You will only notice the entire "Glowing head" feature on Rick's and Roy's heads (white plastic). I've seen photos of it happening on a Millia. Not that cameras capture the world as a human would see them, but it might depend on the individual toy owner.

I thought the Mac2 game was kinda weak. The timer was an un-needed feature and detracts heavily from the game. It was a pain in the ass, but it made sure you couldn't progress in the game by simply throwing in credits. Actually enforced that the player had soem sort of skill. Still though, hard as hell. But fun. And it beats continue points... I see what you're getting at. I tried to buy victory in Darius the other day. The continue feature cuts out on the last level. And RayForce/Crisis give you a bad ending if you continue. Dunno about Storm. Taito hates me.

How can anyone not care? I use a 32" Sony flat tube. It's got some image problems, but it beats the crap out of the other sets, which are cheap 25"s. Sure I'll use something else, but I vastly prefer the nice set. Bigger screen, sharper image, better sound(best set's the only one with a home theater setup, one of the other 2 is freaking mono), better experience. And it has component video coming in from the DVD player. The other 2 sets are composite input only(well, and RF. But who uses that?). Not even s-video. It's only an NTSC set, sadly. No cash to get an ATSC one yet.

I feel obliged to point out that the 1980 blast was as bad as it was primarily because it erupted on the side instead of out the top. If it'd gone straight up like it's supposed to, it would've been just a nifty postcard picture.

FAMICOM! Honestly, while I DO like the Famicom game, I have to second the vote for console DYRL. Also worth mentioning are Scrambled Valkyrie on the Super FamiCom, the DYRL arcade game, and the PCEngine's Macross 2036 . Not that they're winning any points for anime faithfulness, but they're dang fun games. ... Though of the 3, only Scrambled Valkyrie gives you free-form transformation.

Oh, get a changer. My DVD player takes 5 disks. If I can watch 5 disks in one sitting then something is very wrong.
