1. Maybe HG will get another stick up its butt and decide it doesn't need to pay the new company any money, because it "owns" Macross, thereby resulting in breach of contract and termination of license. ... Not likely, but one can hope...
2. *cackles* Had this passed to me a little while back, but the board was down. And hey, it's always good to see again.
3. I say if you're gonna legislate one entertainment medium, do 'em all. TV, movies, DVDs, et cetera. Then we can be like Australia or Great Britain, where the government censors (and in some cases bans) our entertainment before we ever get to see it.
4. I liked the original 2 mechs personally. Especially the Mk. 2.
5. Waitwait... Animeigo started off dubbing games?
6. Maybe next time...
7. Indeed it is. Leaving unused portions in is a common practice, dating back to the early days of gaming, when it was easier to leave it in than it was to change all the addresses in the code(assembly is a pain in the butt).
8. Dubbing is an extravagant expense if you're a small company like AnimEigo. They have limited finances, and it usually doesn't make sense for them to dub things because their primary audience is hardcore otaku. Well, the majority of their products are dubbed(just ran through the drop-down list on their site because I've got too much time on my hands). You still make a good point. They're smaller than some other companies, and DID spend a large sum of cash on the remaster. They may've already used the "dub fund" on the remaster.
9. True. Very true.
10. Sure it does. 'S why Skull One didn't explode when Focker got shot. 310500 , Good one wolfx. BTW, nice to hear from you, azrael. Its nice to be back in the forums!!!!!!! 310597 Not to nitpick or anything, but that was actually my reply to wolfx's comment that a higher rank didn't give you more HP.
11. Speak for yourself. Men don't touch my ass.
12. Hence why Focker bit it later, while Hikaru and Max survived through teh war. Sure it does. 'S why Skull One didn't explode when Focker got shot.
13. Thought it was an uncut, director's cut, extended edition, etc. that they said was out of the question. ... Not that it matters, they still did it.
14. Harmony Gold has stated that AnimEigo will be credited with the subtitling and remastering job, and the original liner notes which appeared with the originals will be included with the ADV release. This is going to be funny, as ADV's competitor may be included on their packaging. 310490 Oh, good. I'm quite pleased to be proven wrong.
15. They will once the consumers start buying the massively cheaper Revolution(I believe Nintendo's explicitly stated that they're shooting for a lower price point than the competition again). It won't hurt TOO bad, as MS and Sony both have massive profits from other parts of their empire they can subsidize the game consoles with(and MS has through the entire current generation). And before the fanboys start rambling about how no one'll buy a Revolution REGARDLESS of price... Please note that Sony and MS followed every one of the GameCube's price cuts with one of their own, because undercutting the competition by a full hundred dollars DOES affect what people choose.
16. I was hoping it would not return... 310451 True. But on the upside, this thread is something besides the spewing of inane fanboy crap and bragging about degrees to anyone that argues.
17. I only remembered the first part. 310437 Between the fact that ADV didn't dub MOSPEADA or Southern Cross, and the fact that dubbing is a routine practice as opposed to an extravagant expense, I'm inclined to believe 1 was only mentioned so it didn't look like they were saying "Don't blame us, we WANTED to do it right..." It's generally a bad idea to look like you're badmouthing your employer/licensor. Even when you are.
18. My bet on the truth... There is nothing "secret" about it. Rockstar was fooling around, created a bunch of "racy" minigames. Someone said "Dudes... we're NEVER gonna get an M rating with all this stuff, and a lot of stores aren't gonna carry an AO game..." The triggers to enter the segments were removed, because it was easier than stripping the entire games out. This actually has some serious ramifications for the industry. If the ESRB and government censorship boards start rating games based on "leftover" content that has been disabled but is still on the disk, developers will start being obligated to remove anything they decide not to use, which can be quite extensive changes in some cases(some "dummied-out" features have hooks extending into virtually every part of the game).
19. Oh boy, I hope it is! How can ANYONE lose to Heero?
20. $400 is too much for a game system, period. Saturn anyone? Note that in Japan, the Saturn and PS1 BOTH ran about 400$. It wasn't until the US launch that the price wars began. And the Saturn dropped price rapidly to match the PS. Souce: Gamespot article If the PS3 is going to cost more than $350 (and industry people are prediciting $400), I might have to hold off on it. 310060 Old quote, but still amusing.Man, Kutaragi's hilarious.
21. And in desperate need of cropping, too...
22. I dun have any pics handy, but... HOORAY FOR THE MECH-POPE!
23. I can confirm that HG blocked the dubbing effort. They had a big BS explanation about how it would confuse people to have two diffrent dubbed versions. Still disappointed that all Animeigo's work is all getting passed off so someone that put no work into it can reap the benefits. Betting Animeigo won't even be credited with the remaster.
24. Is the series worth it? A bit hairy about splurging all that hard earned cash when most turn based SRPG series don't differ too much, especially for the Japanese challenged... IMO, yes. But I'm a crazy demented fanboy. If you really want to know, you can try downloading Super Robot Wars 4 for the SNES, and an emulator. As far as gameplay goes, 4 was the first "modern" one. And SNES ganmes are a bit easier to find and download than PS1 or Dreamcast titles.
25. If I weren't above such things, I'd start making scans, watermarking them, uploading them, and linking them just to annoy people. ... It's not really that I'm above it as much as that I'm lazy.
