perfectly understandable), but they also redesign almost everything else. Uniforms, shuttlepods, hallways, various rooms within the ships, etc. All for the sake of just being able to do that. That royally irritates me to no end. I mean, the ONLY consistant uniform seen in any Trek show is in the TOS movies. Otherwise, a uniform lasts only once per show (or even less, depending on how many times they redesign it). The same applies to the bridges, science labs, holodecks, shuttles... it never seems to end. And you're right about those nozzels looking pretty silly. But that's how the ship was designed in the original show, for whatever reason, and I'm really glad they're keeping it that way in the new show. Actually, Deep Space Nine started with the curent style of Next Gen uniforms(black with colored shoulder area, the inverse of the original Next Gen uniform). And Voyager started with the then-current DS9 uniforms(which were still black with coulored shoulders). And kept them through the whole series. Next Gen redesigned uniforms once. Likely because the colored suits were ugly. DS9 redesigned once, too, if I recall. When they started the Dominion War story arc, they introduced uniforms that were supposed to look more military. As for the technology facelifts... Yiou have to remember that the Voyager is something like a decade newer than the Enterprise D, AND built as more of a combat vessel than a flying science lab. It's quite entitled to a visual overhaul. DS9 wasn't even built by the Federation, so it's automatically exempt. And the Defiant was explicitly built as a Borg killer. Again, it's allowed to look diffrent than the Enterprise D. Voyager's diffrences from the Defiant can be covered by argiuing that the Defiant's design style didn't become standard because it was never introduced into proper service. But really, this is a series that can't even maintain continuity from one episode to the next, much less one series to the next. There's better things to pick on than the odd redesigns of sets and props to change the aesthetic.
