  1. It is how they should've been to start with, and I'm glad they made the change.
  2. Seriously. An XB-70 would give them a place to store parts AND make him match the rest of the team, while still retaining the general lines of plane mode.
  3. Honestly, at this point the thread is less "what current anime are you watching" and more "what anime are you currently watching"
  4. At least with Silverbolt they have an excuse. A Concorde's little more than a pencil with wings. Some of the OTHER hang-gliding robots that've come out over the years have no such excuse.
  5. Because the goal is a toon-accurate bot when looked at from one specific angle, and a backpack full of random parts from any other angle.
  6. Yo dog, we heard you like canopies so we put a canopy in your canopy so you-*ringring* Hello? Yes? Oh, my apologies. No problem. *click* Sorry, 2010 called and they just told me they want their jokes back. I can't finish that sentence. Seriously, though. The apathy, if not actual antipathy, that Hasbro and TakaraTomy express towards competent transformer design when they have an aerial mode is shocking. It is like they've decided that since it is harder than a car(because the bottom is visible in flight) that they aren't going to expend any effort at all. Maybe there's a good reason for the double canopy, but that entire plane mode is a trainwreck from every angle other than straight above, and the underside is a complete embarrassment.
  7. I believe they have a DYRL license in addition to a Robotech license. That adds a LITTLE diversity to their options.
  8. But FASA never responded to a C&D with "Don't worry, we promise not to sue you for stealing our mech, gottagonicetalkingwithyoubye" Which is what really caused the lawsuit. The guy readily admitted he was furious at his treatment and was going to do whatever it took to get this to court, which was difficult given he was in... Egypt, I think it was.
  9. As I recall, they ignored him until they couldn't anymore, then promised not to sue him for stealing their tardigrade and hung up.
  10. As I recall, the cast was identical(like, they cast actors to match his game's race and gender in every role), and "giant blue tardigrade that warps ships through space" is... pretty distinctive.
  11. Which is how they were pitching it until immediately before launch. Then marketing suddenly decided "This isn't a new Titan, it is the most powerful gaming card ever wrought by the hands of mortals!", and... well, it isn't THAT good at games. Haswell and a Radeon 580 here. I'm starting to feel the urge to rebuild, but it isn't necessary. The loss of my VR space greatly reduced my power needs.
  12. Ishtar sang? I never noticed. In fairness, I last saw Mac2 as a teen. With the way she was dressed, I likely wouldn't have noticed a herd of pink elephants. (Seriously, the ONLY clear memories I have of the show are ishtar in her emulator getup)
  13. Micky-D got bought by Boeing years ago. And Boeing's looking pretty bad these days. They may very well be rubberstamping it to avoid a reputation as a difficult licensor(which would reduce licensing income). ... Or simply not care as long as they get paid.
  14. What else were they supposed to do. They did v3s of Optimus and Megatron already, they pretty much HAD to redesign Starscream. The only other option was do a toy that hasn't already been done twice in the line. And ttat's clearly impossible.
  15. Lasers. The Blowsperior swords. Wait, that's not alien tech... That one rifle Hikaru used as improvised artillery during the jailbreak. LASERS.
  16. RC time machine? Heck yes!
  17. I salute you, you glorious madmen.
  18. I'd wager it's also three times faster than a normal bioroid.
  19. If it makes you feel better, I sighed at the fake hood on his chest. But the rest of the design seems sane enough that I'm reserving judgement. He looks competent in both modes, and the dynamic posing makes me think that robot mode isn't an "only good from head-on" deal. If nothing else, at least it isn't a complete mess of panel lines and hinges(but then, budget prevents the sort of plastic origami that some of the recent MPs have reveled in). I prefer Hasui's design sense and wish he was still running Masterpiece, though obviously I'm in the minority.
  20. It really does. Good jet and good robot. The vehicle-first design seems like a must to get a good transforming jet. The six-winged backpack is a bit much, though.
  21. I'm excited! Are you excited? ... Yes, I enjoy legal drama far too much. That's what Macross has done to me.
